    You should show the whole court so we can see the drop and what it looks like when it lands

    love the video. no nonsense, no filler, just practical tips--all good ones. agree it would have been nice to see where the balls were landing, but not easy to show without losing close up of contact point. i also like hitting a fast drive drop that is similar but just more aggressive

    For what it’s worth - I really liked the instruction and camera work. It’s clear to follow and very well demonstrated. Makes me wonder why I never thought of hitting a drop shot with top spin before especially if the goal is keeping it low.
    One thing that may help is to add some cues to make sure the paddle is below the ball and to move your body in unison with the paddle ie. bend at the knees to get lower than the ball and rise up through contact.
    You demonstrate it in the video, I just found this to be a great visualization as I am practicing top spin.
    Would you ever try a drop shot with side spin?

    At about the 6:30 mark, you reference using weight transfer. So far, so good. But while you are talking about the weight transfer, the camera shows you loading your weight onto your dominant (back) foot (again, so far, so good) but then you are simply lifting your left foot off the ground each time you hit the shot. Just suggesting you align the narrative with the action here.

      @sohosterable ปีที่แล้ว

      If you don't mind me chiming in, normally the eastern or semi western grip is used. I've tried the continental grip but found the eastern grip easier to topspin.

    Problem with this video is that we don't get to see the trajectory of the ball It would be particularly helpful to see how a topspin drop moves vs a drop hit without topspin

    I really don't like the explanation of where to contact on the ball. If your paddle is facing 45 degrees up into the air, the ball will go way too high, especially if you're behind the baseline for a 3rd shot. That is not the correct angle. Maybe more like 25-35 degrees

  • @itmaslanka

    It looks like gravity is having more of a effect than that negligible topspin. You got to spin that ball much faster to get topspin!

  • @claycc79
    @claycc79 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You don't want your drop shot to jump up, which makes it much easier to attack. Back spin will make the ball stay low and skid...

  • @redequal7457
    @redequal7457 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You explain in the beginning to use wrist to brush up on the ball at contact ("from 6 o'clock to 1 or 12 o'clock), BUT when you show yourself doing the shots, you us no wrist (there is no movement of your paddle around the axis of 6 to 12 o'clock, not even to 8 o'clock). Rather, you use all shoulder and body motion to bring the paddle up. In other words, what you tell people to do, you do not do. I will not discuss that your feet are too far from the kitchen line.

      Agree. Something odd about 5:00 to 1-2:00. Should it be 5:00 to 11:00, as in south to north west? Looks like she is finishing at left shoulder

    How do you execute this when the 2 nd shot is coming in fast. That’s why these drills don’t help. 😊

    • @RickLeBeau
      @RickLeBeau ปีที่แล้ว

      Every shot is situational, ya doofus. There is no single shot that you hit on every incoming ball. This helps build your arsenal of available shots, and you deploy it when appropriate. Sheesh.

      @brucehawkinson8901 ปีที่แล้ว

    Drills are overrated. All those practice shots the ball was coming so slow. It would be more game like if they were sending you different and faster speeds because that’s what you are going to see in a game.

    Sorry. This video has no credibility. It's like showing "the BEST DRIVE EVER" but it turns out all the balls are going out. Without seeing where these incredible drops are landing, there is no way to know....also it's highly doubtful that she can generate enough spin or top spin, at that speed, so the ball takes off after the bounce. Basically without showing the entire court, this is just click bait, with a slick title.

    • @thatpickleballguy
      @thatpickleballguy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah Incorrect. I enjoyed watching this video. And learned from it. Maybe give it one more watch, and change your mindset. Cuz the current one you're operating from is tough to be successful with.
