मुंबई के गोवन्दी स्लम में पली-बड़ी सलेहा खान अपने समुदाय की लड़कियों के लिए एक उदाहरण पेश कर रहीं हैं। सलेहा अपने समुदाय के लिए बदलाव का मुख्य श्रोत हैं। उन्होंने दसवीं के एग्जाम के बाद लगभग पढाई छोड़ ही दी थी। उन्होंने अपने दिक्कतों के आगे पढाई रुकने नहीं दी बल्कि उन्होंने NGO की मदद से पढाई पूरी करि। उनके पिता इस बात के खिलाफ भी थे लेकिन आज वे जगह-जगह जाकर लड़कियों के समक्ष जागरूकता फैला रही हैं। साथ ही सलेहा बच्चों के अधिकार, स्वास्थ्य और स्वच्छता की वकालत भी करती हैं। इनकी प्रेरक कहानी जानने के लिए देखें यह जोश Talk।
Living in the slums of Govandi, a suburban neighbourhood in eastern Mumbai, Saleha Khan is setting an example for other girls in her community. She is one of the catalyst for social change in her community. She completed her education with the support of a NGO as she was struggling with the money and mentality of the society. A girl belonging to the Mumbai slum area is now working as an advocate for childrens rights, health, nutrition and sanitation. She conduct sessions with the girls and their parents explaining them about the importance of girl education, menstruation, etc and tries to change the psychology of her community. She was also awarded the Savitribai phule award for her amazing work done for social change. Her Inspiring and motivational story can change many lives and the mentality of society. young and brave heart. society needs young rebel like Saleha khan. Education is key to the freedom and good life. Gender inequality has lead to many misconception and misogyny views that girls need protection of boys n men. They need to sty inside the home n do the house chores only. Patriarchal society has diminishing views on women liberty.
