Kids these days don't even know. I still have all of my old volumes of Straight Up Detroit Sh*t. DJ Assault, DJ Funk, DJ Slugo, DJ Godfather, Mr. De, DJ Deeon, Disco D - all pioneers of Booty/Ghettotech.
Caught DJ Assault twice in London, both times each club was completely packed out with everyone singing the words - trust me the kids definitely do know 😉
@@jaytapes It still blows my mind that he DJ's in Europe. Back in the day, booty was just a Detroit/Chicago/Columbus thing. You're lucky. I've only seen Assault once. ☺
Going to illegal drag races in 1999-2000 in Detroit when I was 19-20. Plymouth and Outer Drive, Grand River and Telegraph, cruisin Gratiot in Roseville. That’s around the time I got into Assault, listening to the radio late at night having a blast.
Represent Plymouth and Outer Dr!!!….that is my neighborhood and I imagine you was racing/spinning donuts off Outer Dr in front of Detroit Diesel yes???
@@kevinnolan4965 haha more so cruising and spectating, I had a 1990 240SX so I really couldn’t keep up with those cars. I did some racing more so against Hondas etc
@@hockeyguy9974 the culture still lives on my man!! I was born in 91 and moved to Detroit in 2015, so I can only testify to the current era of low riders and racers in Detroit….but in the summertime, they’re still spinning donuts and racing right there in front of Detroit Diesel on the weekends….i often find myself coming back from work late at night on Saturday and getting caught up spectating because them Detroit whips are so awesome….
I see he’s slowed the set from where it was originally in 96-97. I’m assuming to appeal to new tastes? But it was called booty music. You had to jit back then to match rhythm. Still one of my heroes. Saw him at the firehouse spot in the D so many moons ago.
He doesn’t have the jacked up Technics 1200s, but an Amazing DJ Assault set is still good (What I mean by jacked up Technics 1200s was, in the early 2000’s a lot of ghetto tech DJs would take apart the Technics 1200 and make it faster than your standard Technics 1200 turn table)
This is okay..he’s a great DJ don’t get me wrong! But to me I think his old stuff was way better not mainstream.. seeing him play at raves in the D , & the motor …. Unforgettable memories
Can happen to anyone at any time. More likely with a real DJ like this though who does quick cuts and more raw manipulation / mixing as opposed to low effort, “safer” auto beat matching, long blends. To me, it sounded / looked like the crossfader was somehow moved or bumped so the audio in the live channel was muted.

Yea he's slowed a lot of them down. I do prefer the originals
Him and DJ Paul are probably my favorites
Seen him near Lisbon past summer, amazing set - time flew by!
Greatest Boiler room of all time
I know it wouldn’t of been the vibe but if I was at a dj assault set I’d be moshing and throwing bows to a bunch of these tracks
Trust me😂😂😭

Detroit 🔥! Reminds me of the late 90's early 2k cruising the lodge coming up on Jefferson ave!
