I am watching this in my track dangle machine while my slope gauge reads 65% and it's also muddy. And I am having to come down from the top and cut reaching down. I thought maybe this video would make me feel like I am not alone in my plight...lol. I am actually having to cross trees up in front of me to keep from sliding away..lol
I usually use tops or small trees for traction for climbing up hills, but this unit had nothing to use lol pretty amazing what chunking up your trail will do for traction
With the grapple saw you can cut and log to skyline rds for less rd changes, or to skid trails! Some times I’ll come in and cut and log the whole unit and that eliminates bringing in two different machines! The grapple saw is faster in bigger timber also! But I do prefer to run the hotsaw over a grapple saw specially if your in a corn patch lol
Well it might not be as fast as a hotsaw but its better then a hand cutter, plus I just eliminated having to bring 2 other machines in plus it would of taken a 5 hand cutters a week or more to cut this piece that took me two days! Plus it’s already logged in for the processor ! So If you break down the cost of my machine per day and then 5 hand cutters plus having two less machines, I think it was faster and less expensive! That just my opinion thou
Heck ya man that was cool, keep em comin!

What is the benefit of using the directional head over a hotsaw?

There is probably a slower, more expensive way to cut timber, but I can't think of one right now.
