Funny to see Office Bloke Aiden (son) become more and more drunk as the game plays on. He really gets into all the craze LOL .. Manchester England guys enjoying college football had a great time!
The reason that college football and college basketball are so big in the US is because the pro teams mostly cater to cities and the big colleges represent entire states or parts of states usually. You won't see as big of an interest in college sports in heavily urbanized areas, especially the Northeast but the more "into the country" you get the bigger the emphasis on the college teams there is. There's also hundreds of college teams but only dozens of pro teams, and a person's alma mater is something they belong to more than being in the vicinity of a city that happens to have a pro team.
College football stadiums are overwhelmingly outdoor stadiums. And yes fans are mixed together outside of sections that are allocated to visiting teams but are not seperated by any means.
Penn state is like the last true college football town/place going north (east coast/new england) . Not as much passion and pagentry the further north you get. Its either really small schools or in big cities. Tailgating in the south can happen on boats and lakes and by rivers and stuff. This year our spot was beside a plot of corn.
Go to an Alabama at Tennessee game in Neyland stadium. I think it may be louder than alot of places. Also iv heard LSU gets crazy as well. Any big games in the sec especially if the game is close throughout and the home team needs the fans to stay loud to help distract the visitors side. Georgia gets loud. They go crazy in the south but Penn state white outs at night are right up there

With its 106,572-seat capacity, Beaver Stadium is the second-largest stadium in the United States. Penn State football plays a major role in the economy of Centre County as well, bringing thousands of fans to State College to patronize stores, restaurants, and hotels on seven Saturdays a year.

With the NCAA playoff expansion you can get a home playoff game in the 1st round, if you didn't get a bye. College football stadiums that can hold over 100,000 right off the top of my head are 3 in the big 10 conference . Penn st, OhioSt, Michigan. In the SEC you have Texas, Texas A&M, Tennessee, LSU and Alabama
From someone who lives in the area: The last regular season home game finished this month and now the long-awaited expansion renovation of the stadium is underway. This has been a long time in the making. That will make the capacity records even more interesting. We already set capacity records every season.
Yeah but Ohio State will never stop expanding the Shoe, and the Skunkweasels north of there will also keep playing the "how small can we define a 'seat' so we can keep the record" game. I swear, you get one cheek's worth of real estate in the big house now.
hostility depends on if the teams are rivals or not. When huge rivals play against each other, there are always some fights in the stands. If the teams are not rivals though its usually chill
Penn State's Beaver Stadium has seating capacity of 106,572 people plus more standing. It is 4th largest stadium in the world. Whiteout means that fans wear white.
NFL stadiums have most of the indoor stadiums bc NFL is more of a TV/media market where College football is not only traditionally the sports roots but more about atmosphere and the college campus.
I been a Penn state fan since the Joe pa era. My wife and I went to see Penn State vs Ohio State first time few yrs ago. I loved it and had a blast! Funny thing is I'm from Ohio.😅
A college Football team has up to 105 players with 105 available scholarships. Apparently it was 85 scholarships, with 120 players. A Rule change has apparently happened recently. NFL teams are only allowed 53 players, and are reduced to 50 during Playoffs, I think. I think...at least I heard something like that years ago. But on the field at any given time, each team is only allowed 11. Players often get switched out after every few plays to keep the on field teams fresh. At least with college play anyway.
White out may happen during a snow storm. Many football games are played in freezing cold weather snow storms may cause white out conditions. You can’t see! Guess what? The game goes on no matter how deep the snow, only in the Pro’s would they stop play not risking injury to their billion dollar players. In college football the game goes on, no matter how bad the snow, fog, rain, wind…Once during an incoming hurricane they canceled the game.
Washington and Penn State aren’t exactly rivals. In fact, Washington just joined the Big Ten conference for the first time this year, after spending its entire history in the old PAC-8/PAC-10/PAC-12 conference. So not a lot of history between the two, apart from two bowl games, and one earlier meeting in 1921 in Seattle. Unlike Penn State would with Ohio State for example, or Washington with fellow PAC-12-turned-Big Ten rival Oregon. In fact, Penn State originally wanted the white out game to be against Ohio State. But the networks flexed it out to the Big Noon game on FOX, which generally doesn’t quite provide the same atmosphere as a night game would.

#1 Rivalry in college football is considered to be Ohio State vs University of Michigan… It’s simply known as The Game. Both are in The Big Ten Conference although now there are 18 teams. In 2023 Michigan won the National Championship and Ohio State is in the playoffs for the National Championship this year (2024).
Even with how large these stadiums are, these are bucketlist type events for 99% of American sports fans. You also need to remember that the Washington campus is 3000 miles (5000km) away. So, most of these college towns are fairly small, and the majority of the fans need to stay the night, or the entire weekend, and some are staying on campus in their RVs. It's a huge part of the local economy.
@you_can_call_me_T For sure, but I guess my point is that because of distance and/or cost many many more would love to go to one of these big games and are not able to. So, when people from other countries are surprised by how they draw this many people, there's still more demand. At the very least, I think most people have been to maybe one or a very few in their lifetime, unless they were a student or season ticket holder. I'm guessing even in the state of Pennsylvania, there is a very small percentage of the 11 million or so residents that have been to a PSU game.
@@michaelpeli2429 i live in Tennessee. The Vols stadium holds 100k. I live on the other side of the state and I know plenty of people who attend Vols games when they can. My point is that attending a big college game isn't really an out of reach "bucket experience" for most. It's not a trip to Hawaii lol. Most states have at least one big university and Americans love a road trip. I think for anyone truly interested in going, the odds of them having the capacity to aren't as low as you seem to believe.

it's a college campus, also, Luka. if you are caught fighting at university in the States, most likely you will be expelled for good. So, generally college students are well-behaved. Generally.
Hahaha I was waiting for you to say something about them being City (Citeh) fans...if they come see a game in California I'll try to show up and represent United 🤘🤘🤘
As you have found out, we Americans are a bit mad for our university football. In all honestly, I don't watch the pro NFL, hardly ever, but I'm an avid fan of university football. My alma mater is the Univ of Washington (Huskies). Their stadium only holds about 75,000 if I remember right. It could be more now, I'm not sure. But I'm also a big fan of the Univ of Oregon (Ducks) since I moved to Oregon 35 years ago. This can be a problem in the family--I'm not allowed to wear any Univ of Oregon hats, shirts, etc., when visiting family in the Seattle area. LOL! I'm respectful, so I don't wear any Oregon logo. My husband graduated from Washington State University and went to graduate school at the Univ of Oregon, so in our family we have the Pacific NW covered---we get to celebrate when any of the three schools win. :-)
I wouldn't call Washington a scrub, we were the national runner-ups last year. We lost several of our coaches to other schools and the NFL in the off-season and that lead to a lot of our top players transferring. It's just a rebuilding year.
There are a lot of reasons fighting amongst fans is rare including law enforcement. There are more nuanced reasons though like how you get to championships and rankings. Strength of Schedule is important. Ex. Georgia and Texas are both in the SEC. Both fans will root for the Other team when they aren't playing each other. Because, if say Georgia loses to a good Texas like this year, it's not as bad for rankings than if they were bad this year. So you want the other members of your conference, and opponents to win every game except when they play you. So Georgia fans, and Texas fans, are allies of sorts, except the 3 hours a year they play each other. You won't see Georgia fans in Texas gear, but you will see them in watch along chat rooms cheering for their opponents and conference teams.

cont.. The schedule for Cfb is short. 11 or 12 games. Schedule alone cannot seed the playoffs. There are many 1 and 2 loss teams this year. So you have to consider Strength of schedule to decide who should get into playoffs and which spot you get. This carries on to next year as well. If the SEC is really good in this years playoffs, many SEC teams will be ranked higher to start next year which gives them a head start for playoffs. So SEC Alabama is rooting for TX and GA even though they didn't make it themselves, because it helps them next year. That said, my teams is Independent Notre Dame. We just root for our opponents when they play others. Go Irish! 🍀
Too bad they didn't show the pregame anthem and flyover. The visiting team gets a small section for their fans, but other fans are sprinkled throughout the stadium.
Yes beaver stadium is huge but they are going to do renovations soon The underneath the stands is under roof 110, 000 but this is before standing room only Some NFL used to fight but if you put eagles and cowboys fans mix well just say everyone would have to be careful there But college football is different Michigan is biggest stadium in North Penn State second Mexico has the biggest in the Americas The restrooms and concessions does get packed but I won't buy anything there it's better to wait and leave it's cheaper I live around 30 miles away from Penn State so why wouldn't I know a lot about this stadium

Man that atmosphere was nothing compared to what you see in the south! Just like the guy in the stand said you want to see crazy you got to visit and SEC game!
I don't know why they call it the "Mexican Wave", considering that it originated here in the U.S.
I think there's no love lost between Penn State (Nittany Lions), the Ohio State (Buckeyes), and Michigan U (Go Blue)
The stadium holds 106,500 people.
But 110 + at this game

I am an old lady, and I enjoyed watching you and your son making so many memories together. I have watched you on your different channels, and I always appreciate your intelligence, humor, and your place in your family. Not only have you lived a great life, but you have raised your children to not only be successful, but to lead a life where these memories are not only cherished but become a part of the new memories that they will create in their adult lives. I send you and your family blessings for a joyous 2025. ~ karen
@@karenjayne24 you too Karen. Have a great new year 👍🏻💙
I have 5 TVs in my RV. 😃
Away or home, Penn State is the team with the drabbest uniforms ever.
it's a college campus, also, Luka. if you are caught fighting at university in the States, most likely you will be expelled for good. So, generally college students are well-behaved. Generally.
Their stadium holds over 106,000
There are plenty of towns with less residents than are in that one college football stadium.
LOL! My town has less than 8,000.
@reindeer7752 My mother grew up in Dorchester, Wisconsin. She said the population was 300!
Hahaha I was waiting for you to say something about them being City (Citeh) fans...if they come see a game in California I'll try to show up and represent United 🤘🤘🤘
Stella is a pretty big brand in America
At home, 102 players, on the road about 60
There are a lot of reasons fighting amongst fans is rare including law enforcement.
Go Irish! 🍀
Hold the phone. Ob Daz went to a pennstate game? Howd i miss this one? Im a PA resident myself. Pennstate goes HARD
Pay attention son 😉😂
Stella is owned by Budweiser
University of Michigan is over 100,000 seats
Stella is considered shit beer in parts of America. Where I'm from, you get IA 6 pack for $5
Stella is owned by Anheuser-Busch
Too bad they didn't show the pregame anthem and flyover. The visiting team gets a small section for their fans, but other fans are sprinkled throughout the stadium.
Stella is owned and produced by Anheuser-Busch
It's owned by InBev, a European company that owns Anheiser-Busch and about 80 other beer brands.
I got Stella in my fridge rn 😂
Penn State just made it to the College semis so a good team to root for?
Yes beaver stadium is huge but they are going to do renovations soon
The underneath the stands is under roof
110, 000 but this is before standing room only
Some NFL used to fight but if you put eagles and cowboys fans mix well just say everyone would have to be careful there
But college football is different
Michigan is biggest stadium in North
Penn State second
Mexico has the biggest in the Americas
The restrooms and concessions does get packed but I won't buy anything there it's better to wait and leave it's cheaper
I live around 30 miles away from Penn State so why wouldn't I know a lot about this stadium
I'm sitting here thinking Lav is having no issues understanding them, I'm sure. Somewhat hard for me though.
