  • This is the 7th part of my video about what you need to have in every workshop. In this video I will show how to make a carriage out of plywood for a circular saw to cut a smooth circle.

If you are a bored, retired old guy looking for joy in your dull life, wood work is not for you. Woodworking is a trade one has to learn first. There is the safety factor, overlooked in your demonstration of incompetence. Some nice machines you have there.Wish you well. Bloke from Aus.

boy what an unsafe way to make a circle. Just wait till the blade grabs the piece when you are bringing the sled back. all it take is moving the piece you are trying to make into a circle by a less then .1 degrees and the blade will catch that and try to spin the piece. possible sucking your hand into the blade. The safest way to do it is to have a sled like that that can be locked into place by clamps and you put the piece on and slowly raise the blade into it, while slowly spinning it. you only raise the blade by like a 1/16th of an inch at a time.

You know, a quick peek at what it is you're making would have spared me from watching all those pilot and countersink holes being drilled and screws put in, not to mention the gluing and the clamping. Come on. It's a 3 minute video demo in 6. The circle cutting jig is cool, but I've seen it before. You can do better.
