Hi. I don’t have any videos about the potty training. But right now she is trained to potty on the pads inside our apartment. Thank you!

Does this mean you have never taken her outside before she was 5 months old? What about socialization? Getting her used to other people, dogs, cars, teaching her to be calm in public? Is this a normal thing in Japan?

Hello. Yes, it is normal here and it was instructed after we bought her.
She’s not allowed to go outside until the vaccination is complete. She goes outside in a crate just to go to the doctor for vaccination.
This is done to prevent them from getting sick.
I don’t have any problems with her in public. She is calm and doesn’t bark at people or dogs or anything.

@@winchmocha Interesting, I’ve never heard of that. In Europe and the US you generally aren’t advised to walk your puppy on the ground in frequented areas until their last shot at around 2.5 months, but many breeders practice safe environmental socialization by taking the puppies out to watch the world as early as 4 weeks old.
From what you’ve shown of you, your husband and Mocha outside, I wouldn’t call her behavior bad or inappropriate, but she definitely seems unsure, which is often the leading cause for the development of reactivity in under-socialized small breed dogs.

@cgreenside We bought her at 3months so she completed her vaccine later than the others. She had only 1 vaccine when we got her.
Maybe we did not understand completely what the staff said about going out because it was all Japanese. All we know is she’s not allowed to go out until the vaccines are completed. Maybe I am wrong too.
I see, thank you for the information! It is my first puppy so I am honestly not very knowledgeable about all the stuffs.

@@winchmocha Gotcha! Sorry if my comments seem rude, I was just very taken aback by the pet store bought designer breed that didn’t really experience the world until 5 months of age. But you already have the dog, and you luckily got her spayed too, which already eliminates the chances of her offsprings ending up in more unethical pet stores. Enjoy life with her, I already saw you were getting her used to grooming at home, so big props for that! A lot of doodle owners unfortunately disregard this part and assume the coats don’t need upkeep.
There are a lot of great resources online when it comes to socializing and training dogs, so if you ever feel lost, there are many great places to look to! For example, Tom Davis Dog Training has a puppy raising/training series going on right now, with a VERY different breed from yours, but he explains himself very well.
One thing I’d recommend as a dog trainer myself is taking her out more, building up her confidence outside, training tricks outside, anything to make her really think and work so she’s not too hyper at home - that way she will enjoy the outside more, tire herself out, and a tired dog is a happy dog :)

      Oh it’s fine!
If I only knew, I would definitely take her out with me in a carrier bag.
Yes, I wanted her to get used to grooming at home too since her hair grows fast.
Thank you for all the informations and recommendations! I needed those recommendations too and will keep those in mind! ☺️
