@@ihsahnakerfeldt9280 Tbf, I find it interesting that there's lots of people especially in the western fandom who dislike him. He's my fave personally, adorable in a way a scruncly cat would be lol and I find his background and character arc interesting (tho I would have preferred if they had left out the whole Nezuko thing because that's just.. uncomfortable). But I can absolutely understand why people would be bothered by how dramatic he is almost all the time, even if he does have his reasons to act that way.
But the interesting thing to me is that the Japanese fandom, or specifically the people that read the manga in Shounen Jump, really seem to love him though. He's easily topping the popularity polls and I have yet to find a single Japanese tweet or some complaining about him. I'm sure a good chunk of his fanbase is just fangirls, but surely that can't be all there is to it if he even tops typically fangirl attracting characters like Giyuu.

Actually I think he is so insistent because of his low self esteem. He is romantic and dramatic yes, but he cannot love himself (e.g. he likes flattering but cannot believe he is actually strong)- so he hopes a girlfriend can love him and make him feel he has value and he can provide for someone😢

I know Zenitsu is one of the more hated ones but I f*cking love him, he's my favorite not to mention he has my favorite elemental attacks thunder/electric.
If it helps, he's only that hated in the english speaking fandom. But he was the most popular character in the final Shounen Jump poll (done when the manga ended in 2020) and he was the reason the manga had its first spike in popularity during its initial release. So he's actually way more loved than certain loud people on the internet would like you to know :P
