that is deffo not mppt it is just a common buck boost converter unit i have used many they do give a little boost in ampage with reduction of voltage but they will not power point track the best use i have found for them with solar is direct charging as you set the voltage and charge ampage rate and forget them or you can use them to limit current flow into a controller when you have a inpout limit to keep a constent current what i mean is say you have a 20amp controller but you have say 10 panels you could set the buck/boost to 2 amps set voltage to that of panel and you would not overload the controller but get a very steady curent flow as it will have excess

there are so many little toys and gadgets that they have on these sites. I am in China and have access to taobao local price which is awesome and getting all of these little electronic doo dads for an awesome price is great. I will be using rf to turn on all of my lights with these inexpensive products that I check and they work great. you can change the dimming without having to have wall switches anywhere. just going to have a great time with all of these things. kind of playing just like you are doing it is the only way to go. LOL

feels like this is a dc-dc converter

the green controller is just a boost converter with built in watt meter etc the 7 doller unit i think would work better with a lower voltage battery

the green boxed one... is indeed a boost converter... the wattmeter only counts what it was able to push out into the battery... if it fluctuates all the time, then it doesn't register the numbers correctly as i owned one, got rid of it for the cheapo bucky.

Specs say "Input voltage: 4.8-30V" - you say 0-30v... have you tried it at lower voltages? (eg, could it step-up discharged 1s LiPo voltage ie 3.7v, to 12v?)

Yeah sorry. It does need 4.8v min I think.

we get all these things that are bare and other people look down their noses because it doesn't look good but I will take the bucks rather than the looks thank you very much LOL. what is the inline meter you have there 150A. I thought you would have to add some more heat sinks and fans on that thing but how much will that cost you compared to the 50 dollar things you over paid for LOL.

Thanks man. Yeah I love playing around with stuff regardless of the cost. It's my hobby

That power meter is about $10 from aliexpress, relax.

That mp-7210 if it’s the green one is a boost circuit not a true MPPT
