Great White and Cinderella were a fantastic staple for blues rock. Enjoyed them as a teen. As an adult, I've realized how much i love blues music from previous decades and with that, the realization of why I enjoyed those groups so much. For me, they've stood out to be the most pleasurable to listen to even now, especially Cinderella as so many of their lyrics had relatable material that is still relevant today. Shelter Me is a wonderful song.

When I bought my first guitar I remember asking the sales guy at the shop "How can I sound like George Lynch?", not knowing anything about how to achieve guitar tone. Last year, my son, who got his second guitar from the exact same shop btw, told me (without me knowing what he really liked in guitar sounds) "I want my guitar to sound like that song 'In My Dreams'". I quietly shed a tear lol.

The “hair” metal genre was so underrated when it came to ability to play , especially the guitar slingers . Warren Dimartini of Ratt , John Sykes playing on Whitesnake , Young Zak , Jake E Lee with Ozzy , Slash and Izzy , Ritchie Sambora ... I got my first guitar in 89 .

Cinderella - Long Cold Winter and Heartback Station are two amazing albums, blues/country/metal with dobro, slide guitar, 12 string etc They were totally distinct from other metal bands of the era and the music on those albums to me stands the test of time. Tom Kiefer had six vocal chord surgeries and was told he would never sing again but managed overcome adversity and put out new music. He's also a very underated guitar player.

I caught him at a club called Trees in Dallas during his "The Way Life Goes" tour. He was singing great and he had a slamming band. I will say this was probably the loudest show I've seen and I didn't bring ear plugs, so there were several times I had to walk out of the club to stop the pain in my ears. I wish I had come prepared because he was on fire for sure. I think he finished with "A Little Help From My Friends" (which was not played at such a high level) and I was back in the building comfortably to enjoy that. Motley Crue "You're All I Need" is a fav of mine but severely underrated/forgotten. It hasn't been performed live, the music video was deemed "too violent", AND "Girls Girls Girls" over took it. So I see why it's been left. It's honestly some of Vince's best work, it's rugged but oddly angelic. Hope someone sees this comment!

There's countless hidden gems, especially in hair metal. These are some great ones. Down Boys is Warrant at their best. Rock Me is one of my favorite Great White songs and they have waaay better stuff like this one than their cover of Ian Hunter's tune. Dokken also has Breaking the Chains, Don't Close Your Eyes (not the Kix hit), Tooth and Nail, Lightning Strikes Again, Kiss Of Death, and so many classics. Cinderella is also underrated just like the other three bands. Night Songs is an excellent debut album. I also love Ratt, Skid Row, Stryper, and so much more.

Guitar Player magazine had an open poll for the best guitar solo of the year. It was a fill-in-the-blank question, not a multiple choice with options given. I wrote in George Lynch for "In My Dreams" and he won! I remember at the time thinking he won because of me. Ha ha! But, man, I could listen to the solo over and over again - and I did, wearing out the tape in the process. In any case it was a well deserved award. That solo has so many of the iconic techniques that define what makes George so unique: it's well composed with slow and wide bends, pinch harmonics, staccato riffs, that weird harmonic minor note he hits, and of course, blistering fast runs. It is an amazing display of music that still amazes me to this day.

I grew up listening to all these bands, much like you did! Shout out to awesome parents who share awesome music with their kids! My husband and I have done the same for our three kids!!!
Just this past April, my husband and I were blessed to have been able to see the Tom Keifer band here in our home town of Tucson, Arizona! So amazing! L.A. Guns opened the show.
