I'm binge watching you videos from oldest to newest. Taking both mental notes, and physical notes. Your videos ARE SO CONCISE. I LOVE IT. I won't mention any names (except two) Kevin Lynch fills his videos with self-indulgent repulsive faces. I'm not sure if thinks this helps, or just enjoys it to much to care. And Musical Theatre Writer Guy, makes video about 4 times longer than necessary with self-indulgent asides, and expressions. Thank you for doing neither of those time-fillers and self indulgences. You are a beautiful lady, and you have a beautiful voice, Your content is very powerful and well presented. (I also love the work of Music Theater Theory).
I had a stage play 2 weeks ago, and we got 1st in entire school. now the group I was directing is going to a huge theatre to do a stage play, thx to you and your guide. ❤

Hi 👋 my name is keir mills and I love to be theatre director how to make a musical I never have direct myself this is my first day and never had a write script before and I love acting 🎭 and drama 🎭 I love musicals but i’m never done musicals yet I love singing I need help I don’t know how do it I’m still on holiday now at crease and I’m done a few minutes now for writing I have that ideas 💡 at my notebook 📒 keir xx
Hello Keir! Thanks for watching and commenting. Sounds like you're directing a musical for the first time. Congratulations! My best advice would be to plan ahead! The more details you can plan ahead of time; rehearsal schedule, props, costumes, set, tech week, etc., the better. If you need some one on one help, check me out of Fiverr! Thanks again for watching!
I know right?! I'll give you some advanced info - I just had a baby - so I have been a bit preoccupied with family. But, I have so many ideas for new videos, and I can't wait to get back in front of the camera! I'm hoping that will be soon. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hello again @CriveTimeXY, thank you again for commenting. It's been a while, but just letting you know I am up and running again! I just posted a new video, and will have new content up every other Monday at Noon EST. Thanks for watching!
hi there, relating to this, how does a composer like me and a librettist collaborator stage our own original musical, with open to edits and revisions if need be? do you recommend pitching to local theatre companies and colleges with strong theatre programs, are there other ways perhaps online, such as concept album with music and staged as an audio drama? Would love your suggestions.
Thanks @aidenflynncarey7950 for watching and commenting. Congrats on writing a musical - that's not easy! If I understand you correctly, you want to produce your project in order to make revisions and perfect it? In that case, I would do a staged reading yourself, or pitch it to local theatre companies who might be interested in a staged reading or workshop performance. If you can find a theatre who (after reading your project) wants to partner with you to work on it, they can lend their resources to schedule a reading (actors sitting on stage reading and singing from music stands), or a workshop performance (some scenes/songs blocked, others seated). These types of performances would be for general audience, but most importantly for theatre producers / directors who might want to fund the progression of the project. If you're unable to find a theatre to partner with, you can stage a showcase on your own and reach out to industry professionals to attend. If you feel your script is not there yet, you might want to partner with an editor or dramaturg to help you further develop the script/songs before showcasing them. I hope this was helpful! Please let me know if you're interested in any other help - I've started consulting on projects again. Thanks again for watching and commenting!
That's amazing Bethany! I do think that's doable, but I would recommend hiring a co-director or director and you function as assistant director. You're going to want someone to look at the scenes you are acting in.
Hello @joannveale1885, thanks for watching and commenting. I have a 2 Part series on Holding Audition including a link to example audition forms (in the video description). This was so great! As someone brand new to this you really made me feel like… I can do this!! Quick question… is there any way to arrange a 5-10 min conversation with you? I have a crazy idea but unsure how doable it is. I really like how detailed and knowledgeable you are. No pressure… I just need to talk not write about the idea. Sounds great in my head and the few people I asked but someone Iike you could offer a different perspective

This is amazing! I’m writing a play at the moment and I’d love to act in it as well as have directional influence do you think this is doable?

As a new director how do you handle auditions
