I love the Scottish and Welsh accents! To be fair, I was born in Bavaria. But I speak neutral German (which is the German spoken around the city of Hamburg). And I am reallyyyy great at doing a fake Bavarian accent. And a Berlin accent. And Cologne accent. Also a French sounding German... I am fluent in English, French and semi fluent in Japanese. Ok, I am just a language loving nerd...

Can I point out that Crowley is also literally a demonic snake? Shedding skins is kinda a signature move for snakes and given the lack of literally skin shedding, constant appearance changes isn’t a terrible comparison
Crowley is literally my favorite and I've never thought about this ever, very nice, literally never came across my mind that that's the reason he changed so much, it's like my mind is blown now.

I saw this really awesome tumblr post a while back about how Crowley's strange behaviour match those of a snake, and it's got me thinking about how inhuman demons (and angels) are. They are supernatural entities first and foremost, and the demons seem to have some sort of animal aspect to them that is a big part of their psyche/identity. And lastly, they are also human (or at least the ones who spend time on Earth seem to be).
I love this concept and desperately want to know if it’s an actual concept by the designers or if it’s just brilliant fanfic.

“No one ever found their soulmate in the middle of a hurricane” well, Crowley did. That’s how they met, at the start of S1, where it started to rain in the garden of Eden and Aziraphale extended his wing to hide Crowley under it… that’s why Crowley’s so attached to this rain idea.
They met in the beginning according to season 2, I believe Aziraphale fell in love with Crowley then, and Crowley fell in love with Aziraphale in the garden after finding out Zira gave his sword away to the humans.
They met when Crowley made the nebula and star factory and extended his wing when asteroids began flying.
@@HanneMary I believe I haven’t explained myself clearly. That’s why I specify that they met at the start of S1 :) Because I know they meet before but this S1 moment feels like a direct parallel to the scene in this episode:)

18:31 The reason she can't enter the bookshop is because it's (basically) an embassy of heaven. Demons can't go to heaven unless they're invited/brought there by angels. Same with the bookshop. Demons can't get inside unless an angel or human (non-Hell creatures) invites them in. Crowley can go in and out as he pleases because Aziraphale invited him in, obviously.

Just a fun fact: David Tennant is scottish. His british accent is good, but he does have trouble not reverting accents when he says words with "oo" in them. Thats why he often overpronounces those words. When the writers on Doctor Who found out about this, they designed a whole episode to make him say "a jadoon platoon upon the moon".

Victorians were weird about death. Grave robbing was so common that not only were there booby traps, there were also guards (I believe this is where the saying graveyard shift comes from).

I believe they chose this particular era in Edinburgh is because of the infamous grave robbing of Burke and Hare. The medical school in Edinburgh needed corpses for their students to study and they paid well. When they couldn't find corpses they resorted to serial killing. The reason for the booby traps were also so their loved ones wouldn't end up being cut up. The skull of Burke is actually on display in the medical school of Edinburgh. Lol

Watching him physically hold his words back as he realizes that he's a demon and his whole schick is supposed to be getting people to sin hurts to watch. It's an amazing small detail that I wished more people caught and talked about it.

With the grave robbing thing, it was more to do with Aziraphale doing 'the bad thing' and allowing it to happen, and Crowley doing 'the good thing' by saving the girl. It shows the influence that the relationship is having on each other.
Aziraphale turns the Bentley yellow because it's his favourite colour. Yellow is Aziraphale's favourite colour because that's the colour of Crowley's eyes.
also, the colour scheme of the bookshop is all based on his eyes and hair. golden yellow interior walls. burgundy exterior walls.
Oh dear me - Danny, sweetie, no in Scotland we just use pounds and pennies nowadays. Back in the Victorian era, when that minisode is set, the whole of the UK were using a currency that came before decimalisation, with gineas, farthings, shillings, halfpenny's, etc. But no, it is no longer our currency.
And loonies and toonies are just a fancy Canadian way to call their regular $1 and $2 coins.

Another fun fact: Several actors from season 1 are recycled in season 2 as different characters. The demon Shax here in S2 was Madame Tracy in S1. Nina and Maggie were baby-switching nuns in S1, and in a later episode S1’s Will Shakespeare is hardly recognizable as a demon named Furfur.

Graveyard robberies were a HUGE issue in the 1800s. There are an absurd number of deterrents, guards posted, and yes, lethal booby traps deployed to prevent grave robberies. The business of grave robbing and prevention was big money. People built cages over graves, built fences around graveyards, and people found ways around them because stealing and selling family heirlooms and jewelry and then selling the corpse to medical students made enough money to make it worth it.
I've been Edinburgh twice this year and the graveyards are incredible, there's actual guard towers in some of them from the Victorian age.
I like how the cages over graves to prevent grave robbing became myths that the person was a vampire.
@@swanchamp5136 there were also a lot of alarms and devices invented for the “corpse” to use in case of accidental, premature burial. While most stories of a buried alive person being found by grave robbers are just urban legends, the Victorians were so afraid of one or the other happening that there were whole societies dedicated to their prevention.

So, if you go back and watch the laudanum scene in the Edinburgh flashback, you'll note that Elspeth tells them she plans to kill herself with the laudanum, and then says that they can use the money she earned from selling Wee Morag's corpse to **bury her where no-one will dig her up.** If moral dilemmas are your thing, that's the one right there. Elspeth's happy to dig up other people for money, but she doesn't want anyone doing the same to her.

David Tennant *is* Scottish silly!
I love this season so much because it gives so much depth to Crowley!! And the "Aziraphale has learned this lesson before." And "He's always been and wants to always be an angel" makes him less prone to change due to the fact that having an open mind makes it harder to do his job which can make him a bit stagnant in character development. He said Crowley goes to fast for him and that also makes sense since Crowley has always been growing and changing. Also I feel so bad because in this episode it shows him doing a truly selfless act in order to help a stranger and immediately the ground swallows him up into Hell. He cares so much and thats why I think he's positively adorable!! Can't wait for season 3/ last season to come out so Az can finally get that much needed growth. I really think this season will be a catalyst for that!!

Yes please! I'm going to be rewatching this month too. I love Good Omens and recently been reading more of Terry Pratchett's books in general. Absolutely loving how much of an imaginative writer he was! You can really see his style of humour seeping into the GO's series adaptions too, especially in S1. It would be so disappointing to see the show end on such a cliff hanger (wait until you get to the final ep) and i'd be sad to not be able to see what Sir Terry had envisioned and planed with Neil for the unwritten sequel that S3 will be based on if it goes ahead. Let's show Amazon how much we love the series!

The funniest part of that Scottish accent is that it sounds slightly exaggerated, so a little fake. When David Tennant is Scottish. Like how good of an actor to make your own accent sound fake.
because that's the joke. they both try and pretend to be Scottish after Elspbeth refers to them as English. Crowley puts on a VERY bad fake Scottish Accent, and Aziraphale introduces himself as Dr McFell. the point is, they're both very unconvincing. David actually being Scottish just makes it funnier
and just like that, with one video, Monday just got a lil better lol. I always get so excited when you upload a new GOmens video. it also means, though, that we are one ep closer to the season finale....I've seen it 10+ times and I'm still not prepared to see it again 😭

David Tennant uses at least 5 different Scots accents here. Scotland's currency is the same as England's. A guinea is an amount in pounds plus the same number in shillings. So 30 guineas is 30 pounds and 30 shillings.

Apparently, there was going to be one of these "Mini-Sodes" in season 2, where we wouldve seen Crowley and Aziraphale in the 1950's (i belive) presenting as Women!
When asked about the concept comming back in season 3, Gaimen denied that it wouldnt return. Saying it wouldve only fit this story mode.

Got here 27 minutes after upload. In the time I watched and read through the 203 (at the time) comments, viewership jumped from ~3500 to 6320. Make that 6377. Now 6403. It's literally upticking by 50 views every 15 seconds. Now 6458. So no disrespect to the folks asking Danny to go back to doing reacts for other shows, or to start new ones, but the GO fandom is absolutely LOVING this. There are only 3 more episodes left in this season, and season 3 is currently on hiatus for an undetermined amount of time. Aziraphale is a traditionalist and a sentimentalist at heart. Crowley is always heading for modernity and is always reworking ideas and thinking these through. Aziraphale is a dedicated angel who has a strong sense of whats right and Crowley fell for asking too many questions.

I just have to give the show credit when discussing resurectionists that they explained, it was only legal to use the bodies of executed murders for anatomical study, and showing a booby trap that would have existed to prevent grave robbing. I do wish that that had explained about how devastating it would have been at the time for a family to have their loved ones body stolen. This was a period/ culture where it was strongly believed that bodies needed to stay whole for people to come back during the resurection. Also would have been nice if they jad included the fact that clothes would have been left at the grave because having stolen items would have been theft and punished as such but bodies aren't property so there were no real punishments for taking them.

Personally my usual script is as messy as it gets, but when writing in cursive it gets 100x prettier, so that's always a possibility
Point of order, David Tennant is Scottish, his natural accent is scottish.
To be fair, Danny said *Crowley* was trying out a Scottish accent, not that David Tennant was.
that is not his natural accent though. the joke is that Crowley is pretending to be Scottish, and isn't good at it. just like Aziraphale adding Mc to the beginning of the surname he uses isn't exactly convincing.
You met Muriel (the angel in the constable outfit) in the previous season. Muriel looked over the contract between God and Satan regarding Job. Aziraphale refers to Muriel as "they," so they use they/them pronouns, but this is very easy to miss. Quelin Sepulveda, who plays the part, has tended to use she/her when referring to Muriel in interviews. The writers used they/them in the script because they hadn't cast the character yet, but then decided to go with that as being nonbinary.
Which all of the angels and demons are pretty much, but all the male-presenting ones are referred to as he/him -- Crowley (mostly), Aziraphale, Gabriel, Hastur, Ligur -- and all the female-presenting whom pronouns are used for (which was basically two, Beelzebub and Muriel; I don't think Michael, Uriel, or Saraqael are ever referred to by pronouns, although Liz Carr refers to her character in interviews as she) were referred to as they/them until we got Shax, who is she/her. It might be nice to see someone more ambiguous or male-presenting who uses they/them.
TLDR: Muriel is they/them and we saw them last year in Heaven going over the Job contract for Aziraphale.

The way that someone is totally wrong like tf, like that’s their dance. Crowley knows Aziraphale does this and that then lets him bcs he puts up a front that he dislikes it bcs he’s a demon with a reputation so he can’t actively be kind to Aziraphale so this way is a roundabout way of showing he cares
Aziraphale knows and trusts Crowley enough to know that he’ll stop when Crowley would say to stop

Also, fun fact - Everyday was originally supposed to be the theme song of Good Omens. Terry and Neil decided on that way back in 1991, but for various reasons that didn't happen for season 1, so Neil repurposed it for this season instead and I absolutely love that.
