Almudena Cid from Spain, who was 16 years old at the time, showed a great performance at the Olympic Games in Atlanta and thus directly achieved a great 9th place at her first Games. She is a great athlete who knows exactly how to combine movement with the sports equipment. Have fun watching!

You can see perfectly how that 16 yo girl became a woman and how she endured the drastic changes the sport went after 2001, how it was becoming more physically demanding as the years gone by and despite this as she was getting older she tried to mantain her level at the sport and her relevance in the rhythmic gymnastics stage, it's true that in 2008 she didn't have the amazing body difficulties her peers had but she had the experience, the essence, the apparatus handling and the artistry other gymnasts didn't developed due to their careers come from another era where the emphasis was the back flexibility and not the work with the apparatus nor the execution, by the time Almudena was competing in her fourth Olympic final, the gymnasts for her first era were already coaching and preparing gymnasts that were competing with Almudena at the end of her career and yet she was there saying - Hey rhythmic gymnastics it's a sport also for women not just for girls, thanks for everything Almudena 🤗👏🏼✨
