  • Hi. This is my first real tabletop shortwave / communications receiver.
    It's a Yaesu FRG 7700.
It was manufactured in 1980 ( checked the serial number ). Which means it's 40 years old!
    I got it for 1000SEK ( around 100usd / 100 euro / 90 pounds )
In this video I am mainly going through the main parts of the radio and performance.
Tomorrow I will hopefully buy the FRA 7700.
I can say that it's mostly better than the PL 660 overall.
Sorry for the text and my bad editing.
    Here's the specifications.

Congratulations on the FRG7700. I have had mine for about 10 years now. I love this radio. Mine had a defective chip which made it jump frequencies but it was repaired and alignment and re-capped by Graham in the UK (radiochruncher). Now she's Dxing like never before. 73s Brian

Yeah! I actually sold this and eventually bought a broken Kenwood TS-850, which I restored which is way, way more useful as an amateur radio operator, since it both transmits and receives. However it has got problems now and I don’t really know what the problem is, it creates a bunch of internal pops and crackles, almost as if a distant thunderstorm would be around.

Nice!
