This is so good to watch! A foreigner teaching a foreigner you can't see that often anywhere but in the Philippines! Thank you Bret for loving and appreciating the culture and living it! I can see how genuine you are just by going above and beyond to show your visitors the local way. Salute to you! You are becoming a filipino on that hospitality and pride you have exemplified in this video. More vlogs like this! Keep going and doing you! 🙏 PS: You do make a good chef I think. 🤔😉
I remember when my friends and I went island hopping around Siargao and our tour guide was a Swedish dude name Björn 😂 a Filipino being guided around our country by a foreigner was funny and interesting. We all had a wonderful time!
Man, even Cool-ass don't even do what you know the Filipino way of preparing the eggplant. But you look like a pro Filipino cook. I'm so proud of you. Mabuhay ka.
You know when you do immersion to learn a culture. Bret brought it to a higher level because he incorporates it to his own personality and preference. It’s a fusion.
Bret, you're not just full of love, but full of art, too. The dish looks so delicious! Your friends are so nice and cool. You made our Sunday happier. Thanks much!
This is heartwarming! Your friends are such good sports and not maarte trying all the new things. I can see how genuinely proud and excited you are showing them the ways of life there. Love all your vlogs ❤
This made me emotional, Bret! I wish I get the opportunity to teach my children too how to “kagud” a coconut. Bret, you are a wonderful friend to your friends, passing what you learned to live the Authentic Filipino life🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I was smiling from ear to ear watching this. So proud of you, Bret. You have come a long way. Love how you're teaching your friends about Filipino culture. You showed them true Filipino hospitality. You are truly Filipino by heart. Mabuhay, Bret!🙌💖🇵🇭
It's amazing that you shared the whole process with them. When I learned these when I was young, it made me appreciate the finished product knowing the labor that went into it. It also made me appreciate the value of what we pay for at the supermarket if we want to skip all these and just buy the already prepared ingredients.
I’m so proud how patient you are extracting coconut and do the local way! Such amazing to watch embracing our culture. This is what makes food authentic and healthy.
Right accent Bret! BISDAK na gyud ka! Para mas daghan pure coco milk add half cup of warm water sa kinagod nga lubi. Then squeeze tight. Salain ng strainer or use cheese cloth to squeeze all the liquid. Its ok din pag napadami mo tubig sa kinagod na lubi or coconut. Place the liquid in ref, then after a while the pure milk will settle on top of the container. Kakang gata in Tagalog. Its oily and less dense that it will float on top of water. ❤
Keep going Bret! Don’t stop vlogging, this is your time to share to the whole world your purpose! Btw, I was so feeling blue the other day and I remember you saying to “ride it out”. Oh man, that really helped! That is living. I’ve been sharing this to my friends who were going through something. For sure, you’ve helped 1 person in California and that’s me. Salamat and respect. - Amor from 🇺🇸
Surprising benefits of the Coconut Embryo The mature coconuts are collected regularly for their milk. You can usually crack open a coconut for lunch and in the older, mature coconuts you'll sometimes find a soft, spongey type formation on the inside of the coconut. This happens when the coconut is ready to shoot some leaves out and is an edible, soft predecessor. This part is actually the Coconut Cotyledon which is sometimes called the 'Coconut Embryo' or 'Coconut Apple' and is suspended in germination and is generally eaten raw. Samoans call this part of the Coconut O'o, Tongans, Tahitians and Cook Islanders call it 'Uto, Niueans name for it is Niu Tupu, the Fijians call it Vara and Hawaiians refer to it as iho or lolo! We all know that Coconut water and meat are very nutritious so don't underestimate this one! Here are the Top 10 Health benefits of the Coconut Embryo: 1. Supports immune system health: it is anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-parasite. 2. Provides a natural source of quick energy and enhances physical and athletic performance. 3. Improves digestion and absorption of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals 4. Improves insulin secretion and symptoms associated with diabetes. 5. Helps protect the body from cancers due to insulin reduction, removal of free radicals that cause premature aging and degenerative disease. 6. Reduces risk of heart health and improves good cholesterol (HDL). 7. Restores and supports thyroid function. 8. Helps protect against kidney disease and bladder infection. 9. Promotes weight loss. 10. Helps keep hair and skin healthy and youthful looking, prevents wrinkles, sagging skin, age spots, and provides sun protection
Oh! Your friend's reaction when you showed them how to use the kudkuran is just awesome! You, as their Teacher so patient as well - while giving them time how to use it is really a beautiful experience to sum it all! You're so good at doing the kagud now! Bravo! Food connects us with people & culture - love this! Thanks for the trip keeping hot talong inside the container for easy peeling, learned something new 😍 Enjoy the rest of your adventure there and look forward to your next video. Another great story again. Full of good vibes indeed
yes that coconut with very short young shoot has good buwa..taste sweet...kasi ung last time na inupen mo had already long shoot..try it with ur friends..gala2 pa more..kudkuran para sa lubi to be used for gata(coconut milk) nmit sa kinilaw nga mkahang.
To get coconut milk, you should have added some water because I remember my late Mom didn't make that Herculian effort to squeeze the grated coconut meat for ginataan viands like raw jackfruit (ginataang langka); banana blossom (ginataang puso ng saging cut thinly, mashed with salt then rinse 3 times and then sauteed with little oil, garlic, onion, and peeled and deveined shrimps, (removed promptly only the shrimps so as not to overcook, set aside) then add the langka, when already a bit soft, add the coconut milk, the shrimp and some hot water for more soup. To taste, add salt and pepper & long green chili.
You've got lots of friends and acquaintance. You rock Brett. How quick to put in practice the local culture, you are amazing. Lots of expats will learn from you. How lucky the Philippines to have you.
