  • Hey everyone! In this video, I breakdown how to add copper shielding to your guitar or bass, so you can reduce or eliminate annoying static, hum, and noise that comes with cheaper instruments! Most of them have no shielding at all, or a little bit of conductive paint.
Let me know if I missed anything, and if you need any further tips, leave a comment!
Be blessed, friends, and wherever you are, I hope you're doing something you love!
List of items you'll need (no affiliations with linked products):
    -Screwdriver
    -Scissors
-Copper Wire (preferably frayed wire, not the solid one)
-Copper Shielding tape (needs to have conductive adhesive!) www.amazon.com...
-Eraser (helps smooth out tape in corners without splitting or cutting it)

Dude... thank you for posting this video! I am in the process of trying to shield my bass and this helped a lot. I don't have a sodering iron so I'm glad to see that you can just use the tape to connect the ground wire from one cavity to another. I'm going to try this tonight. Did you notice much of a decrease in the background noise after doing this?

@@paulfield6815 yes it does cut down on a lot of the noise! With single coil pickups (and cheaper, high output pickups like the ones in the video), you won't totally eliminate it, but this helps. Make sure you have good clean contact on any ground points as well (under the bridge, ground solders on pots, etc.).
