  • Multiple fire officials have criticized a so-called USFS "let it burn" policy, saying it's reckless. We verify if the policy even exists.

The "Bear" fire 🔥 that is burning in the Colfax, Grass Valley, Alta Sierra area right now, is in a evacuation area that has homes, on 5 to 10+ acre lots, occupied by real families with everything they own, and family heirlooms, and pets, going up in smoke. God bless the Firefighters, Lord keep them safe. ✌😢

Folks don’t understand CalFire has the structure mindset and hardly cares about protecting natural resources.

When I was working for a logging company driving a water truck. I asked US forestry fires started by lightning and they said they don't go out until fire eats 5 acres or more to justify the outlay of manpower and equipment

The Tamarack fire was very small and sat in sparsely vegetated rocky terrain for 12 days not growing. There were other fires that were actually growing and needed the resources. I doubt Cal Fire would have put it out then either. It was a non-threat until July 16th when it started growing and USFS immediately put resources on it.

Get real & stop thinking like this is about right & wrong, cause it ain't. I used to be like you & now I know the truth & it's all about the money & who's who... cal fire refused to sign contracts for aircraft & hot shots have been quiting due to hourly wages less then $14 per hour.. do your research so we can all join together to make it write

CALFIRE wanted to jump on the Tamarack Fire early, as did the locals. USFS would not let them. USFS has a long standing litany of excuses they use.
      "We"re monitoring the fire"
      "We don't have the resources"
"We can't access the fire because of rugged terrain"
All of those excuses are BS. That is exactly the excuses they used on the Caldor Fire. They said they couldn't get into the area where the fire started because it was too rugged. Complete BS. Then they said they had no resources, even though they had several trucks and crews parked about 2 miles to the north. The crews told locals they were ordered by administrators to let the fire come to them.
CALFIRE had a battalion chief on site. He told a couple that I am friends with "F**k this! I am bringing in crews and dozers tomorrow and knocking this fire down!" That night the fire took off and the rest is history.
I know two retired USFS foresters and one still working for the agency. They are frustrated and embarrassed by administrative types and their policies.

The Dixie fire burned 10 days on one tree. USFS obstructed Cal Fire efforts. USFS employees are no different than the Germans in WWII collecting paychecks regardless of the abuse of power under the color of law and the lost lives and property!
