  • What’s up guys! Welcome back to my channel, for today’s video, let us take a boat ride from Padre Burgos to Limasawa Island.
REMINDERS! There are currently travel restrictions within Philippines.
    Padre Burgos
Padre Burgos, is a 5th class municipality in the province of Southern Leyte, Philippines. Padre Burgos is named after Fr. José Burgos, one of the martyred priests collectively called Gomburza.
The little known town of Padre Burgos can be found in the Sogod Bay region of Southern Leyte in the Philippines, and is a relatively unheard of dive destination. Possibly one of South East Asias’s best kept secrets, Padre Burgos and it’s surrounding areas offer some of the worlds finest coral reefs and outstanding night diving, not to mention the chance to see whale sharks.
Getting from Cebu to Padre Burgos
The distance between Cebu City and Padre Burgos is approximately 127 km.
There are several ferry routes to choose from, and some will get you to Padre Burgos quicker than others. Ferries in the Philippines are notorious for late notice cancellations so be prepared, your journey may change at the last minute.
If you are from Cebu, you may take a Roble Ferry or the Gloria G1 which leaves from Pier 3 in Cebu to Hilongos, taking around 4 hours. This is a longer time on the water, but a shorter time on the road coming to the same total journey time, at a lower overall cost. The ferry departs from Cebu at 12:00 noon or you may choose the night trip at 9:00PM. And there are two trips from Hilongos to Cebu which is at 11:00AM and 11:00PM. Fares ranges from 265 - 275 philippine currency. The land transfer to Padre Burgos from Hilongos takes an hour and a half and can be reached by shared vehicle or bus.
Best time to visit Padre Burgos
Padre Burgos is just outside of the typhoon belt, and enjoys good weather all year round. There is considerably more rain in January and February but this does not affect diving. Whale Shark season runs from late October until early May, but this has a tendency to shift. Visibility is excellent and the water temperature is around 30 degrees throughout the year.
    LIMASAWA ISLAND
Limasawa, officially the Municipality of Limasawa is an island municipality in the province of Southern Leyte, Philippines.
Before it was part of the Municipality of Padre Burgos. At the request of the residents of the island of Limasawa, the six barangays that comprise the island were detached and separated from the municipality of Padre Burgos through Presidential Decree No. 1549, signed by then President Ferdinand Marcos on June 11, 1978, and constituted as the Municipality of Limasawa.
Limasawa completely became a municipality on August 27, 1989, after former President Corazon Aquino ordered the plebiscite which its residents voted in favor of the creation. The island, also known as Sarangani Island, is located south of Leyte, in the Mindanao or Bohol Sea. It is about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) long from north to south and is the smallest municipality in the province, in both area and population.
Limasawa is famous as it is believed to be the site of the first mass in Philippine soil, officiated on Easter Sunday of March 31, 1521 by Father Pedro de Valderrama under the fleet of Ferdinand Magellan.
