    Wow, what a change! We were last there March, 2021 and they were under construction. Nassau needed to step up their game, seems like they did! Thanks for this!

    Wow, this will beat walking on that busy street trying to get to Junkanoo Beach and Senor Frogs. Thanks for the update. 👍🏾

    It’s amazing how quickly they finished the port from the time I first say it though early June and now. It’s quite beautiful. I will add however, I spoke with some folks in the straw market in June of this year. And I asked who would be moving into the port market area. Most of them said they could not afford the $400+/month rent for a small space. And they were very concerned about the loss of business due to the new port market. So making the area prettier for tourists but unobtainable for most of the locals will likely make the economic situation for them worse.
    And it is more likely that the everyday trinkets will cost substantially more in the port market. I can only hope that the government’s next project is to fix up the sidewalks and streets in the downtown area near the port to make walking around that area safer and more attractive. If you have a chance to do so, consider patronizing the smaller sellers and stores.

      Great feedback and thank you for mentioning this! That very well could be the case and I do hope folks continue to support businesses outside of the gates! Love showcasing local business in Nassau and will see if I can find more to help drive this!

    What in the world happened? Lol I was just there in March and this whole area was just a covered fence and dust lol. Absolutely mind blowing it’s like it just POOFED and a whole new port lol… not only did I think they were just making a welcome building from the dock but I didn’t know it was going to extend all the way to senior frogs. I think this will make Nassau which has never been the greatest port actually a lot better. Also, because it’s extended so far I love how I won’t be harassed the second I walk away from the docks.

    Do they have transport from the furthest ship berths into the new area?

    • @TheWeekendCruiser
      @TheWeekendCruiser  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is EXTREMELY limited.... This is certainly an area that I am hoping they figure out as the walk from the RCL spots is no joke! They have multiple golf carts there but I have hardly seen them move. They need to get the bigger shuttles like CocoCay has.

    $11 per person for the junkanoo museum, it was ABSOLUTLELY EMPTY. Isola Gelato was $8 a scoop plus tax, wasnt a big scoop and it stunk on the inside but the gelato was good on the outside.

    • @TheWeekendCruiser
      @TheWeekendCruiser  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I was VERY surprised Junkanoo museum had that high of an entry fee and I decided not to pay it. The gelato place is one I plan on checking out soon! Hopefully, they refine their process! I also love a 3 scoop milkshake. That sounds like a $30 options :-x

      You know, it didn't seem like a traditional straw market I was used to! Think I read a directional sign to straw market anf assumed they were calling the port vendors the state market too.

    This looks great! Glad the hair braiders are still there, they do great work! It is giving MSC Ocean Cay vibes. Looks really nice, much better! Definitely seems pretty calm, wonder if that’s because the kids just went back to school? Can’t wait to visit! Did you notice how much transportation was to Atlantis?

    • @TheWeekendCruiser
      @TheWeekendCruiser  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not notice the van shuttle prices BUT! I did notice they have a Paradise Island boat ferry that runs every 30 minutes (Bahamian time) for $7 per person each way that leaves from the cruise port pier.

      She sure is my favorite!! Get the cabin you will be most happy in! Just remember, whatever cabin you choose, you are setting the bar for yourself. If you go again, you will have to book at least that level or higher 😂 For four nights, any option will be perfect.

    We have not been to Nassau in about 7 years. We have been there about 7 times over the prior 10 cruises and got tired of the people trying sell us stuff. The new straw market looks much nicer and it also seems like the vendors are far less forceful in their selling technics. We will be there in June 2024 on Carnival and will have as much fun as we can.

      It is really easy Kelly! Walk through the port terminal in Nassau, walk behind the taxi stand, take the exit that has a gelato shop on the corner, and then go right after you exit the gate. It is one block away!

    😮what is your advice to us that would like to go on a cruise almost every weekend?

    • @TheWeekendCruiser
      @TheWeekendCruiser  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Make tough life decisions. You will need to relocate to be closer to a cruise port, Have full-time jobs that allow you the ability to leave early on Friday or at least work remote on Friday afternoon, and prioritize your budget for only cruising. Don't lock yourself into one cruise line and look for the one that's going to work best for you and your budget.

    I hope it will really be an improvement in terms of handling the logistics (getting off and on) of 15000 passengers on a busy day, but for the rest - it looks like any other fake-authentic caribbean tourist trap. Give me any of a hundred smaller European ports where you can just walk off the ship and into the heart of the town, with the town actually retaining its unique character

    • @TheWeekendCruiser
      @TheWeekendCruiser  ปีที่แล้ว

      I go back and forth on this one and thank you for mentioning! I hope Nassau has found a way to show their culture and character but also making it modern. If people are ever going to want to get off the ship and experience Nassau, they have to try something. But agree, I love going places where you can see the charm and charachter.

      The temporary straw market that was built directly across the port in the memorial park was not there. However, the traditional straw market remains down the street in the building. Prices are merchandise are a higher quality at the port.

    Nassau is a port you stay on the ship. The New and Improved terminal is nothing but cheap Tshirts and Trinkets that are made in China.
    Most experienced cruisers stay on the ship while in Nassau.

      Experienced cruisers? That makes no sense. Spend all that money booking a cruise to enjoy your vacation and get out to enjoy yourself on the island, excursions, food, etc. just to stay on the ship and skinny dip in the pool. Why go on a cruise then. LIVE LIFE MAN…..
