I really like these look backs, it is good to have a balance against "cult of the new" :) doing for your yearly top 10s is a great idea! :D I guess you will not have culled as many of those though!
No, probably haven’t culled many of the top 10s, but it was fun to lool back at the 2017 list and see how we felt about it! :) Glad you are enjoying the lookbacks!
re: ones you jettisoned, i would have kept rise, beer & bread and discordia. i wish starship captain had a bit more going on, since i liked what was there but it just wasn't enough. re: ones you kept, i agree with whole heartedly on atiwa, caldera park, akropolis, woodcraff and federation :)
A lot of people liked Beer & Bread, but sadly it didn’t work for us. Discordia was just a case of «too many games», as I did really enjoy it. So manny good games! We are lucky to be able to experience all these fantastic ideas and puzzles all these amazing designers has made for us!
There are still so many games from you list (both the ones you've kept and those you haven't) that are still on my want to play list, and I haven't had a chance. Regarding the Akropolis expansion - I'm not sure it's out yet (I was told it should be released around October). I saw an overview of the expansion and it looks great, adding just enough to the game, it's one of the few things that will probably be an instant buy for me
I love looking back at the games that stood the test of time! Those are ones I am trying to invest in! 🤗 and then sprinkling in some new ones occasionally! 😊
Glad to hear you enjoyed it! I love looking back, as we are always on the move forward. Taking some time to look at «older» games we love always makes me happy.
Good group of games. We've enjoyed Tindaya. Would be interesting to hear why that one wasn't a keep for you guys. Have had Federation in my cart on several occasions but haven't ever bought it. Not sure I "need" another heavy euro but your video makes me want to go back and put it in my cart again!
I love Federation, but that doesn't mean that everyone needs it, hehe. (PS: I think you need it :P) Tindaya was good, so the easy answer is that we cannot keep everything :)
Hi Johannes and Sunniva, thank you for this series. It’s good to see a few “older”games that stood the “test of time” and how they may still be relevant. 🎉
Really enjoy these look backs! I'm all for more of them! Good to reflect and see what stuck around and stood the test of time, and some games don't and that's okay they can go to a new home.
Really fun video! Great games stay around but even very good games are often forgotten after a year or two. Love Akropolis and Turing Machine. Two games I haven’t played for 1+ year. Need to try Federation. On my wishlist since your initial review. It is expensive, at least where I live.
Discordia was a big surprise for me, 1,5 years later xD I only played it once it got available at yucata. But men... I really enjoy playing it. Planet B I only did a demo in a dutch fair, but I am still very curious to try a full game of it. The price tag is the hard part
Interesting that you kept Turing Machine. We were so hyped for this game and brought in Essen, but we are both people working with numbers. When we had it on the table and looked through the machines, there were allways obvious questions you ask first, since they will give you statistically the most information. So we played it 5 times and always started with almost the same questions each round. Afterwards we sold it. Great idea, but the machines within each task were not balanced enough.
Of all the games you highlighted, I only have the biggest (Federation) and the smallest (Sea Salt & Paper and Splendor Duel). 2022 was a year of extremes! :-)
Great overview and really worthwhile reflecting back to recent years to understand which games have passed the test of time ! Wasn’t „Revive“ also an Essen release in 2022 ? But maybe I‘m mistaken 🤔 Also: I am very keen to see whether German Millan‘s upcoming Essen release „Men-Nefer“ will be as good as „Sabika“ !
Revive was absolutely a Spiel 22 release, but we had it before Spiel :) We had to make some distinction on what to add here, so we only have all the games we actually brought home :)
Oh no! Missing _Findorff_ from your shelf! All the good bits of _Power Grid_ . Though _Fasanerie_ aka _Fancy Feathers_ strikes me as a little bit to much push your luck.
I like Applejack, but then I'm a sucker for an Uwe game. I still have SO many games I have yet to play, so I guess I'll find out what is and is not worth keeping someday! I appreciate your list and input. I agree that Atiwa is a bit of a departure from Uwe's other games. I held out on Turing Machine because it seemed like once you played a few games it would become boring.
Thanks a lot again for Federation !!! We need to see each other at Spiel, I would love to give you a gift :D ! And (Exclusive Information) maybe we could play the expansion (still prototype but playable) :)
Yes, we are doing both a video talking about all the Spiel 24 releases we have already played, and one with 20 games we are anticipating at the show! The plan is to get them out before the weekend :)
I would not have culled neither Lacrimosa nor Beer & Bread. Those are big keeps for me. Of your keeps I have Woodcraft, Akropolis, Turning Machine and Splendor Duel.
Nice to see the games that stand the time. Would also be nice to see older lists, like "games from 2010-1015 we still own"
I agree! Maybe do s «Top 10 games from 2010-2015» or something like that? Thanks for the suggestion!

Discordia is a great game and in my opinion the best from this list. I also like, Woodcraft, Sabika and Federation.
Happy to hear you’re enjoying Discordia! It is a very interesting game!

Great look back. Thankyou for bringing Federation to my attention. I love it. It stands out and is one of my favorit games. Ha det bra.😊
So happy to hear that! Federation truly is awesome 🤩 Also glad you enjoyed the video! Ha det bra 🤩
very enjoyable video! thank you! I'm most interested in Sea Salt and Paper, Akropolis, and War of the Ring
Turning Machine and Akropolis are my faves. Thabks for the recap visit
Glad you enjoyed it! 🤩

Thank you so much! Super happy to hear that :)
@@BoardGamingRamblings maybe you can also consider doing top 10 or 20 games of 2020’s, 2010’s, etc!
Great ideas!
Great vid, thanks!!
Great video as always!! Woodcraft is 100% a brain cruncher, took 2 solid play throughs to love it. Federation is on my list now!!!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :D
Nice list. I have Splendor Duel and Turing Machine from your list, and I love both.
Really looking forward to play them both some more!

Thank you! Glad to hear 🤩 I love looking forward, but I like this balance of looking back at older games as well!

Glad you enjoyed it! Akropolis is fantastic, and I do really want to play Turing Machine some more.

It’s a very interesting design for sure! Glad to hear you’re enjoying it!
Glad to see you liked Woodcraft. I think I like Underwater Cities better, but Woodcraft is a close 2nd for me.

I need to play it more, but I did enjoy my plays of it so far :D

Yeah, I did like it, but it's just too many games, too little space to keep all of them, because we shouldn't really keep games in the shower :P
Love woodcraft. Maybe I'll buy akropolis and federation :)
All three are fantastic games 🥳
Me too, Woodcraft is fantastic and has so much theme
Love Federation. Very Underrated. Curious why you culled Lacrimosa. That is also one of our favorites.
We enjoyed Lacrimosa, but there are just too many games. If we kept all games we enjoyed, we wouldn't be able to move around :P
I like Applejack, but then I'm a sucker for an Uwe game. I still have SO many games I have yet to play, so I guess I'll find out what is and is not worth keeping someday! Yeah, Uwe is a great designer, and I always want to try whatever he makes!
I could cull everything except Mage Knight, Too Many Bones, Marvel Champions, Kemet, and Dune Uprising
Sounds like you really know what you like! That is awesome 🤩
Jag har inte spelat ett enda spel. Men skulle jag välja så är det Woodcraft =)
Woodcraft is great 😁
I would really like a video about all Lord of the Rings themes games 😍
I don't think we have played that many, but I'll take a look! Thanks for the idea :D
Please make a top 20 list of heavy games.
Thanks a lot again for Federation !!! We need to see each other at Spiel, I would love to give you a gift :D !
And (Exclusive Information) maybe we could play the expansion (still prototype but playable) :)
Would love to see you there! If you can send us a message on Instagram or Messenger, we should absolutely plan to meet! :)
@@BoardGamingRamblings I will do that ! :D

Yes, we are doing both a video talking about all the Spiel 24 releases we have already played, and one with 20 games we are anticipating at the show!
