@@Hawkeye83627 true, thats the essence of what happened here. it also implies that you as a customer, that may is interested in more niche systems, is to buy all models at once if you initially like the system, so you can be sure to, you know, be set up for a game, kind of. If it is then to be dead on spot or later on does not affect you as much. did we have the time to buy all the models we need? yes. did we fear the worst when AMG got the license for pretty much nothing? hells yeah. but solid 2 years later, they feel sorry. all good.

@@terranceskill Ehhhh, not entirely true imo. I was fresh out of highschool when Armada released, going to college I barely had money for food, let alone a tabletop game. I'm shocked and surprised I didn't hear about it then because I'm a gigantic Star Wars nerd. As much as I love FFG for making it, I feel like they botched the marketing. I lived breathed ate drank and slept Star Wars for years, it was only ahead of the Starhawk's release in the game that I heard about it for the first time.
Gotta disagree about AMG being sorry. They didn't do anything to keep the game afloat. They didn't reach out to the community to see if they could keep the product going in a more profitable way. They're not sorry because they didn't really care much or at all from the beginning.
I'm not exactly extra bothered by that byw, I just always have to roll my eyes and flip the finger at a company saying 'sorry' when they didn't really care in the first place. I'm hoping maybe I can cop a good deal off anyone who dumps their collection, I know I'll be keeping mine.

The new Battletech boxes coming with one of the four minis in them pre-painted in notable color schemes for a hero mech or something similar plus full color unit cards are only a little bit more expensive than what AMG and Asmodee were charging for a single ship mini.
AMG and Asmodee are just using any excuse they can to justify how poorly this game has been run since the move to AMG.

They may have switched to sprue’s but when this whole embracer group debt thing occurred it wasn’t cost effective to switch production models

I stepped into X-wing a month after 2.5 launch. I played it for over a year with joy and went to tournaments across the country. But after a year of playing all I saw was 'stale' gameplay. I was just moving my side of ships to my opponents, there was no real dogfighting. The game needed more player control in the outcome not objectives to keep me interested and wandering what I could do. Objectives made things more deterministic. Objectives forced things down from gameplay decisions to listbuilding level which leaves less space for creativity. I'm hoping they announce a new developer at next World's or earlier.

Of course there won't be reprints. They are quoting production costs of painted minis as a primary reason to discontinue the games.
"New game in 2026". After how they have handled these 2 IPs it's a hard pass. NO WAY am I going ot buy in to a new Star Wars space minis game after having dumped literal hundreds and hundreds of dollars in to X-wing. AMG/Asmodee can go jump off a cliff before I buy into anything else that's not self contained/complete in the box item.

If they cancel Legion, then I'll rely entirely on 3D printed miniature collections and custom games. Maybe the FFG RPG.

@@keithpalmer4547 here is the problem with that logic. When xwing first introduced medium ships, a large ship was $30, a medium $20, and a small $15. The new Star Trek core set features 2 large ships 1 medium ship and 3 small ships. At the prices listed above, that's $125 for just the ships alone. Wizkids is charging $150 for the core set. Remember that the core set also comes with everything else required to play the game. Does that seem like a huge price increase to you?

I got into Armada around the time the Clone Wars wave released, and I have always felt like I was douped. The game was bassically abandoned shortly after I bought into it. You hit the nail on the head. How do you end development when you never started?

    Not surprised at all.
We didn´t even get blackbox re-releases for all of the 1.0 content before they stopped caring and simply phoning in their overprized cards only expansions.
Then they forced the game into a weird "hero shooter" style with 2.5 and only blackbox releases were legal. That killed the game for me.

No reprints suggests (to me) end of license. Those moments across companies, IPs, and even other games (rpg) seem to come with an initial stage of product liquidation followed by no more ability to sell it (in phys or e-versions).
Why reprint if you can't sell that product 6 or 12 months from now...

Just moves it to the community like what happenned with Epic and Warhammer Fantasy Battle years ago. Epic really never died, and honestly got better with the community editions. Armada already had an incredible custom ship communiity trying to fill in the gaps. Asmodee impressively mismanaged the IP, transfering it to AMG who had no resources or heart to do anything with it. Went from the #2 and #3 games in most of the stores I know of, to being a rounding error, specifically from mismanagement; people still playing like crazy (although Battletech and various Warhammer games have overtaken XWing and of course Armada in general sales and in many cases play-wise).

hey crabbok, have you ever tried playing adeptus titanicus? its like a fleet game but theyre just big stompy titans on land which i think you will like.. its GW yes but its one of the best game systems for something close to a fleet game and i wish it was a fleetgame. There are reactor management, big crazy guns, very interesting destruction mechanics, ship like movements and more!. The "squadrons" are knights scuttling around with different movement and attack rules just like armada. You should check it out.

The 2018 edition was AMAZEBALLS. A few minor balance issues in later stuff that needed little tweaks, but overall an absolutely solid game. I started GW games with the original 1980's version, and was very happy with the reboot; note I also play/played many other games (Epic 1st-2nd, Dropzone Commander 1.0-2.0, Dropfleet Commander, SW Armada, Xwing, Warhammer Fantasy Battle and WH40k from their earliest editions to modern community variants, Batletech, Silent Death, Centurion, etc, etc, etc....), and AT2018 easily stands as an amazingly well done game...

leaves me 2 ships short of my Armada set (venator and arquiten), have 3d printed arquitens but really wanted the real thing. AMG was always going to do this, seemed Legion was going to survive due to overlap with shatterpoint development and their own skirmish rules. • @Kubbbbek

I had to think a bit about this for a moment...
Discontinuation of X-wing and Armada is a bit of no suprise considering what we got over the last months regarding communication. This I expected a bit (I did not want to listen to this idea, but it was at the back of my mind...)
What I think that suprised me was that this was sent now - I was expecting to get this information on next year Adepticon.
And speaking of Adepticon - AMG lost my respect. Not because of this communication - that (as I said) I was expecting. You lost my respect because you didn't have courage to declare this on this years Adepticon.
You did not have balls to stand in front of a massive crowd of fans and say "Sorry, we are ending the game". Instead you decided to post this in the net, hiding behind Internet walls, on Thursday, hoping the tsunami of comments will pass over the weekend and you Monday will be business as usual.
I am not mad at you AMG...
    I am dissapointed...
