Thank God for Chuck Berry and what he gave the world. He was one of a handful of people who could truthfully say that they had invented rock music.

Chuck was his own man. Even the bands he played with, he usually didn't rehearse with.
He just showed up in his own car. I think he had a volkswagon.
Walked onstage, and played. Then left.
He figured they knew his songs. They better know them.
Thats why, when you watch Chuck, often the band looks a little stiff. Keeping their eyes on him.
They didn't want to mess up. And they're not sure whats next. Pretty basic music. But Chuck would challenge them. Mix things up. And its Chuck Berry! Their big chance to play with The Godfather of rock.
Thats why you see him go play with them individually.
He's checkin to see if they're up to snuff.
Guys that played with him said it was exciting but a nervous time. Chuck had a rep for calling out dudes that messed up.
Even the biggest acts that from time to time played with Chuck, didnt know what he was gonna do.
Not to say anything bad about the other r&r greats. The Stones, The Beatles, Elvis etc.......
All the greats, covered Chuck songs. He didnt cover them.
I saw him a bunch of times. Was obviously a fan.
One time I saw him, he stopped playing and crossed his arms.
He said I'm not playing until that guy stops filming.
A guy in the front was recording.
    And Chuck meant it.
    All the music stopped.
    He just stood there.
Finally the guy put his camera away.
    The show resumed.
    He was his own man.
    Great performer.

@@Goldenchicoreacts Full disclosure. It should also be noted, he had some pretty disturbing legal issues.
I was too young to pay attention. Back in my youth, the media wasn't wall to wall. So you'd hear something, and it would disappear. Nah.... can't be true.
      Apparently, it be.
But, truth be told, I was no saint either so........
      Take care.

You seem like a cool cat man. Please keep reacting. Cheers. Take a look at "C'est la Vie" by Chuck Berry. Also, it was a song in a scene in "Pulp Fiction."

Chuck Berry would and could've made Elvis look like a punk if he would have wanted to. At best, Elvis was a average Rothman guitar player. At best. And there is no way in the world and could have moved and dance Chuck Berry especially at whatever age Chuck Berry was at the time. Look at Chuck singing and playing the guitar with Linda Ronstadt when he was singing "Nadine" or "Back in the USA". Heck Elvis could not even sing. half as good as Jackie Wilson could. And if you don't believe me, check out Jackie Wilson when he sang. a song called "Baby Workout". Heck Elvis could not sing as good as Wilson Pickett, check out when Wilson sang "Mustang Sally", "In the Midnight Hour" or even "Land of a thousand Dances". Or had a Vocal Range like Tom Jones no matter what Tom Jones would be singing or even like Little Richard in singing, writing and composing songs. Or could even come close to singing or playing the piano half as good as Jerry Lee Lewis or could even hold a candle to Prince who could not only sing and dance better than Elvis ever could but could write, compose, direct whatever his performance would call for but could play whatever musical instrument he desired to play but played them very well. And if you think that Elvis could sing sexier romantic songs better than Marvin Gaye, Al Green , Otis Redding, or even come close to a guy who could sing and dance a million times better than Mr. James Brown, brother you need to get your ears checked out and also get a pair of glasses. Was Elvis good? Hell yea'! But was he great and really deserved to be called "The King of Rock and Rkll" ? Not no but Hell no. Tech and to even think that he could out sing and dance better than Michael Jackson, brother you better check yourself into a rubber room . Like I said before Elvis was good but Elvis was not great. Enjoy Amigo. Enjoy. Let your eyes and your eyes be the judge of that. Adios. P.S. And oh yea' Amigo, I'm so glad that I didn't even start to talk about a man called Berry White. Damn, Elvis Presley wasn't even in his league with singing more romantic songs? Have a good one man. Be cool stay cool, be you.
