"Ancient" is a role that space marines can have within the company, not a modifier describing the age of the marine, it's the marine who carries the company standard. Baal is in this case the name of the home planet of the Blood Angels.
They look amazing from the front where it matters most because all the decorations cover up the lack of shading. From the back they look like a big hunk of plastic. I'm worried for the less decorated UM big gun versions.. The Honour guard looked cartoony with their lack of shading but i still ordered 3 because JT promised they would shade the production ones. If they all come out with barely noticeable to no shading i may just only keep 1 of the Honoured for the banner and 1 termie and stick'em at the back of the display where its dark.. @@kkownzor I saw it stated in the discord, not by them but people who are in communication with them. Also the host on their live stream said that there would now be shading after fans spammed the chat asking for it. I didnt see the stream myself, just repeating what someone else said on the discord.
@@AwesomeActionToys Too lightly.. i thought it may have been your lighting and shading may be more obvious in hand, but then you brought out that older Intercessor and Aggressor.. Someone said they went lighter on the black wash because people complained about the strong paint smell when you get them.. wtf.. Who cares!!! that goes after a few days. I recon its a cost and speed of production thing..
Thanks for another comprehensive reviews Sir. My own set arrived yesterday in Australia & they are indeed good looking figures - the sculpting is great, but they lack paint & some articulation. Aside from the lack of wrist articulation on the Lightning Claw guys (as you noted) - there is NO shoulder forward extending joint, just a shoulder swivel, which makes it difficult to bring their arms close in together (eg: to use the hammer 2-handed). The use of the rubbery strip on the shoulder pauldron is also not the best choice. I think they took a step backward from the previous Chaos Terminatos (eg: the recent "Word Bearer Chaos Terminator") which have BOTH a pull out shoulder joint (as with their basic Marines) and a separately ball jointed shoulder pauldron. I hope they reconsider their future design of these Terminators for other Chapters and go back to their Chaos Terminator engineering choices. All said, I still like them a LOT & would recommend them to buy.
So happy arm articulation is a tad better than the chaplain, that was disappointing. I get all Ultramartines, so I could not back down, but man, arm poseability on that is REALLY limited.
That absence of shading is very worrisome... why start to cut corners now when it was working so well ? Just charge us a tiny bit more and get the whole paint job Joytoy ! The difference is paint is showing here and it is way too much evident with the Imperial Fists. Wish I could get the Standard bearer at a good price, but I will pass as there is too much to get and these Terminators just don't quite compare to the Chaos ones or even the Grey Knight ones. The shielded ones are very nice for sure... if they had elephant horns like the Chaos, it would be an instant buy

Got these guys on the way to stand alongside Furioso but feeling mixed. Sure, an ultramarine termie with a white helmet contrasting against the blue armor will look great. But these guys just have a lot of bland red going on. Gonna have to buy an ink wash / gundam marker or something to grim these guys up.
Blood Angels Terminators still my favorite since 1995 Space Hulk game, still not a big fan of the new Primaris as it somehow look a bit too "Gundam" instead of the First born "industrial" look to them
@@AwesomeActionToys My first experience of the Warhammer universe! Even if the game was really flawed nowadays, not to mention I notice in the manual, the Emperor was not mentioned, also the Terminator armor was weird in that the Right Arm armor is missing

Nice review, but overly positive in my view. The lack of shading and attention to detail in the paint seems lacking. Seems like JoyToy are not producing the same quality as they have in the past. I am going to cancel my pre-order of these as I don't want to paint them. These almost look like the TMF figures. I was also kind of disappointed there was so little effort put into the paint job of the SW Tech Marine in the last review. Let's hope the RG figure is better. Thanks for the review.
And now pls tell me. Why do you already own them? They are not even out in Europe. We will have to wait something till October or even November. That is once more so unfair.
