Yet He did it whilst being completely sinless and perfect, didn’t make His case to Pilate who could’ve released Him, obeyed the Father all for us, who in times past hated Him and rebelled against Him, and yet He still died for us and brought us back to Him- the Saviour and Light of the world.
I watched this with my grandfather many years ago and during the scenes of Jesus getting tortured, I looked over at him and he was in tears. A man I never imagined I would ever see cry in my life. He fought in two wars and was as tough as nails. He never showed any emotion. I pray God let him into his kingdom, forgiven him for his sins, he lived a very tough life.
That's when you can feel the truth, the light, something real, genuine, divine. This spirit of God is within us. It's the light that over takes the darkness. It is love. It is pure.
I remember I watched this movie and I cried like a baby when I was a hindu.. My mom & dad both were sobbing too.. I immediately started hating the Jews & the Romans until the time came for my conversion of heart when I understand that for this very purpose Christ came, that He might die for our sins..... Thankyou Lord... We will never repay what you have done for us.. Help us to live a holy life to you...

The scene of Mary picking Jesus up when he fell as child and then seeing him fall w the cross had me in tears. A beautiful powerful beyond measure film. I will never ever forget it.

@@nupsi6 Jesus was human as well, no matter what you believe about his origin. He had a mother. His mother saw her son in pain and remembered the days she comforted him as a child. That "wet dream" you speak of is plausible humanity. And Hollywood is horrible. My family and I are Christian, and I specifically remember running to my room in tears during the whipping scene. I was maybe 11. I'd read the story of Jesus in the bible, but to see such a brutal reenactment in this film knowing it was so much worse in real life, I was so overwhelmed. I remember hyperventilating and began to pray. My mom came and checked on me and calmed me down. I haven't seen the movie since, but been having the urge to rewatch it now that I'm 29 and have transformed and grown so much in my walk with Christ.
I first watched this movie when I was 14, I'm now 32, and let me tell you that I experienced a similar situation like you when I saw this movie. I cried for days remembering the whipping scene and crucifixion. Now, during the whipping scene, I mute the TV and walk away until that scene is over.
Yeah it could have become very cheesy and cringeworthy "edgy" but it was really well done. Regarding a modern Film version of this story it really has succeeded on every level. It really pulls you into it and i kinda regret not having seen it at the theaters back when it came out. Before i saw it i had absolutely no expectations and afterwards i was really amazed and dazzled.

I remember I was 10 years old when my parents took me to see “The Passion of the Christ” and let me tell you, there were no dry eyes by the end of the film. It’s a tradition that I see this movie every year for Easter, to remind me what Jesus has done for us and I’m forever grateful. Amen!

This movie is extremely tough for me to watch. Not only because we see the suffering and pain Jesus had gone through for us but also because it reminds me of how much of a sinner I am and how I don't deserve him. Although I know he disagrees with me on "deserving him" I still can't get that through my head. Not cause of lack of Faith. But just because I fail to my temptations most times.
Jesus was closest to those that society deemed unworthy. The lepers, prostitutes and thieves. He understands our shortcomings and weaknesses and loves us anyway.

I remember watching a scene where Jesus gets a vision of what’s to come. And so he goes out into the night and speaks with his father. He asks if this is the only way, he was scared and I always believed that was his human side. But as he looked up to the sky and received only silence he knew then what shall be done. Yrs ago before I even seen this movie, I had a dream for 3 nights, I was brought back to the time of when Jesus was on trial, his beatings, his crucifixion and ascension into Heaven. I was there, I saw the people screaming and crying to release Jesus, I saw him getting beat and hung. I would scream and cry, which woke up my family, and the Holy Spirit would come and comfort me, I would fall back to sleep and go back into the same dream. I could see and hear everything that was happening, and the people were speaking in their own language, and I understood them, and once again I would wake up screaming and calling to release Jesus, and once again the H S had to comfort me. Then came his crucifixion, and then death. Then he ascended into Heaven. Whether or not anyone wants to believe my story is up to you, but I tell you the real thing that happened to Christ doesn't compare to the passion, Jesus was unrecognizable. And becuz I'm in horrible pain 24/7. I told Jesus that I can't go on anymore, he told me that if he can endure all the pain that he went thru I too can endure the pain also. and that one day I will no longer be in pain. Joke as you might be with my story, but the H S does show things to people to pass on. Glory to our Father who will receive us into himself soon. 💜🕊🙏

The funny part about the movie was that everytime he got hit, I reached for the screen. I wanted to save him. Another woman in the audience sitting beside me was crying hysterically. We eventually ended up holding hands and crying.

In 2004 I was 22 years old and I remembered going to the theater to see this movie with my girlfriend. I bought popcorn, nachos, candy and large drinks maan I stop eating and I was holding my tears cause of the movie being extremely sad I started looking around and like everyone were crying and whipping their tears. One of the absolute hardest movies to watch EVER. We did a very intense sermon several years ago and it was to the tone of the passion. The youth pastor paused the film right after the portrayal of Christ’s last breath our youth pastor paused it. It was so violent and brutal that I think most of the tears we shed and the absolute kick to the gut we felt was because of just how graphic it was, it did not hold back at all and that’s EXACTLY what the producers and writers wanted from it they wanted to as graphically as possible depict the death of Christ without sugar coating it
I have always believed in Christ. I realized that I am responsible for the pain (both mental and physical) and death of Jesus because of my sins. This movie gave me a greater appreciation for what Jesus did for me and every man / women and child.
Technically, since 90% or more of all men, women, and children will go to hell to be tortured forever in ways that make Jesus' suffering seem like he was being tickled, I wouldn't say he did much for most people.

Wow!!! The lord was trying to tell him something when that first lightning struck him! They didn’t understand it… have any of you ever heard a voice taking the place of thunder in plain day without clouds nor rain? I have and I was in jail, on rickers island to be exact! It happened right after I got to the pictures of a book called “ the little boy that came back from heaven!” I fell to my knees and broke down crying and looking up at the sky through the wired window… that’s when the thunder sounded and the voice came right over it! The next day my wife asked me over the phone if I heard something other than “ the low thunder?” That month I became a preacher out of nowhere and there was captains, corrections officers, bloods, crips, Latin kings, Muslims, catholics, christians, with me praying in the gym, and at night in a circle holding hands every night in the dorms! I heard the voice of the one we call father and felt the power manifest in me! That changed my entire life! That was in 2011-13. I love this movie. Yes its gruesome and hard to watch but it's a true story. The true story of the life that changed history. What I love about it is that even if it seems 'exaggerated', it's actually not, at all. I pray that when people understand that what they see on the screen is what Jesus went through for us to give us this life, that they will have a different, life changing perspective 💖
This movie was so packed! I had to purchase my tickets at 9am for a 7 pm movie. The emotions going through that theater was so intense! The women and people that cried was unbelievable! Never again would I see that in a theater again

I remember watching this film, with tears in my eyes.... And I also noticed my mom behind me at the door stuck watching the movie and sobbing silently... It was a great experience and emotional to watch Jesus Christ the creator of mankind went through this torture for all of our sins so that we could live forever and ever with Him in new Jerusalem...
I have a personal tradition of watching this around Easter. I watched it again almost two nights ago. Watching this film has helped me find strength to forgive and to treat others with love, and to see their worth. I felt so much sympathy for Jesus watching Him go through all the diabolical treatments. What a leader we have to emulate and follow! Each time I watch this film it brings me closer to the Savior. I am so grateful for His Atonement and sacrifice. Because of Him we no longer are subject to both physical and spiritual death. The powers of Hell are limited and Satan has no power. Many people don't realize this, but the Garden of Gethsemane was where he suffered the pains of all men. All physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional pains, sicknesses, and sorrows, heaped upon Him of all those who lived on this Earth from Adam down to the end of the world. There was no other way to meet the demands of Justice but through the blood and death of His Son. God the literal and living Father of all would not have asked this of Him if it wasn't the only way. Praise to God and His Son for such remarkable love. I cry with Him when I see this film. I am looking forward to the second movie coming out next year and know it will be beautiful.
Mel might be making the sequel, and I know it will be another block buster, but the real sequel of Christ is going to be the ultimate event in all of history!

An excellent movie in my opinion, depicting the final hours of Christ's life quite accurately. Mel Gibson seems to be a great director and hats off to him for making such a film. As far as all these strange things taking place on set, I personally don't know what to make of it. But I can tell you this, Jesus the Christ was a very real historical figure and the gospels of Jesus Christ are faithful writings. People should read them and the rest of the New Testament scriptures in order to get a clearer understanding of who Jesus was.

This movie was PROFOUND! Every year, I try and watch The Passion of the Christ, because it gives me such an appreciation for Christ's sacrifice on the Cross! This was such a powerful movie. It will touch the hardest hearts. The casting of Mary was good casting. I really felt her sorrow. I cry every time I see Jesus being crucified.

Through voluntary sinning the image in which humankind was created was distorted, marred and made ugly - Christ died to restore ' Adam ' & 'Eve ' ( metaphors for the fallen human race ) to full relationship with God. If we reject Jesus Christ's saving passion, then the Image of God within us remains distorted, and our eternal destiny is not a 'burning hell', but a total separation from God, in whose image we were originally created.
Who’s watching the movie on Good Friday this year? Such a deeply sorrowful reminder of what Christ went through for us. And I am forever grateful that He revealed himself to me. Having changed my life in ways that I could never have imagined. And all for the best, so that I can stand a chance at saving my soul. The man who plays Jesus is amazing. He loves Jesus and God so much. Im proud they didn’t just get someone who probably looked like Jesus but loves and sends a good message as well.
The guy who played as Barabbas also became a believers after He had a spiritual moment with Jesus. He felt the love of God when Jesus took his place that he deserved.

I watched this with my grandfather many years ago and during the scenes of Jesus getting tortured, I looked over at him and he was in tears. A man I never imagined I would ever see cry in my life. He fought in two wars and was as tough as nails. He never showed any emotion. I pray God let him into his kingdom, forgiven him for his sins, he lived a very tough life.

My family and I are Christian, and I specifically remember running to my room in tears during the whipping scene. I was maybe 11. I'd read the story of Jesus in the bible, but to see such a brutal reenactment in this film knowing it was so much worse in real life, I was so overwhelmed. I remember hyperventilating and began to pray. My mom came and checked on me and calmed me down. I haven't seen the movie since, but been having the urge to rewatch it now that I'm 29 and have transformed and grown so much in my walk with Christ.

Say what you want but Passion of Christ is one of the most ambitious filmproductions ever. And it was well worth it. An amazing film.

Yeah it could have become very cheesy and cringeworthy "edgy" but it was really well done. Regarding a modern Film version of this story it really has succeeded on every level. It really pulls you into it and i kinda regret not having seen it at the theaters back when it came out. Before i saw it i had absolutely no expectations and afterwards i was really amazed and dazzled.

This movie is extremely tough for me to watch. Not only because we see the suffering and pain Jesus had gone through for us but also because it reminds me of how much of a sinner I am and how I don't deserve him. Although I know he disagrees with me on "deserving him" I still can't get that through my head. Not cause of lack of Faith. But just because I fail to my temptations most times.
Jesus was closest to those that society deemed unworthy. The lepers, prostitutes and thieves. He understands our shortcomings and weaknesses and loves us anyway.

He asks if this is the only way, he was scared and I always believed that was his human side. But as he looked up to the sky and received only silence he knew then what shall be done. The book of luke records how Jesus was sweating blood because of how anxious he was to endure torture. He prayed in agony before he ever was touched.

I would scream and cry, which woke up my family, and the Holy Spirit would come and comfort me, I would fall back to sleep and go back into the same dream. I could see and hear everything that was happening, and the people were speaking in their own language, and I understood them, and once again I would wake up screaming and calling to release Jesus, and once again the H S had to comfort me. Then came his crucifixion, and then death. Then he ascended into Heaven. Whether or not anyone wants to believe my story is up to you, but I tell you the real thing that happened to Christ doesn't compare to the passion, Jesus was unrecognizable. And becuz I'm in horrible pain 24/7. I told Jesus that I can't go on anymore, he told me that if he can endure all the pain that he went thru I too can endure the pain also. and that one day I will no longer be in pain. Joke as you might be with my story, but the H S does show things to people to pass on. Glory to our Father who will receive us into himself soon. 💜🕊🙏

The funny part about the movie was that everytime he got hit, I reached for the screen. I wanted to save him. Another woman in the audience sitting beside me was crying hysterically. We eventually ended up holding hands and crying.

I bought popcorn, nachos, candy and large drinks maan I stop eating and I was holding my tears cause of the movie being extremely sad I started looking around and like everyone were crying and whipping their tears. One of the absolute hardest movies to watch EVER. We did a very intense sermon several years ago and it was to the tone of the passion. The youth pastor paused the film right after the portrayal of Christ’s last breath our youth pastor paused it. It was so violent and brutal that I think most of the tears we shed and the absolute kick to the gut we felt was because of just how graphic it was, it did not hold back at all and that’s EXACTLY what the producers and writers wanted from it they wanted to as graphically as possible depict the death of Christ without sugar coating it
I have always believed in Christ. I realized that I am responsible for the pain (both mental and physical) and death of Jesus because of my sins. This movie gave me a greater appreciation for what Jesus did for me and every man / women and child.
Technically, since 90% or more of all men, women, and children will go to hell to be tortured forever in ways that make Jesus' suffering seem like he was being tickled, I wouldn't say he did much for most people.

Wow!!! The lord was trying to tell him something when that first lightning struck him! They didn’t understand it… have any of you ever heard a voice taking the place of thunder in plain day without clouds nor rain? I have and I was in jail, on rickers island to be exact! It happened right after I got to the pictures of a book called “ the little boy that came back from heaven!” I fell to my knees and broke down crying and looking up at the sky through the wired window… that’s when the thunder sounded and the voice came right over it!
The next day my wife asked me over the phone if I heard something other than “ the low thunder?” That month I became a preacher out of nowhere and there was captains, corrections officers, bloods, crips, Latin kings, Muslims, catholics, christians, with me praying in the gym, and at night in a circle holding hands every night in the dorms! I heard the voice of the one we call father and felt the power manifest in me! That changed my entire life! That was in 2011-13.
I wonder if something happened or is different in his life after that lightning struck him? Them as well?!

What I love about it is that even if it seems 'exaggerated', it's actually not, at all. I have a personal tradition of watching this around Easter. I watched it again almost two nights ago. Watching this film has helped me find strength to forgive and to treat others with love, and to see their worth. I felt so much sympathy for Jesus watching Him go through all the diabolical treatments. What a leader we have to emulate and follow! Each time I watch this film it brings me closer to the Savior. I am so grateful for His Atonement and sacrifice. Because of Him we no longer are subject to both physical and spiritual death. The powers of Hell are limited and Satan has no power. Many people don't realize this, but the Garden of Gethsemane was where he suffered the pains of all men. All physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional pains, sicknesses, and sorrows, heaped upon Him of all those who lived on this Earth from Adam down to the end of the world. There was no other way to meet the demands of Justice but through the blood and death of His Son. God the literal and living Father of all would not have asked this of Him if it wasn't the only way. Praise to God and His Son for such remarkable love. I cry with Him when I see this film. I am looking forward to the second movie coming out next year and know it will be beautiful.

An excellent movie in my opinion, depicting the final hours of Christ's life quite accurately. Mel Gibson seems to be a great director and hats off to him for making such a film. As far as all these strange things taking place on set, I personally don't know what to make of it. But I can tell you this, Jesus the Christ was a very real historical figure and the gospels of Jesus Christ are faithful writings. People should read them and the rest of the New Testament scriptures in order to get a clearer understanding of who Jesus was.

The man who plays Jesus is amazing. He loves Jesus and God so much. Im proud they didn’t just get someone who probably looked like Jesus but loves and sends a good message as well.
The guy who played as Barabbas also became a believers after He had a spiritual moment with Jesus. He felt the love of God when Jesus took his place that he deserved.
