Very well done. One of my wheel bearings gave out after only 102,000 miles. I was a little surprised, given Toyota's reputation for quality. At my age, (80) I just don't want to fool with the problem so I took the car to a local repair shop which is replacing both bearings for $1500.00. OUCH! ( In fairness, This is a lot more complex a procedure than when I used to do my own wrenching on my cars.)
Thank you for this. I am going to tackle this job soon on my dads Avalon. I couldn’t help but laugh when you cut the vid short while removing the race from the old hub…then in the next scene, you’re installing a brand new hub 😂. I am going to try to reuse my dads old hubs….wish me luck.
A lot of effort involved, surprised Toyota didn't come up with an easier way. Did the front ones on a Ford a few years ago, very simple case of undoing one bolt in the centre pulling out the old hub then replacing it with a new hub. Good video.
To avoid this i bought a knuckle wheel hub assembly the whole component. My cotterpin on my lower ball bearing was jammed and cost me an extra $45, after the special 30mm socket and torque wrench I got for the 218ftlbs was $50 on Amazon, $5 for cotterpins total was $230 about 2 hours of labor and I was on the road again doing 128mph in my 2016 toyota avalon floating. You will need a second person to pry up on hub while pushing in to get back on. I used a bunch of socket extensions as a second breaker bar and told my buddy to pull up so I could get both large screws in the shock absorber while the assembly was back on and the lower ball joint connected. It is an easy job I strongly recommend doing it this way with trq parts.

Anyone else say F it and just drop the money for the Wheel Bearing/Hub/Knuckle assembly? 😂 a far easier install.
Watching him drop his tools every so often makes me feel a bit better about learning cuz i can't seem to keep ahold on mine most of the time either

So why not just remove the caliper and bracket as one whole piece?
Damn, guess I’m gonna have to buy a few more tools to tackle this one!
Thanks 🙏
Excellent video, but about 1/4 way through I realized I need to break out my wallet and take it to the shop.
I like that the big green impact is called Fartnocker.
Outstanding video! Thank you for sharing.
Guess I have to pay the $1060 to the mechanic. 😂
Does the hub have to be replaced, can’t you reuse the old one?
+Ryan Angus It is not necessary to replace the hub if it is in good condition.
Thanks for the video
Thank you so much nice job
You don't have to go through all that just to remove the hub
It's too zoomed in. I can't see where on the car these things are. I'm trying to learn 😭
😀
nice thx
Hey, so after I did this job, my wheel wont turn fully left or right? Any advice?
