Wouldn't wanna throw shade on any of the other guys. I appreciate all of them. They all have valuable experience and perspectives. But Cape Crawlers presentation style works very well for me personally. Much appreciate the time taken to share thoughts with such a niche audience. This is not the pathway to one million subs, but they do it anyways.
Yes. I like builds of other people more, but only cuz they dont go for Such crazy flex and Performance. Others have more realism and scale Details and i really like that.
Excellent review. High quality content while also posting the time stamps for each segment of your video. That’s great attention to detail. Question, what foam/inserts are you using on your gladiator, if any? Looked super squishy.
I just love this rig it's awesome love the wheel and tire combo the sliders portals everything just a great looking build gonna build one as soon as I can keep up the good work with ur content I love watching ur stuff it's super chill and educational
Anxiously awaiting the RCarmumb portal axles I ordered for my deadbolt. Wondering if you had any experience with them. Appreciate your videos, learning very much. Thank you
Great video, Great review, I have been running the same axle for about the same length of time , and are great. I made up a LCG pacifically around the portal and work great
was looking into getting for 2 of my rigs . the price is what caught my attention. an the beauty of them.thanks for your input on them .gonna order them thanks again 👍
I’m coming from 1/10 and I have a modded FCX24 Doug with RCAWD portals and I love them. I just picked up a stock AX24. What is your thoughts on portals on the AX24? I know it’s tall, tippy etc without mods. Once those issues are resolved, what do you think of these portals on the AX24? Let me know. Oh, yeah….Awesome, educational video!!! Thank you!
Thanks for watching! I think if you countered the higher chassis height from the portals by taking the springs out of the shock and/or running a forced droop setup it would work. I personally haven’t felt the need for portals on the AX because the wheelbase is relatively short and the tires are tall, so I don’t feel like it gets hung up that bad
Hey sir cape crawlers im a long time watcher and love your work. Can not thank you enough for the vids and advice you provide may i ask what tyre and rim package your running on your gladiator your a legend and please keep doing your thing.
@@CapeCrawlers Anytime Adam your the best. I have been building a cliffhanger similar to your comp build but with abit of my own flavour on top of your fillings or so to speak
Nice video yet again Adam! Those axles seem pretty awesome, but I'm not sure they make them to fit the Bronco yet. It's okay since I can't afford them right now anyway. Definitely interested in trying some out though! Thanks for another great video, take care!!!
Thanks! I would be hesitant to put them on the bronco because they raise the COG so much. I wont be putting portals on our bronco for that very reason.
I bought 2 front axles so I could have 4 wheel steering and I love the rcawd axles. I was curious to hear your thoughts about reversed rotation though? Did you just reverse the motor wires, change controls to be able to just reverse the channel?
Great question and I should have addressed that in the video. The V2 electronics allow you to reverse the channel right on the transmitter, so I didn’t have to do anything with the wires. That’s a plus for those with the V2 system.
@@armandoberoi In case you haven't got an answer yet: The extra gear inside the portal causes the wheels to rotate in reverse of the regular direction. IE. Pull the trigger for forward, now the wheels spin in reverse and visa versa. Some have a switch on their remote to change polarity on the power going to the motor, making it turn in reverse of "normal", therefore making the portals turn forward for forward/pulling the trigger on the remote. Without that, one has to reverse the wires feeding the motor to change it's direction of rotation. Clear as mud? :)
Adam, new subscriber and I’m watching all your content. I was curious if you have put the FMS FCX 24 portals onto a SCX yet for comparison. I’m not knowledgeable on the portals to regular axels however it seems that the SCX with portals is the bees knees.
Thanks for the support! I have not put the FMS portals on a SCX yet, but I will at some point! They are so inexpensive and now that metal gears and brass add-ons are available, I am more enthusiastic about the conversion!
Hey Adam are u using high clearance links with the portals or just the normal 4 link. Also what drive shaft set are using or going to use when u get the brushless. I normal don’t use portals on all my 1/10 crawlers but they look good on the gladiator. Mainly for the c hub hang up u talked about.
Hey Kevin! I am running high clearance links and Injora steel driveshafts. I converted it over to brushless earlier this year and they’ve held up well. I also went with steel transmission gears to shore up the entire drive train.
@@CapeCrawlers ahh okay sweet thankyou! do you mind telling me the specs on the wheels as well lol i love your build and hope you dont mind me copying it lol
That’s a good question. I didn’t overdrive them, but from what I understand they use the same internals as a stock axle, so you should be able to overdrive them like the stock axles.
Thanks bro. I'm going to start my upgrades on my gladiator today. I had to wait until I got Esc/Rx for it. Only one I could get was a V1 witch is ok. But I don't have a transmitter. So I had to bind a panda hobby transmitter. It runs but don't really like the set up.
Maybe. My issue is space. I have a small yard and not many places to crawl close by. I like the 1/24’s because I can setup challenging courses in very little space and transport them easy. I do love that 1/10 gladiator though…
Thats a good question. Base on their design, I think yes, because the portal lowers the axle stub quite a bit, which would make room between the fenders and the tires.
Thanks for watching and I’m so glad you enjoy the videos! The wheels and tires would fit with some significant body trimming. I found with the c10 to really unlock its articulation potential, you need to trim the body. Even more so if you put these big tires on. They are Little Guy Racing Parts trail king tires; the biggest you can get for the 1:24’s 👍🏻

If you had your wheels assembled the normal way. The C-Hubs would not be such an issue. But tire width is better to have.

I’ve only broken one thankfully. You may need to upgrade to the LGRP portals!
How did you mount the links to the diff cover? I just ordered these and I’m stuck at this point!
In the back? You need a stock upper linkage mount from the straight axle housings
great review man! i was wondering, are those brass wheel hubs you have? if so where did you get them from

How do you make it so the throttle isn’t reversed with stock electronics?
On the V2 electronics there is a switch to reverse the throttle direction. V1 is a little more challenging.
So do we overdrive portal like we would like on stock?
