She was introduced to many of us on Season 7 of Rupaul's Drag Race where she showed that fashion can get you the crown and has since gone on to music, Vogue, and now about to headline a burlesque tour. Oooooh la la la la la la la. Her name is Violet and she is about to be exposed.

I think the biggest misconception about Violet is that she's not charismatic, I don't know how people can say that all the time. She always makes me smile and laugh in every interview or collaboration she does, she's besides a fashion queen a very interesting person, smart and funny.
Yes the show didn't really focus on her and how interesting she is until the very end so it didn't showcase much of her personality although she was iconic in her fashion area,and all those acting challenges, that's why many liked her in the untucked because it showed more of her, and that's why her fashion ruviews are so popular, she's very charismatic and knowledgeable and hilarious and these youtube videos truly showed more of how terrific she is
That season didn't do anyone justice. They had a bunch of queens who sew and a bunch of queens who dance, and proceeded to throw them into one horrible acting challenge after another. Who knew from Season 7 alone that Katya was a fashion enthusiast, or Trixie was a looks queen, or Kennedy was a fierce dancer...
Fr they tried to paint her as a giant bitch who only cares about herself and it's so FAR from the truth. The fact is violet was confident, and smart. Of course if someone says "do you think your going to win?" She goes "yes." And of course she's gonna say that ! Like she said why even be on the show if the answer to that question is anything other than a flat out yes. She was the first queen to not doubt herself and even if she did she didn't show that to the camera at all and the producers/editors hated that. They wanted her to doubt herself like most girls and to her that just wasn't her style. Like some queens said on the show, I really admire how if someone gave her a compliment her immediate instinct wasnt to play shy and brush it off like most people do (I know I do) she takes it and goes "well duh of course I am, thank you" and that's something I've tried to learn in my life. Violet is truly my role model in term of pure confidence and sex appeal 😂❤️

Isn’t that old news? I mean it most definitely was when the season aired but she has shown and proofed from time to time how much of a powerhouse and mega talent she is
I need Violet to do a masterclass on confidence bc I definitely need some. She’s not delusional and she allows herself to be vulnerable and self-aware but at the same time she knows who she is, believes in herself more than anyone, and really stands her ground on the things that truly matter to her. My personal fave Ru Girl. NO ONE else even comes close when it comes to looks and general coolness and GLAMOUR. She's also hysterical and an amazing performer. Makes the best music too. Her new track is fantastic.

Having someone who knows absolutely nothing about you as an assistant is honestly such a good move. You want someone who’s going to tell you what they honestly think and isn’t a fan.
the assumption you are making is that being a fan prevents you from saying what you honestly think and that being a non-fan assures your frankness. neither of which are true. on the contrary, when you work for someone, a company, a brand etc, its kind of generally better to know everything you can about said someone, company or brand.
@J Dls well violet said in the interview that she likes that her assistant isn’t a fan. You’re welcome to your opinion but generally I don’t think it’s a good idea to be surrounded by yes men. Generally fans are not going to give their honest opinion and even if they do it’s usually clouded because they like the person.
@J Dls there’s a difference between having product knowledge/knowledge of the person you’re working with and being a fan. Trixie has said as well her assistant is a fan of Jinx Monsoon which helps with keeping her grounded.
@@colemoniz but thats my point fan doesnt necessarily mean yes-man. i can only speak for myself, but i'm even extra critical of the artists i'm a fan of because i know theyre work so well and what they are capable of.

That's a big part of why Joseph is such a good interviewer. He doesn't pull answers from queens - he just gets them to talk. His questions aren't the point of the interview, and he's smart enough to see it.

I often feel with Violet, the thought of her being "too ahead of her time" comes up. Her fashion sense, her personality, her MUSIC? Love and passion is always mixed in everything she does. I just hope she's able to enjoy the praise she most rightfully deserves soon.

Violet is the reason I got into drag race, I started watching season 7 just because of her and it remains my favorite and she is my ultimate favorite, she truly amazing, groundbreaking and unique, I hate that she didn't enjoy her reigning year or people didn't truly appreciate her, in the show she showed great commitment even when the challenges didn't play on her strengths, she made her area unforgettable people know how iconic her fashion is, she had an amazing character development throughout the show and her untucked moment with Kennedy was unforgettable, and to think that the show didn't even showcase all her skills and talents, like she's mad talented in something so unique and impressive like aerials and burlesque no other queens do, she continues to evolve and push boundaries and better herself like her peak is a linear plateau it doesn't end or decline, Violet is one of the most iconic queens ever and she deserves all the best
Agreed. I saw some of season 6, but season 7 was my first real season watching and I've loved her ever since. I know she had her bitchy moments, but her confidence throughout the season was inspiring. She was young, but she came off like she knew exactly who she was and how great she was and I loved that. Every time I have seen her since her season, whether on The Pit Stop, or an interview like this, or footage from one of her shows, or even random live videos, she comes off so authentic and talented. Also, her giveaway look when Bob took the crown may be my favorite look of all time.
I hope she keeps working for many more years before retirement, and when she does retire, I hope she stays active in the drag community.
I 100% agree, its shocking to hear that she wasn't well received by fans, I started watching after her season because my friends watched it live and told me that she was the best thing they had ever seen

Violet is UNAPOLOGETIC and that’s why I love her. She does what she wants regardless of what people think. The beauty, the fashion, the artistry is just a bonus, but this level of confidence is truly something I adore about her. Truly winner behavior

YES! She often says this at other interviews and even in her own TH-cam videos. I think we can clearly tell that Violet has high respect and admiration for the queens in the earlier seasons.
I don’t feel like Mistress Violet gets nearly enough credit for how naturally funny she is, she’s polished & has an impeccable fashion sense, but she’s hilarious as well! My fave Queen! 👠

My first season of drag race was season 7. I fell in love with Violet and I went nuts when she won! People shit on season 7 but it was the season that made me fall in love with drag race and drag in general. Violet is one of my fav winners and probably the most iconic winner to ever grace the show.

She's so mature and modest, as in when being asked about her influence, she mentioned the queens that came before her. Yet she was the first one to use the term "look queen" and then all the Instagram queens happened... and they all want to be her. Even the audience is looking for the next Violet in every look queen.
Violet was someone I had zero interest in during her season, as she came off as abrasive and entitled, but my fascination with and admiration of her has grown and grown, and I really like her now. If there is ever an All Winners season I will be rooting for her for the win, and I never thought I'd ever say that before!
The untucked vs the season is so weird she’s so likeable in the untucked and ginger and Kennedy who I respect felt so unlikable in untucked but great in the season

Violet is without a doubt the most underrated Drag Race winner. She is so talented in so many ways, it's amazing.
I really hope she doesn't retire from drag soon. She's definitely one of my favorites and I would be sad to not be able to see her perform. I would still support anything else she wants to do, I would love to see her become the director of a fashion house. She's just spectacular
it was so interesting hearing about her struggles on the year of her crowning, how she felt in the shadow of bianca and i imagine having bob in the subsequent year, another extremely loud and charismatic winner, really challenged her professionally and pushed her to go as hard as she could into her own style and creativity; really lean into her strengths while juggling all of the complex responsibilities of being a winner (including getting people to like you). she is definitely one of the winners who i think the fan base have warmed to the most over time, and her entire trajectory from being an alternate to being a disliked winner, to now being a staple in the alumni and having really flourished in the real world shows that the show still has potential to push these queens both personally and professionally.

I think the biggest misconception is that Violet is just a pretty look queen rather than a drag artist with a distinct perspective. Art in general is much more than just things being pretty, but most people don't seem that keen to see past the pretty (or popular).
I'm obsessed with Violet's signature black hair and beautiful mug. Her makeup looks even more amazing here than normal. Love her lashes. This was so interesting. I think Violet is the same age as me and it is crazy how well-spoken she is for how young she is.

I was lucky to see Violet in Paris, France, at the beginning of her Tour, and she's absolutely stunning (not to mention funny, we were served hard for having the softest applause meter of all publics). Her latest video is so her, I hope to see a lot more of her in the future !

I remember when she won. There was literally no doubt in my mind or any of my friend’s minds that she won that season hands-down. I loved this interview. It showed a different side then I’ve seen before…Plus she looks STUNNING. Love her.
I listen to everything Violet's on and she's manages to stay elusive even after all these interviews. She has such an enigmatic presence even when talking normally.
Beauty is common. But to be both beautiful and to have a cool and collected wisdom behind it all, now THAT is why this legend is THE legend. She never gets credit for the mature wisdom she has for someone so young. Its so admirable.
