Hi James, you are spot on, that is the Harry I remember. He was " very forthright " in his views. I remember playing in a mixed with him. He hit a terrific drive up 16 and his lady partner was worried about the huge bunker. He told her to miss it. She asked, left or right? He said, no just miss the ball and I will smack it on! She approached the ball, he stood in front of the ball and told her, just f*****g miss it! Yep, you guessed, she did as she was told and Harry laced a 3 wood onto the green! Rember going to the house and having dinner, Harry and my Dad putting the golf club to rights. His daughter, Terri was a year younger than me. Did not play golf. He said I was the son he never had. I loved playing with him. We had some titanic battles in the Beckford Bowl together. He showed no fear ever, even when we were paired against lower handicaps. We won nearly every time. Sad about his eyesight. I am sure, me David Jeffreys, John Paddy, Andrew Farwell, Jane Miles, in particular will always have a little bit or hero worship for him. He was always very vocal about encouraging juniors and the next generation. I remember beating him to win the scratch knockout one year, and said" beat you at last Harry" , he smiled and replied" not really, I came second and coached the winner!". Is it any wonder we all looked up to Harry, even though he was only 5'5"! He was my hero at golf growing up. I use his sayings and lessons to everyone to this day. Wish I could have known him all my life.
Oh what a beautiful morning 🎶

Thanks Mark. Just been chatting to another B'stone member at Parley range. Hoping to get a round there to see what its like... have to say it does look lovely!
This was filmed in early Autumn 2017 not January 2018. Where in the world is the Buzman now? Has he fallen out with Crossfield to be in the UK on not in his course vlog?
I’m in the USA, saw the guru last week and was fun to spend time with him 👬
Looks like a great course. Could James 'focus' a little more on his zooming. It's great to see the ball land. 😀
Buzzman have yet met any willing golf mates in Florida
TIGER line isn't named after Tiger Woods is it?
Tiger line is the right rough 😝
Harry McCann had the course record here for years RIP
James Wiltshire knew him really well. He partnered my dad in early to late mid seventies every week. He helped me when I started and was lucky to play with him most weeks for about 4 years
Chris Mayor that's so good to hear, I heard he was quite a player in his day? definitely a character to go with it! He was my Nans playing partner when I started playing at Exeter at 12 years old and we played adult/junior events all the way up through, he is missed!
Ahi James, he was a heck of a player. We joined Northborne GC, now Knighton Heath in 1973. Harry was from Bury and we lived in Bury from 1964 to 1970, so my Dad and Harry knew each other before. Harry and my Dad played vs Alan Dutton, who was also at Broadstone and Mike Brazier. Harry was off 3 in those days ( he would be about 43) and my Dad was the same. Harry started helping me and I got down to 2 handicap when playing with him. He was very very straight, hit irons like radar. Not the greatest putter, but so straight, he rarely missed greens. He was an awesome match player. He had a habit of one eye going like a slit and the other wide open, as he stared down the target. Me and my mates said the ball was scared not to go where he aimed it! He was incredibly generous with his time helping us as juniors and we had a great section. He was terrific fun whilst always competing very very hard. I still tell stories about him now as he was a massive influence on me. I played like him, except he was a much better wedge player than me, but I was a much better putter. When my Dad joined Parkstone, Harry and I played a lot together, until I moved away. He favourite lesson, with his Lancastrian accent....feet skwer, hips skwer, shoulder s skwer, hands skwer, back skwer, through skwer, ball straight! Shout at the ball early Chris, then it will know where you want it to go. Absolute legend!
Chris Mayor ahhh yeah Knighton Heath I remember him always talking about that place! It sounds like he didn't change much as he got older, he was in his late 60's/early 70's when I knew him and played to around a 7 handicap, hardly even missing fairways or greens. He was always outspoken and straight to the point, no matter who he was talking to, which was always good fun to be around. It was a shame as he got older he developed glaucoma and started to struggle on the course until he passed a few years ago. R.I.P Harry McCann, big influence on me as well!
How many times does the word "flight" get mentioned? I'll have to watch and see but I'm gonna guess a lot 😂
WTF!! Red flag front, Yellow flag ,middle, White flag back?? Obviously!! I'm very surprised you 2 didn't figure that one out!!!
Beach Fraser buzzman has only written s thesis. That type of logic is beneath him.
lol.but he asked the question mate!! clever people don't think of the obvious, they think on a different level,
