  • Trey Canard is one of the nicest people I have ever met and of all of his amazing accomplishments during his career as a professional dirt bike racer, that might be the one thing that sticks out. Trey was one of the top dogs of the sport during my time in the US and I was track side for a lot of his career highs and lows. To finally get a chance to chat was a real treat.

Trey was so fast. Just a lot of bad luck happened to him. It's really good to hear from him and hear his insight, very cool.

His speed was very underrated, healthy trey (which was rare) could run a poto/James type speed

I like trey, but he would go down too much at that speed. He said he retired bc he couldn't be consistent at the speed he needed to go, to win.

Yeah, he was fast as hell when he was healthy and feeling it. It's just sad the injuries started to mount up. There's quite a few guys that are in that same boat, one minute they are doing amazing and the next they are out again with another injury and just can't shake them.

Always felt bad for Trey fans... He had the talent, but he just couldn't stay consistently on 2 wheels! His 450 W total is always so shocking to me! He should have a dozen SX and MX wins 🤷‍♂️

I was a HUGE Trey Canard fan for his whole career. His sense of humor always made me like him. I was introduced to him in "The Prospects" Moto DVD from like 2006 and was a fan ever since. When he won at Millville one year in the 250 class the whole podium celebration was off the chain.

I remember talking to my uncles who raced since the late 80s and did some higher level racing with guys like pastrana and different ones at the Loretta Lynn’s around the time this new style started coming around and we were watching roczen and tomac take corners without ever taking their feet off the pegs or even sitting into the turns and we couldn’t understand how these guys corner so easy without having to throw a lot body English into it and now seeing that it’s like the preferred style is so nuts they almost lean the bikes like a super bike but stay upright and just let the bike take itself around rather than whipping it around the turn or sliding it around like the older days

Lest we not pay homage to just how hard it is to keep that chassis from moving, as TC41 mentioned @5:05 about the TROPHY TRUCK and how fast the wheels work up & down, COPY THAT, but the ONLY WAY that happens on a 2 wheeler is through the CORE & LEGS ""TELLING"" the bike that it WILL NOT MOVE & FORCING THE SUSPENSION TO WORK, all the while, the bike looks like it is on a street ride, smooth & flat. Another bonus is when you FORCE the chassis to stay under your control, the opposite reaction is those same wheels BITING BACK into the soil that much harder, hence more control and lots of trips to the WINNERS CIRCLE 4EVR!!!

With all of the technology that's been around for the last 15 or so years, I would think that they would have a better understanding of how a new bike is going to perform.
Surely they have collected enough data to know what will and will not work. There is enough computing power in a top-end pc to completely simulate how the bike will react
to different settings and different terrain.

Even though they have been known for jack knifing for as long as I can remember (tbh not that long started riding in 2014). And Chase has stated numerous times he likes to rely on the front end. Of course you pust someone who uses the front end on a bike that likes to tuck the front hes going to have a lot of mistakes... Then people slam him online and in the media as he takes it in stried. Not saying he doesnt have some mental weakness or poor/sloppy riding mistakes in there as well. I guess we will find out soon when he goes to a new team.
