Basicaly, in order to use a shopping card you need to insert a 1 or 2 euro coin in order to unlock the shopping card from the row and use it. Then after you used the shopping card you can bring it back to the row and reattach it to the chain in order to get the coin back. I personaly like this kind of thing because it makes people bring back the shopping cards and we can just take it from the row instead of having to search one.

Thankfully moved back to UK last year, and remains yet another reason to be glad I left. Nice country, but in many ways surprisingly backwards
