    Rick I was a participant on Kai’s call today. I asked the last question today. I asked those of us with a 3000 status what year C8 can we expect to receive? Kai couldn’t answer my concern. I’m appreciative of the concern for employees health, so keep the plant closed until it’s safe. But Us 3000ders will just have to wait till GM communicates. Thanks Rick

      Jim Coticchia I’m stuck at 3000 too and it’s a convertible but I didn’t hear good news. I have a Detroit Dream Cruise party every year because I live a block off Woodward. My brothers fly in from out of state and they are asking me if they should cancel their appointment plans and I don’t know what to tell them. The Cruise is the 3d week of August.

      Jim Coticchia Tim Allen grew up in the little Detroit suburb where I live. We get 1 million people watching old and new classic cars cruise. Lots of fun and a well behaved crowd. The Big 3 set up large displays and everything is free.

    Rick,
    Thanks for sharing this interview with the Corvette plant manager. We know that COVID-19 has effected the production of this C8. It has given the people with cars on order an idea and understanding the situations on getting the C8 back to production. With other factories shut down (ecspecially the engine plant in New York) that parts for manufacturer will take some time to get the plant what it needs to get back running again.
    I want thank the plant manager for his time!
    Rick you have taken some pressure off so the customers will patiently wait for there new C8!
    Thank you,
    Mark Pointer

    Thanks Rick. Kia is a very upbeat individual. Facing the strike and Covid 19 sure hasn't detoured him from his love of the C8 and getting it too the market place. It seems you and him share a great passion for the car and the process to get it in our hands. Hopefully we'll all remember this time in history as a bump in which we have seen the good and bad and made things better for all.
    Thank you Kia and Rick for sharing this.
    Please be safe and take care. 🇺🇸

    When will it be back up? Tomorrow. 5/21/2020. Thus, convertibles will be built within 30 days. One part number, but from New York. The question in this vlog from the Museum by Kai Spande was only partially answered. The reason I say that is, that it depends upon what you mean by the word, "...sold." Not long after this interview, a number of automobiles were shipped to dealers, providing them with, "allocation." These were cars that were optioned (by I do not know who) and send to dealers without an order from a customer. The West Coast allegedly got them a short time after the East or certain Central and Mid-West sections due to the addition of rail in the process. That is why, on or about April 11, 2020, I pulled up on two or three internet sites, approximately 18 unsold Corvettes in the five counties surrounding Los Angeles & including L. A., herself. I went through each one of the 18 cars at least two times and found that something strongly bothered me about the options/build of 17 of those 18 Corvettes. One of them interested me and by the 13th of April, that one car was mine (and, I really couldn't believe that I had managed to get a 2020 coupe, albeit in some colors and options I personally never would have spec'd. So while the Corvettes may have been sold to dealers, they were not sold to customers and Mr. Spande did not point that out in this conversation. I am actually very glad he did not point it out in full disclosure. It he had, the car I bought would have been gone, almost for sure, by the time I bought it. In fact, the salesman told me that a man from Riverside was on his way to Rydell Cheverolet, as I was transacting the acquisition of my Corvette, interested in seeing and likely buying the car that I bought. AF

  • @zioo3117
    @zioo3117 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    One story I never heard about: Other than ordered cars, did Bowling Green build any cars to ship out to dealerships? If so, how many? If so, why hasn't there been any coverage of that fact? It appears to the casual observer, that there is still detective work to be done to find out the various aspects of the C8. I kept looking for dealerships to get a "store allotment." I had no idea that there would be these types of cars. I managed to order a convertible thanks to the Tadge ride-along and sharing of the Convertible at Jay Leno's Garage. I wasted two or three weeks looking around when I finally managed to order a car from a Chevrolet dealer in the greater L. A. area, somewhere around January 22, 2020. The build finally rached the status of 1100. Apparently, that means G.M. accepted the build as one that they would build if it got to that point. It has to fall within the dealer's allocation. And it has to be within the time frame where the car can be built, prior to shut down for the refresh of the 2021. Today is more like April 16, rather than April 9. This brings me to Rick Conti, who communicated with me, despite my not having bought a car from him. He was very honest and told me that my status did not mean the car would be built in 2020 as a 2020 model. What that would mean, is that my goal to obtain a 2020 Then we observe that Mexico is not building and shipping transmissions until at least April 30. That leaves May and part of June to possibly build cars, including convertibles. There will need to be some period of time to gear up for the 2021's and the convertibles. The manager states that "...we don't know when we will be able to restart the building. Aggressive possibility would be early in May. The start up with the viruses and the different parts will take some period of time. As few as one part could stop production. They will build some cars the first day. Employees training will receive a refresh. Testing with regard to employees, they must know that they are well. Safety of the employee number 1. It may take some time to recontinue owners watching their cars being built, because of the risk ot the employees. So, really, the unknown story is that story of how much allocation went out to dealerships that were cars that were built up based upon a certain formula; those cars are included in the 2,697 cars. A few Corvettes have yet to be delivered, but how many of those are therre to arrive and then go to a customer. This is too long, but it is food for thought. AF

    Sadly , however good or bad you felt like life was pre virus, you will think it sucks for years to come. This will economically rival or surpass the Great Depression. Instead of worrying about our Corvette being produced many many people will become homeless and wondering where their next meal will come from. The government can print a gazillion dollars but if goods and services aren’t being produced it will not matter.

    I think there are going to be a LOT of C-8's on the lots in 4-5 months. Lots of refused deliveries as retirement plans get decimated and people lose jobs. Just stopping by to bring some cheer!

    • @aclosson8193
      @aclosson8193 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The vast majority (not all) of the job losses are in service industries and at the worker level. Not the new Vette clientele. That said, there will be some small and mid-sized business owners that lose their businesses and some of them could likely afford a Vette if they wanted to own one.
      The current typical Vette buyer is successful mid-level to upper management and recent retirees. It is this group whose investment portfolios that have been hammered by this Wuhan Chinese Virus where there may likely be a loss of money to the level they may have to cancel or refuse delivery of an order.
      That said, the market has recovered much of its losses in the last four days.
