    Stumbled across your channel from a comment in an HD forum. I'll be watching more after this. Done a few trips to Waterton when I've worked nearby in Lethbridge, just a beautiful place to be. Had to pause it at 1:44 and take in the view, always warms my heart.

    Gosh, if that was the alternative route, what the highway to the sun route must be like is beyond me. Words are beginning to fail the views on this tour. Note to Mrs. Flyer, we've all done the sun dance trying to get waterproofs on.

    Very fun day today! I just love that area in the U.S. and Canada Waterton/Glacier National Park! The Going to the Sun road is fantastic but there are many delays on it with the unpredictable weather so your route was very cool and amazing also! Scenery was beautiful! You two are so cool! Thank you!😃😎👍

    Very lovely lakes and Mountain side on this trip in Canada. I just cannot get another of this beautiful scenery. The road that cliff drops off, reminds of a road in Lancashire that really bad drop off area and many cars end up at bottom of the cliff it wasn’t a steep drop, but it was bad. However, it looks like an amazing road with plenty nice views. Well, it has to rain somewhere. Mr flyer.

    I was amazed that the US border guard did not loose it on you when you drove passed the STOP sign to join your riding mate. I have seen border guards go ballistic and peeps getting send into secondary for an extended period of time. ONE car or bike at the time and wait until the car/bike is cleared to enter - no matter how long it takes. Crossing between Canada and the US is nothing like the EU and I treat the process either way with the utmost respect and caution - crossing regularly myself from Manitoba into North Dakota and back.

    I’ve really enjoyed this series of videos… trying to capture the sheer scale of the views is not easy but you get very good insight nonetheless! Not a great advert for GoPro though in my opinion… you did well to overcome the ‘tribulations’ and still get great content 👍👍.
    Feeling suitably inspired I checked out the trip for 2023 on the Motorrad website and then saw how much it cost??!!! Stone me!!! Good morning Andy, Waterton National Park looks like a lovely place add to my must do list. Pity about he road to the sun.
    I was really looking forward to seeing it. I missed The Road to the Sun back in May this year. It was a spur of the moment detour on our way to Yellowstone. I got into the park ok and have a pass for the year. Unfortunately the west end of the road was at Macdonald Lake. The Lodge and The rest of the road still closed due to snow.
    Planned to go back this summer with the bike but plans went awry.
    Beautiful, scenery anyway.
    We headed down to Yellowstone which was mostly closed due to snow as well. But was still spectacular. With a lot of wildlife.
    Shortly after we passed by there was major floods. which washed out a lot of roads.
    Well I suppose it gives you a good reason to come back some day.
    Still enjoying this and looking forward to the next episode.

    It still reminds me of Norway.
    Waterton is a Dutch word meaning water barrel.
    The flatness of the plains reminds me a bit of my country.
    That alternative scenic route was very beautiful. Mountains are often more beautiful if looked from a not too high viewpoint. If you’re high(er) up they’re less impressive.

  • @gregmatty6393
    @gregmatty6393 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So disappointed for you NOT getting to see the Going to the Sun Highway. The route around the park is nowhere near as spectacular as the aforementioned road. The West side takes you up some fantastic switchbacks to the park headquarters at Logan Pass. That area is so worth getting to. Then heading East you follow along St. Mary Lake to St. Mary and take a right hand turn on route 89. 89 connects to highway 2 and back to West Glacier.
    I am not trying to rub it in, Heaven/Hell knows I missed plenty on my 2018 trip in Europe, but I know you and the Mrs. would have loved it. Part of me thinks the tour company should have known about this rule change for 2022 as this would easily be a highlight of the trip. Glad you didn't let it get you down. Looking forward to your final installments.

    That drive down to Waterton has to me one of the most mundane rides. Reverse on the Wing is worth it's weight in gold even if a person seldom uses it. Bummer about Road to the Sun - it's several hundred turns, many marked 15 or 20 mph, with huge drop off on one side and cliff on the other... and so much fun! I've ridden it at least 50 times both ways... - it is so tight and steep in some sections that it can scare the crap out of your pillion! I would rate it as one of the 3 best roads to ride in the Pacific Northwest, aka Cascadia. A sport bike is what you want for that ride...

    Most unfortunate you did not do the Going- to-the- Sun hwy as the scenery is to die for with quite a gain in altitude. That being said, it is very much akin to roads in the Alps and in summer you can be creeping along behind huge buses and motorhomes which becomes tedious quite quickly. The run from Head Smashed In to Waterton Lakes is one of my favourite. There are many wonderful motorcycling roads in Southwestern Alberta but maybe I am biased as it is my home turf.

    Sorry about the change of rules to drive to the sun road, you missed one of the most breathtaking routes to ride or drive. We live in Calgary and have made this a day trip regularly because it is a view to not miss. The only crappy part is the traffic on the road and the other drivers of 4 wheelers that are so scared of driving themselves off the cliffs that they have to drive in the middle of the road, not in their lane.

    Montana is known as Big Sky Country. Specialy at night. Did you get to experience it or was it too cloudy?
    I don't like those sketchy roads either. I just let the bike do it's thing an usually works out fine.

    Good morning Mr Flyer , enjoying the series but is the riding a lot of mile munching and not a lot of motorcycle riding in twisty roads etc ?

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it's not a particularly twisty ride - more long sweepers I'd say (which I prefer personally)....

    Two questions Andy, is your Speedo calibrated in mph or kph……and, where would you rate your Schuberth helmet against say a Shoei Neotec 2….?

    This lottery booking deal sucks. Lot of constraints to get into our parks. So dam,n crowded during covid and crazy people trashing the places has caused it. Hope you got to see Riding to the Sun Hwy is certainly a beautiful drive. I have seen grizzlies beside the road and hot meals walking up tp take photos. I have purchased a lifetime pass available due to my age but it has limits when it's crowded. Utah and other places aren't as bad. There's just so many people. Camping is almost out of the question. Ability to communicate contributes to the ability to do this as well. One click, in or out. Drones, almost forbidden in USA. Mini's are about the only ones to have. Take care looking forward to other trips a nd reviews. Like the Goldstar.
