----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------According to the Association for Democratic Reforms, 43 per cent of the members elected in the 17th Lok Sabha declared criminal cases against them. 233 MPs of 539 in 17th Lok Sabha were found to have criminal cases whereas, in the previous Lok Sabha, there were criminal cases registered against 185 MPs. 24 per cent in 2004, 30 per cent in 2009, 33 per cent in 2014 and now in2019, the number of tainted MPs increased to 43 per cent. Similarly, in 2009, there were cases of heinous crimes registered on 14 per cent of MPs, while in 2019, it is 29 per cent.
