    Cavic is now retired..but was a great butterflier and freestyler. Probably the most famous second place Olympic swimmer in history.

    Honestly, I feel like people don't give Cavic enough credit for how fast he swims.

  • @theraceclub
    @theraceclub  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Denis Pankratov reinvented fly with his stroke. He took Mel Stewart's beautiful fly and made it faster tempo. I still use his videos to teach people how fast one can really turn over in fly.

  • @theraceclub
    @theraceclub  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is no secret that Mike works very hard. His high elbow pull, strong legs, low driving breath and most of all hard work contributes to his success.

  • @theraceclub

    You can also use a drill of doing fly with flutter kick to force an early catch, higher stroke rate and avoid the outsweep. Make sure the hands enter the water at the shoulder level and not any closer.

    Very Good!!!

  • @theraceclub
    @theraceclub  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    For butterfly, much of it is in the legs. Cavic and Phelps both have very fast kicks...and they work both the downkick and the upkick. No rest.

  • @ViniBsb1973
    @ViniBsb1973 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks! So bad there are too few videos (with bad quality) of Pankratov at youtube!! His fly was realy amazing!! Every part of his body works in such a perfect rithmic!! And his lateral breathing looks so natural... something many tried to copy but couldn't...

    Cavic was born and trained in the USA. He attended school and university all in the US. He is very American himself and the only reason he chose to swim for Serbia is because his dad was born their and he obviously would be the best swimmer their

  • @theraceclub
    @theraceclub  12 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    MIke is probably the fastest butterflyer on the planet. His underwater pull is superb. His streamline might be better, but what I don't like is that he breathes every other stroke and doesn't relax as much as Phelps on the recovery. It costs him in the end..and the last 10 meters of the 100 fly are the most important ones.

  • @bogolog
    @bogolog 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is no doubt that Phelps is the greatest thing the sport of swimming has ever witnessed, awe-inspiring in his medals and records, but that does not mean that no one else deserves to beat him. A lot of you people claim how Cavic isn't as dedicated or hard-working, but in all honesty, none of you probably know anything about the guy to make those statements. He gave Phelps a run for his money like no one has before, and that's that. Had he won, he would have deserved it

  • @theraceclub
    @theraceclub  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is very good!

  • @theraceclub
    @theraceclub  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pankratov turned over faster than any other flyer I have seen. Cavic uses a more conventional front breathing techique but stays very low in the water. Pulls a little shallower and wider than Phelps. Cavic is the fastest flyer ...but with the every other breath pattern, has trouble in the last 10 to 15 meters.

  • @ViniBsb1973
    @ViniBsb1973 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cavic and Pankratov are my favourite fly styles.

  • @theraceclub
    @theraceclub  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Work your legs! Work your legs! work your legs. You have the opportunity to make four kicks per stroke cycle in fly; two up and two down. Most swimmers don't use all four..but the good ones do.

    +Brian g civic nd phelps had a rivalry, theirs nothing wrong with that, they had 2 close races, one the phelps beat civic by a hundredth because cavic lifted his head up, and the other were they both had good sub 50 races, but phelps came out on top, stop talking trash about civic.

  • @bogolog
    @bogolog 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's not a matter of faking, its purely the timing at the end that cost him that medal. That being said, he still managed a VERY close silver at the Olympic Games (swimming), something that Serbia has not seen in a long time. So be proud of him and his accomplishment, don't go around blaming the world for rigging it.
    As for the anti-serbs, stop your "fact-less" hate and brainwashed way of thinking; you comment against Cavic just so you can get a chance to try and offend some Serbians

    If a car is designed in america and manufactured in america but then is driven in Spain, it is still an American car. IF cavic had trained in serbia and was a product of the serbian swimming program then you could say that. but he didn't.

  • @bogolog

    Sadly, a lot of this is due to the fact that the media has intertwined so much bias into your opinions that it is impossible to untangle at this point. Just keep in mind there are two sides to every story, and just because you know one does not mean you understand the big picture. Unfortunately, the side one hears first generally stays with them for a long time. Which also brings me to the point on "Phelps is God, Cavic does not deserve anything"

      BWAHAHAHAHA you are so butt hurt...for your to think that Phelps cheated is beyond all forms of comprehension...he was NEVER caught doing anything illegal.. as a matter of fact, when Phelps beat him in 08 in Beijing and again in Rome 09 worlds, CABITCH was wearing the illegal ARENA suit and STILL couldn't beat Phelps...twice cabitch tried and twice he failed and Phelps leaves swimming the greatest Olympic athlete of all time :)

    • @josegean7

      The company of timing omega declared and said that cavic I play first and phelps later but stronger so I was active first, I was taught who touches first win, it is merito for the Serbian for many reasons, besides his country went through a war conflict And political and yet he won. Merito cavic he won.

    Ok honestly i don't understand this crap that goes on EVERY time a cavic/phelps 100 fly video is put up. I am myself Serbian living in Canada, and a competitive swimmer as well. Im tired of two things on youtube:
    1. Serbians and their conspiracy theory
    2. Anti-Serbians and their "Cavic doesn't deserve anything" theory
    Let's get some things straight. Omega did NOT fake the time for God's sake! The race was obviously close, and i can tell you as a swimmer ive seen plenty like this one...

    Many Americans are of different nationalities that's why we are called the melting pot of the world. People born here are usually proud to represent the country but not trying to say they don't respect whatever their heritage may be. Missy Franklins' parents are from Canada. She was born here, and wanted to represent USA out of pride.
