Everyone loves Ross' "MY SANDWICH," but I seriously think that the way he says the line "So I took it" when referring to the tranquilizer is really underrated. So freakin funny!
Chandler pays for Joey's rent, food, acting classes, electric bills etc... Joey also eats rachel/monica food. they all support him in his acting endeavors as well. He gets quite a bit in return.
Might be David (Ross) laughing behind as he did produce most of the episode 😂 also Jennifer used to really laugh at all the scenes when she put her hand on her mouth 🤣
It's called "paid leave". You get paid for a certain duration by the company. It's not govt mandated, but most sizeable companies pay you. Most such laws(or lack of) in America are state mandated and not federal(central).
19:55 you really need to watch friends bloopers…none of them can keep straight faces at the best of times. The number of times they laugh etc is hilarious!
Well, I agree that Monica and Chandler shouldn't have behaved like that with Joey, but one thing I have to say is that they are generous too, for example all the time that Joey didn't have a job (because acting is a pretty unstable job), Chandler was the one who paid the rent for both of them, he also paid for his acting classes and stuff, and Monica basically feeds him because he goes and eats at her apartment all the time... and then in the following seasons there will be more examples, I know it's not the same but here everyone helps in their own way
What u said in the end is wrong, I mean Chandler has been helping Joey for many many years financially which many people will hesitate to provide even for their families and had also helped Joey spiritually whenever he was down.. so Joey and Chandler r both great friends to each other through out the whole series ..
America has worker's rights. Taking a leave of absence for your "mental health" isn't one of them because that isn't a right. A right is something like having a set amount of time required for rest between shifts or being paid extra for overtime. Time off for "mental health" is called "vacation."
This episode always gets me mad. So my girl made her lunch in the morning for work and because she loves me,made me a sandwich. I wasn't hungry but looked forward to it. 2 of my friends came over with beer and we hung out. My sandwich disappeared. They denied seeing it. Later my cousin threw up because he drank a lot, my other friend said he ate it. Look he has lettuce on his face. Not only did he eat it,that SOB threw it up! Unforgivable. Every once in a while I think about that sandwich. My girl made the best sandwiches.
What you were saying at the end is the same in the UK. Teacher's aren't allowed to have their own kids in their class because it can compromise objectivity. Same with when I worked in retail, you weren't allowed to serve family members at the checkouts etc to avoid a sense of favouritism.
There's a Federal Law called the Family Medical Leave Act that will make sure your job is protected if you go over your allotted paid leave. That, unfortunately doesn't pay you but it exhausts your leave available so you're paid as long as possible. If you get injured on the job there's something called Worker's Compensation that varies from company to company and by state and by your tenure at the company. To be fair to Chandler, he's covered Joey financially for years when Joey wasn't getting getting acting jobs and Chandler always covered his part of the bills without question so his friend would have a place to live.
See, this is why I hated Monica and Chandler's relationship. Most of it was catered to having the audience laugh and mock Joey due to how much the two of them made a fool of him. Take the sneaking around out of the equation and what's left? It's not like they have anything in common.
It depends on the state, and it depends on the individual company. Some companies are unionized, and they have different benefits. There’s many factors. Keep in mind the United States is very vest with very different laws and jurisdictions. So you can have one thing in California and another thing entirely in Mississippi.
in america we do get paid leave at most companies as long as we submit documentation explaining our absence. it’s a standard practice at all big companies but maybe small businesses won’t have that. the government offers short term disability but i’m unsure if Ross’s “rage” would qualify. but hey who knows
My sandwich crack me up Ross Is my favorite Rachel lies about reading the book Glad phoebe get her revenge Come on don’t throw Joey under the bus glad he got his revenge

Calling yourself ‘The moistmaker’ and your partner turning to you all serious and saying ‘why’ really made my Sunday 🤣
"Me and my mate watched movies during our classes."
That...explains a lot 😂
"They call me the moist maker"
"Why because you use moisturizer?"
"Yes!"
The "MY SANDWICH" whole storyline makes me laugh so hard every time, David Schwimmer is a god-genius of comedy lol

Cousin: "I ate your sandwich, bro. Some of it is in the trash. It was quite large. I had to throw up most of it."
