E-102 Gamma: This pain of a restrained existence must be undone. Am I truly a being that is alive if I deny another their freedom by existing? E-123 Omega: Don't care+Didn't Ask+L+Ratio+ I am going to kill Eggman with my bare hands!
In one of the comics, Gamma is actually the reason Omega gains free will. Of course that's not exactly cannon anymore since that was during the Archie run.
watching you stop, and then explain things like "mobians" and "flickies" while slowly sounding more and more like you're losing your marbles is an absolute delight.
Interestingly, as a kid I identified strongly with Knuckles, while as an adult I'm much more of a Tails. Because of reasons (if you're familiar with the term 'parentification.' yeah.) I was an intense, dutiful, reclusive child. Now that I'm older I'm a lot more free, I'm friendlier, sillier, and more willing to let myself make mistakes- say something silly, make bad art, take a risk I wouldn't have as a kid. It's just interesting how people can identify with opposite characters at opposite points in their lives and both have grown.
@@fishebola He literally said it in the video. He just wants to be able to like to mention his channel to family and not have to explain every time "no i swear it has nothing to do with cocks"
Going from an entire digitial universe being deleted, world-ending devices, and the potential thought of an evil clown demon having the codes, to Sonic Adventure is whiplash on a cosmic level And I love it.
If you were wondering how your videos would be outside of the horror/mystery wheelhouse, while I’m sure the algorithm will disagree this is maybe my favorite video you’ve done. Might just be because Sonic Adventure was such a big part of my childhood but I think it’s because you’re genuinely entertaining and sincere in your analysis. Thank you fer making it.
This was recommended to me without seeing the channel name and I was like "Sure, let's see them cook this topic i have a vague interest in" and then frame one of a whiteboard I shouted "FLAW PEACOCK?!?!?!?" which made my roommate demand to know what I was watching. Didn't know she was a fan as well!
One minor complaint in this AMAZING video of my favourite childhood game... Knuckles directly says "This WHOLE island will fall into the ocean" Implying all of Angel Island does.
e102 is 100% the robot. While yes, I am sure there is some of the animal there; I think the machine itself recognizes it needs to die. I have always been for the 102 gamma is dead theory and I still stand by that. The subtlety I think is missing is that the consciousness of the bird is running the bot; animals running all of the bots, but the machine AI is in charge. dummy plug override. The animals are needed for the machines to function, but they do not have any control at all. Zero is kind of a plot-hole for either theory though.
I really think that Gamma is a little of both theories. I believe that both Gamma and the bird exist inside of him, though the bird is suppressed. Not just its memories, but rather its entire personality and being. Over the course of the game, Gamma gradually becomes less and less the robot he was programmed to be, and more the bird trapped inside. So when Gamma eventually dies, I do see it as a sacrifice. The machine part, a consciousness in its own right, dies to free the bird, its other part, the one that has a family, the one that has a life beyond serving Eggman.
I have been here since the "Who is Lyla" video, and I never would have expected that a Sonic video could be the one that feels closest to my heart. I never had a GameCube, but I remember playing this game or just the initial phases in a shopping arcade center. At the time, I did not understand what was happening because I was too young and did not know English yet, but the gameplay, the character, what it could convey always seemed so fun. I never thought I would one day get to know the story behind it, but I am so glad I got to. My younger self would be proud, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Listen, as much as I would love a Fear and Hunger analysis, those games are not for everyone. Not only are they incredibly hard, but the themes and brutal horror included in the story (especially in the first game) make it quite uncomfortable for many people. Don't go through them if you don't want to, and don't feel like you have to make a video just for us. Regardless, the love you put into all your projects is what really makes them enjoyable. I'd never heard of Who's Lila before this channel, and now I'm halfway through your video on it. Thank you for such a great series of videos, and I can't wait to see what you do next.
It was in the instruction manual for the OG Sonic 1. It was an invention of Sega of America and was present lore for both cartoons. Since the fall of Archie Sonic comic, Sega has washed its hands of any of that world building. On one hand, no more Mobinis. On the other hand, the planet isn't called "Mobius". It doesn't have a name. Period.
@@TheSunsetHero256 The strangest part of this is that they tried to explain sonic adventure and sonic interacting with humans in the modern games by going "eh sonic just goes to the human world sometimes" But that doesn't match the insanity of the archie comics saying "Mobius is a post apocalyptic earth after squid aliens dropped a gene bomb on the planet and the remaining people were mutant humans called overlanders and Furries, except for the humans in Station Square who were just like that because they hid in a mountain"
SADX is easy to mock. Its animations are rough, it's controls are a bit jank, its dialogue is clunky, and its voice acting is amateurish. But I appreciate how genuinely you approached it, because I think you're right: beneath that first impression, there's so much to love. This was Sonic's first real foray into 3D (no, 3D Blast doesn't count), and most of the dev team's first time with it as well. They could have done something straightforward and simple, but they made this HUGE swing with so many player characters and jumping timelines. It's impressive! I think with a little polish and help, it could really shine. And I think that Gamma's portions stand so tall not just because they're affected least by the games limitations -- Gamma's a robot, so robotic animations and voice acting are fine -- but also because it's just such a damn good and unexpectedly sweet story. But that quality was always there, just beneath the obvious first impression, and it seems you never lost sight of it. Also the soundtrack absolutely slaps. Loved this video and can't wait to see what you do next.
Also holy shit, has there ever been a same-generation glow-up as strong as Sonic Adventure 2?! It's still identifiably a sequel to SADX, but the improvements to animations, voice acting, and dialogue are impressive. It even controls a little less jankily! Granted, it trades that in for a more linear story, split into 3 teams instead of 7 stories, but it's easy to see why these games had such a crazy impact on early internet culture. For whatever else you could say about them, they're just so ambitious and strange and unexpected. It's hard not to respect them, even when you're laughing at them.
Although also, with Sonic frontiers it looks like both interpretations; Chaos being based on the chao and the chao being based on Chaos, are true. Sort of. Spoilers but… an ancient race of aliens that look a lot Chaos are introduced and it’s implied that the chao are their descendants.
Somehow the idea of an ancient alien species evolving into the form of the Chao gives me a slight body horror feeling, it reminds me of All Tomorrows and the way it imagines evolutionary fates of humanity.
the thumbnail made me think hard about what the first video game to make me cry was. probably bioshock 2. shout out to my dad for playing that whole game with me and letting me absorb all the m-rated content in that game despite the fact i was seven. you're a real one, pops.
Earthbound wasn't the first game to make me cry, but it's the only game that can make me cry just thinking about the credits. Not even hearing the music, just thinking about them haha
Mine is very cliche but it's Final Fantasy VII. Aeris' death was just a gut punch. And yes, she will always be Aeris' to me since that's how they wrote her name in my copy of the North America version I had when it came out. 😊
For me, it was Order of Ecclesia. I never cried SO HARD about a game that hit me so hard in the emotional gut. Slight spoiler alert, but it helps with the reasons why I cried. Shanoa, the protagonist of the game, loses all her memories due to Dominus, but during the game, she reforms herself via many trials in various locations in her search for her brother, Albus. Sadly, Albus sacrifices himself to save Shanoa's life and the moment when she gains every memory back as a final request from her brother, she cries and smiles. That part BROKE me. I was a horrible MESS because it reminded me of a personal event that involved a family member I knew deeply and is no longer with us. At the same time, her story, in my opinion, is so strong. She reforged herself from so much trauma and came out as a stronger woman. I recommend the game, but it's like Dark Souls from time to time. It can be punishing.😅
You crazy son of a bitch you actually did it. All this time I would have never have guessed a Sonic video coming from this channel but I gotta say you did E-102 Gamma's synopsis justice. As a kid I was devastated but as an adult I'm still impressed with how well written his storyline was. Also weird note but I think this was the last piece of media I recall where it was Doctor Robotnik and "Eggman" was a sort of mockful nickname.
This all just proves, a peacock by any other name could get flawpy with it just as well. Great video, I never thought I'd be this intruiged by a game I never played myself. Knowing how much I related as a kid to tragic characters that were misunderstood, seemed evil, but overcame that within themselves, this would have hit me hard, too.
For me, each of the dream worlds is like looking at a piece of art brought to life. I played the game a LOT as an early teen and found it very fun to play, even with siblings.
Man Flaw Peacock, you came out of nowhere to become one of the funniest, most engaging, insightful, and comforting presences on this platform-and I'm gobsmacked you made such a loving tribute to one of my favorite games. Real nostalgic indeed. Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into your videos. They're really comforting, and I rewatch them often while working on projects. This one is extra special. A story about Sonic Adventure from my childhood: When I was a kid, every Friday my Mom would take me to the game store in the strip mall behind my house (it was called "GAMERS") and, she'd rent me two games for the weekend. We grew really close with the shop's owner (we even took care of his Basset Hound for a couple years when him and his wife had a baby). They got a Japanese Dreamcast when it launched, so we rented it and Sonic Adventure right away (and some other launch titles). I was 9 years old, and the game was obviously entirely in Japanese, but that only made it more appealing (the recent game Tunic has touched on this feeling, I think). And when I heard the music for Emerald Coast Stage 1, it instantly became my favorite song, ever, period. It was bittersweet then that the only way I _could hear it_ back then was to actually _play_ Sonic Adventure-and we never ended up buying a Dreamcast until something like 2010. It made that song, and everything about this game, so much more magical. It's really difficult to get someone who's judging this game through a modern lens to understand how all that makes a kid feel. Also, ironically, my parents bought me a Sega Saturn, and I had a demo disc of NiGHTs into Dreams!
57:00 I do think that cutscene is meant to be how sonic and tails met, because at the start of it tails looks very saddened about something, which considering the fact tails’s backstory is that he spent basically all his life up to meeting sonic being bullied for his second tail makes sense, plus tails looks shocked when he sees sonic in this cutscene, like he’s full of wonder, looking at something completely new to him, like he’s never met him before. Also, I feel like tails probably would’ve said something in this cutscene if he knew sonic at that point, and hey maybe he did in the actual event and at that point he was just too young for current him to remember it so we didn’t see it in the flashback, but the way I see it all signs point to this being how they met
I love talking shop about Gamma. It's a story I hold close to my heart. My interpretation has always been that Gamma is mostly sentient, but not completely. The Animal in the core of the E-Series, and all Eggman's Badniks, are just batteries. The robot shell is just that, which explains the simple AI behaviors of Sonic's enemies in the series. Eggman had visions with Gamma of making him "more". Even if his hardware was supposed to be weaker than that of his brother's, there's still a quote "edge". Based on his behavior, I believe that he's short of truly sentient. You look at his dialogue, his reaction to Amy's blue Flicky, it's like he doesn't have the mental faculties to truly understand his reactions. You have the Battery Core, and you've got the Computer. I think what happened is that, because of Gamma's experimental nature, as well as the familial power of the Flicky powering him (maybe a bit of Chaos interference from interacting with Froggy ((Chaos' tail and a Chaos Emerald)) and Tikal), a link was bridged. Not a full one. And I don't think Gamma is completely aware of it. Like I said before, it doesn't feel like Gamma fully comprehends his existence. It's like if I told my TI-82 a joke. The mechanisms of that artificial brain aren't there to comprehend and create the appropriate reaction. It's a weak bridge, able to only send feelings or an emotion. You can imagine that the Flicky inside Gamma fighting like hell if it was any bit aware that it's child was inches from it, outside of this shell. Gamma is shaking so violently, and then opts to instead free Amy and not follow Eggman's instruction. His reaction also feels like he only did so because he couldn't resolve the conflict in himself, and just wanted Amy and the Blue Flicky to leave to stop the confusion. Look at when Gamma finishes Hot Shelter: He looks at himself, as if he doesn't fully comprehend what he's doing or why he's doing it. Like he's surprised that he's on his own "to free" list. But the instant Beta shows up, that confusion can be ignored and he goes back to mission mode. In the original version of SA1's script, Gamma was supposed to activate his self destruct. We already have an incredibly heavy ending, so I think it was best they went with the Beta attack instead. But we get the emotional climax of Gamma's story: Gamma frees the Flicky inside of Beta. The Tan Flicky flies up to Gamma, and Gamma just walks by. I don't think he fully understands why he's there. I don't think he knows why he's doing what he's doing. His programing seems entirely task based. The bridge between robot brain and power source is still there. It wants to be free and unbound, and maybe a sense of selflessness, or the simple wish of freedom is why Gamma resolves the conflict as a task. It's only when, in his final moments, the bridge allows for the most important information to be sent to Gamma. A picture that was taken of the Flicky family. A picture important enough to be kept with the Blue Flicky. And then in his final moment- and the part that absolutely destroys me every time I see this ending- Gamma gets it. The TI-82 laughs. He understands enough to know why he's doing what he's doing. He understands why the Blue Flicky affected himself. He understands why he's taking the actions he's taking. The last bodily function he takes, is to turn to the Tan Flicky. Look at how his body moves. Throughout the game, his movements has been intentional and even pre-programed in appearance. Here? It's quick. It's natural. It's genuine emotive surprise! I think your take about Gamma intentionally not activating his self-repair sequence is correct. The pieces in-place, facing the creature that was soul bonded to Gamma, as both his Brother and Flicky's Partner, Gamma allows his body to fail. It's not the mind-wiped Flicky that is freed at that moment, but it is Gamma's Soul that becomes unbound. The part disconnected from how he thinks, that leads him to freeing Amy, sparing Sonic, and liberating the animals trapped in his Brothers. Flickies have been a feature of the Sonic franchise for years before SA1. But anyone who's seen Blade Runner can tell you the significance of a Bird representing an artificial being's soul. Thank you for the video
@@crwlrs Thanks! I love the character, and I accept any invitation to dive back into his experience. I also see that @flawedpeacock himself liked my comment! If you see this, thank you so much! I didn't know that editing a comment after it's been favorited, removes the favorited status, so, oops! I wanted to run another draft because there was some awkward wording, and some spots didn't communicate what I was going for well enough. Honestly, this idea of a truly deep dive into Gamma has been my current obsession. Like Gamma's theme telling his story with only sound, in how his main theme contains and traps the Unbound motif, and further plays the notes in a clearly synthetic performance. And sure enough, "Unbound" has that motif, front and center, played crystal clear on a real piano. All with keeping the funky/jazzy aspects of Gamma and Beta's theme songs. Of the how this male military robot has a female bird powering it, and also acts as its soul? It's Jungian! The Animal is the Anima! I'm sure you could expand that out to the male Flicky inside of Beta, and explains his overly aggressive/machismo personality, sans any introspection or compassion. I don't even know where to begin with such an analysis of the Blue Flicky being chased by E-100. Again, thanks for the comment, thanks for the video, thanks anyone who takes the time to read this. I hope we can see this story remastered one day, and treated with the importance it deserves.
Sonic Battle has Chaos Gamma exist and he seems to have some of Gamma's sentience despite not having the bird in him and only being made up from some of Gamma's parts. So I think part of it was just Gamma being unique and part of it was the bird. Also Chaos Gamma and Gamma are NOT the same character, people keep misinterpreting them as being the same.
"The TI-82 laughs." Holy shit, that line got me. You just put my feelings about that one moment into perspective for me. I've always felt that way about the scene but you put it into words perfectly. Godlike analysis 👌
The Adventure duology is very near and dear to my heart since they were my escape from a bad time at school, be it replaying Red Mountain as Gamma or just caring for the Chao (I still vividly remember my favourite Chao from SA2, a Hero Chao with bunny ears called Melody and a Neutral Chao with a ghost tail name Fuzzy who wears a pumpkin). But the biggest reason for why I love SA1 is for introducing Chaos and Gamma who instantly became my favourite Sonic characters alongside Metal Sonic. And seeing all the love and care you put into the video shows how much you treasure the game aswell Flawpy, like I have never noticed that all the animals inside the E-Series are all different birds and I probably replayed Gammas levels the most. Now I am looking even more forward to whatever you will cover next, be it more horror games, more passion projects like this one or even something out of left field like trying to make sense of Kingdom Hearts. Im gonna be sitting here and enjoying the ride.
That final speech man, you may "have appeared out of nothing" in my life, but your passion shows every inch of the way, and your analysis/studies are just so captivating, I can't help but go along with you on those rides but also, do my own dives in every media I hold dear, even if it gets a bit floppy at times, I embrace it. Thank you, for all this fantastic videos, and may your passion keeps being a beacon of radiant floppyness for those still trapped in the darkness of their own mind!
E102-Gamma's story is best experienced after the others anyways, so I'm glad you're going through it the way you are. I nearly watched the premiere, unfortunately I missed it, but I'm glad to sit down now and watch and listen to your great story telling and explanations on a game I adored as a child myself
Personally, I'd love for you to continue doing seasons. It's a nice way to organize your catalogue of videos, and I love the ways the skits tie the season videos to each other and provide its own subplot.
What are the chances? A youtuber who I have recently fallen in love with, because I feel like everything you create here bleeds genuine passion and interest for what you're covering. And then I'm blessed with a video from you on a game that shaped my childhood. Not to mention, this video has prominent focus on a character that made a HUGE impact on me when I was younger. Gamma introduced me properly to the concept of loss. To see that he had that same impact on you is so validating. This is the kind of thing its so hard to talk to other people about, how a silly little robot man in the goofy sonic game made you, and still makes me tear up about. I dunno if this video is gonna do numbers for you or not, but I just wanted to elaborate how fucking important your exploration of this game was to me. Thank you, and please stay floppy.
I didn't think I'd actually learn new info about this game. This was the first game I ever bought with my own money (on the dreamcast!) and is forever in my top 5. I'm glad you gave it such a thorough look
42:07 is a reference to Fallout 4. Desdemona is part of The Railroad, a group fighting for the freedom of sentient robots. I feel like that game is so old (or likely to not know the details) and the joke may go over people's head.
I honestly love hearing you talk about anything, also this was a jumpscare of a video to get recommended just to find out it’s you with the famous whiteboard
With the end of Season 2, I've gotta say I love the style of your videos. I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say about Signalis, and whatever else Season 3 has to offer. One of these days, I'll get around to making my own flawpy-as-hell whiteboard in a vain attempt to explain all the connections between Nier and Drakengard.
Two things; I (and I imagine a fair number of other people) absolutely would not mind you doing a video on games that you just like that don't really 'need' explaining (suchas Evolution that you mentioned in the video), general plot recaps/things you like about/themes you notice in stuff are totally cool too. Second, if older games that you wouldn't explicitly expect to need explained (Like I kind of figured SA1 would be, and SA2 if you get to it (please do, that one's MY childhood)), I'd love to see you do a video on Dark Cloud 2. That game's a pretty hefty PS2 JRPG so it might be too time consuming to... consume, let alone make a video about, but it's got so much charm, and a lovely story. And tons of neat mechanics, minigames, music, etc. All the same, thanks for all your hard work, another banger!
Man I held it together until the end when you were talking about pouring your all into your passions. I'd been feeling so stagnated in my crocheting because I felt I wasn't good enough to do anything more than flat square things. Then I made a tran flag colored flail for a friend and it was like a horrible weight lifted off me. Crocheting is fun again, I just need to be confident and branch out to do silly things with it!
10:22 I always loved these outbursts of sincere laught or revelation of Peacock which happen throughout the videos. It so satisfying to see how someone excited and passionate about their work
I found your channel through your recent video on Love, Sam so finding this on your channel made my jaw drop. I RARELY see Sonic Adventure, my favorite Sonic game of all time that changed me as an artist, maybe even as a person with how young I was when I played it for the first time, discussed at this length with this much detail. It's the game that sold me on Sonic as a whole and I love it to bits so much still to this day that I'm currently writing a bit of a fan passion project, a storybook that's Sonic related but nothing like the modern stuff (though I do like it too, actually) I always had a hard time explaining why I love this game so much and it's story telling and character growth. It was one of those things you just had to experience yourself. When I showed this game to my partner, who never saw this game in it's entirety, had to listen to me not trying to choke up over E-102 Gamma. Whether it's because of my love for innocent animals or my own history with an abusive father I don't know, but man does Gamma, a single instance character, drive home the emotional depth this universe can go....when SEGA allows it (thanks for that Penders :/ ) If you read this far I have a question, would you ever want to make more Sonic related videos? I remember Sonic Heroes having a unique approach to story telling with a story a lot of folks slept on. Not to mention Sonic Frontiers changing how we see Chaos FOREVER.
I have a very vivid memory of beating Gammas story with my grandma before she passed. I asked her why he had to die, and she said "I'm not sure, but he brought those birds back together as a family." And I know that's nothing like, profound or out there.. But as a child my grandma not having an immediate answer to why the hero just died, but still brought about a happy ending kinda sparked something in me as well. Very interesting how shit like that falls into place.
wow. really great video. was happy to be able to catch roughly the first 30 minutes in the premiere before i had to go but this was well worth the watch. i loved the juxtaposition of a touching end card being interrupted by the main menu.
This game has always been a favorite of mine (and was my first Sonic game as well!). Awesome seeing you cover it in your style and hearing your story with the game!
OMGGGGGGG THIS WAS MY CHILDHOOD!!!!! PROFESSOR FLAW COMES THRU AGAIN WITH ANOTHER BANGER!!! I hope one day you stream both the sonic adventures live! I would love a return of AoOni FlawPeacock arg shenanigans again!
My brother and I, a few months back, got to play SA1. Still on SA2 at the moment, but taking a slight break. Think Imma nudge my little brother to play it again jist to see what happens next. >:3
been watching your videos since the "Whos Lila?" cover. genuinely makes me happy to see your channel doing so well. the production quality of your videos speaks for itself tho so im not surprised by the growth so far. and i have no doubt your channel will continue to grow. best of luck in the future. ps thanks for covering sonic adventure. its one of the first games i played as a child back in the day on my fathers windows xp pc. i cant count how many hours spent and playthroughs i did as a kid. i was surprised that this was your next game to cover. but a very welcome one nonetheless.
I don't know if anyone else has said this in this comment section, but the Flicky that appears with Amy in the cutscene where Sonic turns into Super Sonic, is the same pink Flicky in Gamma. I'd like to think that the pink Flicky remembers their time as the heart of Gamma, and meets with Amy, fulfilling their promise to meet again.
It was very funny to get this notification the day right after I finished playing Sonic Adventure for the first time with a friend, didn't have time to watch until now I'm glad there's someone else out there who loved Gamma's character, because it honestly did make me cry a little bit, even if we were mostly joking around in our playthrough
"you have feelings for something you know nothing about" then seeing how Gamma reacts to the bird, knowing the full story since i was a kid, really did almost made me tear up. I didnt expect myself to have such a reaction. Does not compute! It might not be on your radar at all, but it'd be cool too see a floppy look at Sonic Adventure 2 as well. These videos are amazing to watch, both in a fully invested marathon or on the background. Awesome stuff man
This video made me feel at peace. I like how you framed each story of the characters, it made me smile Also i find it kinda funny that grimora’s destruction of the shell somehow managed to carry through into this video Thank you for this, I’m glad I got to catch this premiere :)
How you of all people dug up my ancient memories of EVOLUTION WORLDS of all fucking games in nothing less than a Sonic Adventure analysis video is absolutely flabbergasting. Thank you, you beautiful man for unearthing so much nostalgia in one video.
I just finished watching the final Inscription video yesterday, goes without saying watching this directly after is giving me insane whiplash, but a very welcome one lol
only about half an hour into the vid but just wanted to say, it feels a bit bizarre watching this as someone who's previously watched breakdowns of these games and the overall Sonic Lore by people who were already deep in the know since childhood and thus speak about it in a very matter-of-fact way, as opposed to you presenting it to us as if we're all equally as out of the loop as you are and discovering it alongside you. When I first found out about Mobians, that "oh they as a species have a name now?" moment was only briefly in my own head but not at all acknowledged by the media telling me the information because those videos mainly came from the POV of someone with experience gently guiding me through a franchise they've been super involved in for years. (NezumiVA and Lowart are both awesome channels with a ton of great Sonic videos btw) That said, I'm rly enjoying what feels like you sharing your experience of coming back to this piece of your childhood many years later and finding out all of this lore for the first time.
I stand by gama and the bird are both the same and different, gama was the robot that was programmed and the bird was the part of him that slowly broke away from the programing until he was freed then the robot part of him fully died. Willingly so
I may not have been playing these games when they were big, in fact still haven't really touched them. But I can feel the sincerity of it, and feel very similarly about the Ratchet and Clank series. Tools of Destructions ending at the time filled me with a certain dread I hadn't felt at that point.
I love your channel so much. You are very creative and have such a wholesome vibe. Your skits have always been inspiring and you always make my day. Keep creating things you love as long as you like. :) b
as soon as you mentioned the "High Quality Rip" you linked in the description i knew exactly what video was going to be linked. you son of a gun. Excellent video, by the way. Made me redownload the game and I am going to try and 100% it. Thank you for your service. Keep up the great work.
genuinely teared up at sonic's kindness and then later again at the photo at the end. cant wait to see everything else your heart wishes to show us, in your own time
Ok, after having watched this I'm convinced that just like Wendigoon and H.Bomber Guy that Flaw Peacock can make me care about literally anything through their own passion for the subjects they cover and their maxed out charisma stat. Legit was here just for horror and mystery content but here I am deeply invested a children's game about a talking blue hedgehog. God bless you Flaw Peacock. P.S. I hope you cover Darkwood one day. Its seems like the deep horror games you already like.
@@KOTEBANAROT I didn't have a Shadow pfp when I wrote this. This video got me interested in the franchise seeing as the last time I played a Sonic game I was 13 years old and it was Sonic & Knuckles on Sega Genesis. I'm almost 40 now.
man, thank you so much for the end of this video... I will, and I look forward to the future, both my own and whatever shows up on this channel. I have taken this message from all the other videos of yours that I've seen, so cheers, and here's to another season. Na svidenje!
Just found this channel yesterday. This dude’s absolute mad scientist excitement is addictive to watch. It’s awesome to see someone else get as stoked about storylines and themes as much as I do.
Honestly you've made me care so much for a collection of games that I've never played, that if you ever covered something like Neir or Lobotomy corp I would instantly pass away. Keep being floppy with it king!
I can't believe, I almost cry with this end. Flaw peacock is a amazing channel and I fucking love it. Thank u man, for make this all so loveable and awesome
I dunno what took me so long to watch this video but it was AMAZING! It's clear that this game has an important place in your heart and it is so amazing to be able to enjoy this for the first time through you. A smile on my face all the way through
Thank you so much for this video... Kinda want to see a video on Sonic Adventure 2, now, and I'm not even a third of the way through this one. Edit: I think it's interesting that Gamma's theme doesn't have a name. Only after he dies does it get the name of "Unbound", which is so powerful.
As the season comes to a close, I wanna say thank you! Finding you channel through a friend has been the highlight of 2023 and 2024 for me. Your content is everything my weird slimey brain craves.
Sonic adventure ran so Detroit become human could crawl

E-123 Omega: Don't care+Didn't Ask+L+Ratio+ I am going to kill Eggman with my bare hands!
What a perfect analogy for the quality of storytelling in the Sonic series' downfall
In one of the comics, Gamma is actually the reason Omega gains free will. Of course that's not exactly cannon anymore since that was during the Archie run.

Meanwhile another video 3 weeks later: hello there
Interestingly, as a kid I identified strongly with Knuckles, while as an adult I'm much more of a Tails.

Going from an entire digitial universe being deleted, world-ending devices, and the potential thought of an evil clown demon having the codes, to Sonic Adventure is whiplash on a cosmic level
And I love it.
Dude same. Why did this happen with more than one person? 😂
It's good you don't have a French accent or that could have played out way different
I love that when I become hyperfixated on something, you turn around the corner and end up covering it at some point.

Thank you Fernanda! I'm glad this video could have such a great memory re-emerge.
0:04 idk what it is but just the dude staring at flaw peacock was enough to choke from laughter. Never change
seeing you go from Mullinsverse to this is hilarious
Actually feels appropriate though because Sonic was one of the inspirations for Weasel Kid in The Hex along with Mario and Crash
By the way, Mobians and Mobini's aren't part of the lore, they were only ever part of the series' Comic Book lore, and even then were retconned out.
Thank God.
Period.
@@TheSunsetHero256 The strangest part of this is that they tried to explain sonic adventure and sonic interacting with humans in the modern games by going "eh sonic just goes to the human world sometimes"
But that doesn't match the insanity of the archie comics saying "Mobius is a post apocalyptic earth after squid aliens dropped a gene bomb on the planet and the remaining people were mutant humans called overlanders and Furries, except for the humans in Station Square who were just like that because they hid in a mountain"
ok but
1. ytp robotnik says mobius
2. ogilvie maurice was established by the comics

1. That was a cartoon that even for the time contradicted the games.
2. Yeah, the Archie Comics aren't canon.
It’s confirmed by the writers in Sonic team that Chaos was a chao that was mutated by the master emerald.
Although also, with Sonic frontiers it looks like both interpretations; Chaos being based on the chao and the chao being based on Chaos, are true. Sort of. Spoilers but… an ancient race of aliens that look a lot Chaos are introduced and it’s implied that the chao are their descendants.
Somehow the idea of an ancient alien species evolving into the form of the Chao gives me a slight body horror feeling, it reminds me of All Tomorrows and the way it imagines evolutionary fates of humanity.
it was even heavily hinted at in the original japanese version of Sonic Adventure where in the cutscenes with Tikal, Chaos made CHAO NOISES

Was about to leave a comment about Bioshock 2, and lo and behold, there is one already!
For me it was Mother 3
Insane that after these dark games, S2 ends with sonic adventure
You are truly my comfort youtuber, everything you make tickles my brain just right
Calling Nights Cirque du Soleil meets Spyro is probably the best way to describe it. A lot of flying through hoops in strange dream like worlds.
Tails: "Alls well that ends well, right?"
Knuckles: "Tails, you're standing on a mass of drowned bodies."
three banger FP videos in the span of only a month, life is beautiful!!!
I've got places to be, but this dude's got me Floppy.

@@TheSunsetHero256man this analysis was so excellent it made me cry :(
@@crwlrs Thanks!

One of these days, I'll get around to making my own flawpy-as-hell whiteboard in a vain attempt to explain all the connections between Nier and Drakengard.
Season 2 dipped in Mama Flaw's Peacock sauce
It so satisfying to see how someone excited and passionate about their work
Never gonna unhear "what escota" when I play this game now. Awesome video as always Mr peacock.
Whether it's because of my love for innocent animals or my own history with an abusive father I don't know, but man does Gamma, a single instance character, drive home the emotional depth this universe can go....when SEGA allows it (thanks for that Penders :/ )
If you read this far I have a question, would you ever want to make more Sonic related videos? I remember Sonic Heroes having a unique approach to story telling with a story a lot of folks slept on. Not to mention Sonic Frontiers changing how we see Chaos FOREVER.
I have a very vivid memory of beating Gammas story with my grandma before she passed.
I asked her why he had to die, and she said "I'm not sure, but he brought those birds back together as a family."
And I know that's nothing like, profound or out there..

A 3 hour long video of my favorite Sonic story? This is pure awesomeness
You just earned yourself a sub
That's some astonishing speed (no pun intended) of production, considering the research involved
I never noticed that zero doesn't release an animal when defeated ○.○ great catch!
You cannot miss the Rhythm Badge. You can't finish the flashback without picking it up.

I'm glad there's someone else out there who loved Gamma's character, because it honestly did make me cry a little bit, even if we were mostly joking around in our playthrough
Awesome stuff man
Gonna need a deep breakdown on the echidna civilization their downfall and the distribution of their ruins stat!
"'Please do fear and hunger!' sorry bud, the best i can give ya is sonic the hedgehog"
as a funger enjoyer i fucking love this lmao
This video made me feel at peace. I like how you framed each story of the characters, it made me smile
Also i find it kinda funny that grimora’s destruction of the shell somehow managed to carry through into this video
Thank you for this, I’m glad I got to catch this premiere :)
How you of all people dug up my ancient memories of EVOLUTION WORLDS of all fucking games in nothing less than a Sonic Adventure analysis video is absolutely flabbergasting. Thank you, you beautiful man for unearthing so much nostalgia in one video.
I just finished watching the final Inscription video yesterday, goes without saying watching this directly after is giving me insane whiplash, but a very welcome one lol
only about half an hour into the vid but just wanted to say,
it feels a bit bizarre watching this as someone who's previously watched breakdowns of these games and the overall Sonic Lore by people who were already deep in the know since childhood and thus speak about it in a very matter-of-fact way, as opposed to you presenting it to us as if we're all equally as out of the loop as you are and discovering it alongside you.
When I first found out about Mobians, that "oh they as a species have a name now?" moment was only briefly in my own head but not at all acknowledged by the media telling me the information because those videos mainly came from the POV of someone with experience gently guiding me through a franchise they've been super involved in for years.
(NezumiVA and Lowart are both awesome channels with a ton of great Sonic videos btw)
That said, I'm rly enjoying what feels like you sharing your experience of coming back to this piece of your childhood many years later and finding out all of this lore for the first time.
I AM ACTUALLY CRYING MY FAVORITE TH-camR MAKING A VIDEO ABOUT ONE OF MY FAVORITE GAMES??? 😭😭
as soon as you mentioned the "High Quality Rip" you linked in the description i knew exactly what video was going to be linked. you son of a gun.
Excellent video, by the way. Made me redownload the game and I am going to try and 100% it. Thank you for your service. Keep up the great work.
genuinely teared up at sonic's kindness and then later again at the photo at the end. cant wait to see everything else your heart wishes to show us, in your own time
I like how the heroes are beating chaos' ass left and right, but they are still losing every single one of the emeralds.
Man this is such a masterpiece
Ok, after having watched this I'm convinced that just like Wendigoon and H.Bomber Guy that Flaw Peacock can make me care about literally anything through their own passion for the subjects they cover and their maxed out charisma stat.
Legit was here just for horror and mystery content but here I am deeply invested a children's game about a talking blue hedgehog.
God bless you Flaw Peacock.
P.S. I hope you cover Darkwood one day. Its seems like the deep horror games you already like.
Why do you have shadow pfp if you dont care
It’s awesome to see someone else get as stoked about storylines and themes as much as I do.
no way they made super weasel kid into a real thing
Honestly you've made me care so much for a collection of games that I've never played, that if you ever covered something like Neir or Lobotomy corp I would instantly pass away. Keep being floppy with it king!
Going from the who’s Lila video to this is whiplash. I love it
Your videos are such a treat, those dancing montages to the first stage's OST had me genuinely laughing out loud
was NOT expecting sonic youre so real for this
I can't believe, I almost cry with this end.
I am so happy you covered a Sonic game!! Sonic media was absolutely my childhood, making this a beautiful coincidental birthday gift, AAAH!
As the season comes to a close, I wanna say thank you! Finding you channel through a friend has been the highlight of 2023 and 2024 for me. Your content is everything my weird slimey brain craves.
