It's kind of ironic that even in the original, the deaths of his children themselves don't seem like he was intentional, c.c. he was killed by a fredber. With elizabeth, it could be an accident that afton didn't foresee "Same as with c.c" and michael could get himself killed on purpose because he had no one to live for. It could all be his doing, but it could also be that the killing machines weren't meant for his kids but for other kids. As for Henry, I believe that after springlock it should be his duty to secure the robots. Because if the afton snapped then someone else could also end up dead by the machines 'which henry didn't do' being more or less michael's accomplice in killing c.c which could make william hate them for that and start to be wary of them. That he could not have foreseen springloct is ok, but how come he didn't think for a moment that if an older guy could lock himself in, the child could even more so? There is no excuse for Afton's crimes. But it's hard not to take into account the fact that henry has had a hand in many a person's misfortune by being william's 'unwitting' accomplice
