My first cockatiel lived to be 18 years old. I don’t know how old she was when i got her so she may have been older, but i grew up with her in my life. She was one of my best friends 🥲 I now have two juvenile cockatiels. Heres to a nice long life for both of them
My boy will be 15 years young next month. I know because I bought him when he didn't have a full crest yet & a friend who raises them told me approximately how old he was.
Given the age of my little old lady, you may have another ten years yet! As we learn more about their nutrition, they are living longer and longer. I wish you many further years of feathers, poop and nightfrights with your crazy boy!
My cockatiel is 32 years old bought in 1991 for my child’s 13th birthday,if buying a cockatiel please remember these birds can live a very long time and as they get really old they do need extra attention my birds beak now cannot open sunflower seeds so I buy shredded sunflower seeds I also collet fresh seeds UN spayed and shred them I have to give him a budgie bell as it’s easier for him.also you have to pay extra attention to their feathers at this age as they can get a wee bit soiled,also they are weaker at flying and love eating and sleeping,but my birds happy and loves listening to younger cockatiels on my phone.I would really check out how to look after a bird properly before buying then you will have a contented bird or better still get two they love company.
