I must of heard this song a month ago on some random Spotify list. Had no idea who sang it, just a melody stuck in my head with no clue how to find it. I’ve whistled it, hummed it to a couple friends, literally searched 20 Spotify lists to no avail. Then this morning it popped up again and I immediately bought the album. Haven’t had that happen for years. The sheer joy of finally solving this mystery ear worm will carry me through the week.
Great reaction, really put a smile on my face! 😁 The music is pure sunshine yet the lyrics are razor sharp - I enjoyed Andy's analysis of them. It's a really good album. Thanks for sharing!
Tune! The whole album is a belter. I loved Light Up Gold, but this is several steps up. Reminds me of mid-Pavement in terms of attitude - spin the bottle and pick a genre.
Damn I always heard it as “these are your lips, this is how they taste” which to me sounds so much cooler haha. I’m a lyric guy but hadn’t looked them up yet!
There you go Greg. Wide Awake was my favorite album of 2018. Start to finish it's brilliant and every song is quite different. I don't think I can name a favorite track. Just start with Total Football and work your way through the album. Andy says he likes surprises so check out Almost Had To Start A Fight. It has so many changes of direction.
@@intothemusic908 I checked if they're touring and it turns out they're playing here next Friday at a club 5 minutes walk from my place at the unfortunately named Corona Theater. Lol.
Thanks, Arthur. Knowing the lock-out ended last night, I was going to try and strip out that MLB stuff when editing, but then decided that both sides taking this long still deserved Andy's "M-F-er" salute. LOL.
Hey, my ears were ringing! Like Andy, they've been on my radar, I haven't listened to them. I was expecting something harder, more punk. I really enjoyed it. Their sound, at least in this song, like a latter-day Madness. The piano, vocal style, social commentary, all very Nutty Boy, Madness. Great job guys. However, not so good "Phil" imitation...
"Well i can count how many times i've been outdone by nihilism" is one of my favorite lines ever.
"no! don't end!" so real

Love this anecdote!

Never resonated with lyrics this much

Thanks, LLJ!

love the pretension without the condescension. Subbed
Welcome! Also a great sound.
I was willing to try a little tenderness and it was cool! And cheer up, baseball starts April 7th!

@@intothemusic908 No regrets.
Arthur, did you think this was going to be a General Public cover as well?
@@Pcrimson1 I think that was originally by Otis Redding,,,,
