Love it, Just go for it based on the day, the conditions, relax and experiment with something different. This makes it fun and by the way it's called fishin' not catchin'. if we were guaranteed a big bag, we wouldn't appreciate it and there would be no stories to tell. I got frustrated late summer, tied on a double drop shot and caught two bass at the same time for the first time ever just being silly and trying to make something happen. I don't tournament fish so I don't know what the rules are but I just like to figure things out, be on the water and have a good time. Thanks for the perspective and sharing your knowledge. You do make a difference and want you to know you are appreciated.
Randy, I believe you are on to something, and I support the cause as to not using any boxes at all if I was boat fishing. Just be careful going shallow, being sure of depth. I hope you get out there and just annihilate them! Be safe and keep making vids!
3 fish limits on all tournaments would offset FFS and make it more competitive for traditional fishing we use to have 10 fish limits then Ray Scott changed to a 5 fish limit time for a change again and it would help protect the resource. What’s your thoughts on this?
I’m a shoreline only bass fisherman, and I catch hundreds of bass a year from 2-8 lb without any electronics! 🤣🤣 Over 90% of the bass I catch are beyond 100 ft from shore too. There are few, if any, bass at my lakes/ponds within 50 ft from shore due to the high pressure placed on the bass. The further you can cast, the more fish you’re gonna catch…it’s fairly simplistic when fishing from the shore….and my most used lure for bass fishing from shore is the 3/4 oz lipless crank (hot tip: red colored craw cranks are fire right now during the winter to spawn months..it’s my most productive color by far right now…white/shad or ghost colors are a distant 2nd).
Interesting, I have taken parts of a lake for years and tried to just focus and get to know that one smaller area. Like I tell my fishing buddy, it's still bigger than many ponds and there are plenty of bass there. The comment about catching 5 keepers reminds me of Guido Hibdon and how he approached using a Gitzit and spinning rods years ago. Good luck!!
Fishing free! Sounds familiar. It seems when I golf and having a bad day, I'll just say the heck with it, I'm not going to shoot a good score, I loosen up and start hitting better shots.
Randy ur the best..I'm from Joplin ..I have 3 boys..what's some good spots you can recommend i can go fishing at..Stockton or bullshoals area? love the videos ... Been watching your videos for the past 7 months. In Oregon then move back to missouri. To joplin, and then find out you're from here..awesome
On youtube, there is a multi year study on ffs effect on fisheries there. Esp. crappie. And it's bad. Apparently multiple states are doing this. And it's ALL bad. Catch rates for crappie is up 70% in miss. for instance. It's killing northern states where growth rates are slow. Thought you might find it interesting (if not maddening). ///bill
I've seen you use the "swing for the fences" plan a lot of times before- and I never agreed with it. I'm a "get a limit first!", type of fisherman. Most on my lakes are very tough, and if you get a limit, you will likely be in the top 1/3-1/4 of the field. Do that consistently and you will be in good shape at the end of the year-besides- sometimes you will catch a hawg amongst the mediums!
Exciting I'm not only for you because you're old school I'm also for you because you're older like me. But I will horror myself out to the scope if I have to.
In years past you have said “I swung for the fenses and threw a big swim bait” numerous times during tournament recap videos. Did you find that philosophy was wrong? Or, what is different now? Maybe trying to win a tournament vs qualifying for something?
I'm not a bass fishing guy but I enjoy your channel. I fish for catfish and crappie. On this forward facing sonar controversy, my opinion is if you are fishing professional tournaments all electronics should be banned. The best of the best shouldn't need electronics to help you catch fish. Leave that for average anglers just out having fun. Electronics should be banned in all PROFESSIONAL tournaments, bass, catfish and crappie or whatever being fished for.
No he’s not. He says there’s too many spawn season tournaments yet in this video he says his series is throughout the spawn. And it’s ok to beat the banks absolutely to death but open water fisherman should leave those alone. I’m unsubscribing, I’m done hearing how bad everyone else is but he does everything they do.
"Do as I say, not as I do". Remember his last video where he called out all those pros for being cowards and not speaking out about FFS? Here's a prime ex@mole of why many call Randy a hypocrite ... he's said many times there are too many tournaments yet h3 has planned another full year of fishing events ... he claims FFS has ruined tournament fishing and needs to be banned yet when a major circuit does ban it he doesn't switch to fishing only that circuit ... the hypocrisy around here is palatable ...
The premise that you are a better bass fisherman and others have cheat equipment is wrong to begin with Randy. I think you should fish however you please. But your actions one way or another will certainly never affect me. This is pure narcissism.
Well it is real bass fishing. It's not having a machine tell you what to do all day. I have no idea what to call that but it's certainly not real bass fishing.
Keep it up, brother. I'm right with you on the FFS by the way. I don't think it should be outlawed for weekend anglers but it definitely should be banned from tournaments.
@moondog5553 let's do h.p. on engine 's worth different, aluminum vs fiberglass different points, rod reel combos different points, polarized sunglasses different points, flip flops vs crocks different points. Then mabey, just mabey Randy could win again
Real bass fishermen don't target spawning bass, either. Do you spend any time trying to find and catch spawning bass? Fishing for spawning bass allows you to see how they react to bait presentations, and watching the bass actually pick up the lure. If a spawning bass is caught, pulling the spawning bass off of their nests, or away from protecting their spawned eggs or fry has a bigger negative impact on bass populations, than using FFS or other electronics. FFS is used to primarily search for non-spawning bass. IF found, you can view, how they react to lure presentations, see when bass may bite the lure, and possibly catching the targeted fish. Locating fish with FFS is, by no means, going to guarantee a fisherman can catch them.
I get so sick of this comparison of FFS to real sight fishing. They are absolutely not the same thing and anybody that says they are is delusional. What sources do you have for your claim that sight fishing is worse for bass than FFS? Also, if FFS is sight fishing then every single one hooked outside the mouth using FFS should be thrown back right?
why do you need a practice day? just go to the lake as most of REAL bass fisherman do and then catch a bass and only use a flasher for etolectronics then see how good you are like the rest of us do. stop fishing and using the bass to make money.
Randy, you cannot speak of fish caught with legal approved, electronics or deep and how easy or difficult it is because you know nothing about it. Yes, the deep fish have always been out there, except because of all the bank beaters they were driven out there. Now with guys targeting deep fish, I believe there will be more balance on lakes as shown with the elite series on Champlain last year. Also remember your strategy with your traditional fishing, is not a winning strategy just remember you’re telling people how to fish and not win .
As I plan on continuing to tune in occasionally through 2025, here’s how you can affect me. Fix your damn mic. Seriously, the quality of your audio is about a 2 out of 10 compared to every other channel I watch.
Hey Randy, you’re a good fisherman but just stay off of TH-cam man. Go fishing, enjoy your family and allocate all the time you spend filming and editing videos doing things that matter. This does not matter, people who think it matters are a bunch of try hard posers that need to take their rod holders and hot dogs home.
Well, you watching and leaving a comment is an incentive to stay. I hope you comment 12 times. I hope you respond to this for as long as I can keep you hooked. Thanks for the views

Pretty solid year for little practice and limited electronics!
I feel like I’m watching Billy Madison talk about the Puppy Who Lost His Way.
There’s actually no decision that you can make, that will affect any of us. Maybe your immediate family. But no one else.
3 fish limits on all tournaments would offset FFS and make it more competitive for traditional fishing we use to have 10 fish limits then Ray Scott changed to a 5 fish limit time for a change again and it would help protect the resource. What’s your thoughts on this?
It'd def help. Still easier to get 3 good fish with FFS tho.
Sir Randall wishing you well, keep on keeping on, it's all good

Why not fish the NPFL since they do not allow FFS?!
Well he says he is basically a TH-camr. He is gonna fish a few derbs and focus primarily on TH-cam. His pro career is mostly over.

Each fish caught without livescope should hold more value, kinda like a three pointer in the NBA
The less technology, the more skill is required. Catching one bare handed should count triple.
