  • Beppu Benten Pond was located in the precincts of #Beppu Itsukushima Shrine in #Beppu Mizukami, Akiyoshi-cho, #Mine City, #Yamaguchi Prefecture. 4 meters deep, the bottom of the pond is visible. Located on the karst plateau of Akiyoshidai, it looked cobalt blue depending on the angle of the sunlight. According to the explanatory sign, the principle is not exactly known. This kind of natural phenomenon often depends on the weather, but my impression is that if the sun is shining, it looks almost cobalt blue. I have no evidence, but..., there were a lot of people at the Obon vacation on August 12, 2024. To geocache, you need to watch out for muggles, the pathway to the GZ area is the way to the concession stand and there are a lot of people there. Parking is a problem, but there is a temporary second parking lot that you have to walk to, so you don't have to give up your visit because you can't park your car there. They are very considerate of their visitors. I came here after visiting Shuho-do and saw that the parking lot of Shuho-do was saturated with cars, and the traffic was so congested that cars could not even squeeze into the oncoming lanes. Although Akiyoshido also has a large number of parking spaces available, the number of tourist cars during the Obon vacation exceeded our expectations. I thought that it would be nice if there was someone to organize the road, since the residents were also in a difficult situation. Now let's see the beautiful blue released from the pond!
