I love Miki and Jimmy and the whole Smalls scene they are part of. Miki has her own youtube channel and is often at Smalls which has a free live feed on its own youtube channel -- very generous and smart of the club to do and for the artists to allow it. That's Jazz. :-)

the energy and sincerity of your soul's expression seems to cross over from one medium (speech) to your other medium (piano) and visa versa! I'm looking forward to catching your Birdland gig and watching you continue to grow as a musical and personal force in the years to come! Congrats!!! Ichiban desu!

I really enjoyed hearing the first part of her story, but was expecting to hear about what happened next in terms of how she got to where she is now....

Great story! I would like to learn more about Miki's visa situation. I assume that when she came here for the second time it was on a F-1 student visa (to study English at CCNY), which forbids full time employment and has limited options for financial self-support. How did she manage that? After her F-1 status expired, what other visa did she apply for?

There’s a special visa classification P1 for artists and performers.
