The Sparks are a class of it´s own. Everything they did in the last decades were great and had and have style. I love the Sparks since i´ve seen them at the Musikladen on TV with Something For The Girl With Everything as i were a young boy at ten...
Pretty cool, in the beginning I thought it’s one of those pseudo-80s band , because nowadays sometimes it’s hard to tell, but to my pleasant surprise it’s authentic 💃. I see some Amanda Lear influences 💃
More great stuff from the evergreen Sparks' catalogue, including the back catalogue. Apparently Noël's actual name has never been made public. I just watched a video on Mickey Dolenz (and the Monkees) a few hours ago: weird coincidence.
Wow! Never heard of that song or the project before and now I cannot sit anymore because my whole body wants to move ;). Such a catchy tune and all in all a great song! Reminds me of the Moog phase around No. 1 Song in Heaven. I'll definitely listen to the whole album asap. Thanks for sharing!
Glorious at last to see Noël.( I always secretly believed it was the veritable Russel singing, I must have been misled by the similar Maelish production.) She doesn't disappoint, not for one second. "Gotta beat the clock" to get the 45th anniversary album!

Such a brilliant idea to release this video. A first for me anyway to see this done, bands might release a remastered song from the past, but not a song by another musician that they wrote years earlier. Sparks are still thinking far deeper, and showing a more original approach than other, much younger musicians.
I'm pretty sure I must have heard Sparks when I was growing up in 1970's UK because when Siouxsie covered This Town on their Through The Looking Glass I had a vague idea of who they were but I assumed they weren't making music any more. They next popped up on my radar in 1988 when they collaborated with Les Rita Mitsouko and I mistakenly thought they were a couple of "hasbeens" hitching their cart to a more succesful act. The next time I became aware of them was in 1995 when they had a massive hit in Germany and I was surprised that they were still around. Then nothing until I saw The Sparks Brothers in 2021 which has made a Sparks obsessive of me!
Does anyone else think it sounds like a Christmas song? Fanastic to have a Noel video! Can't wait to get a CD of this after years of listening to it on a bad-sounding picture disc.
Russell did the guide vocals for this album. Not sure if they were hands on in the studio as Noel was recording it. Imagine if the record had become some sort of monster hit . The Mael's would of then had a lot of offers forthcoming from disco land and other quarters to write other stuff most likely .
That was fun A little underwhelming of a video but a nice song I oughtta know why dancing is dangerous wasn’t a bigger hit in its day but I do not Anyway yay Ron & Russell Yay Noël I wish great things for all of you
It would be interesting to know where this one copy of the video was actually found. Great to see it after all these years but it must have cost peanuts to make as the only visual is Noel singing & very badly dancing. I used to work in a few record shops in London in '79 & being a huge Sparks fan since 'This town' I was absolutely loving the direction Sparks were going with the 'number 1 song' album. They were back in the UK top 10 with a ground breaking electronic disco album which has stood the test of time. If I played that in the shop over our loud speakers I would always make a few sales. When the Noel album & single was released I did give them a spin too but the reaction from my fellow workers & the public wasn't so good. It was just too cheesy they said, which was a fair reaction looking back. It didn't sell & with no promotion behind it, it bombed. We'd already had four years of stunning electronic disco hits that Giorgio had produced with Donna Summer & this was sounding already dated when released unfortunately. I knew a few DJs in some of the better discos in London at the time as well who would regularly play tracks from 'No 1 song' cos they were floor fillers but the Noel track never got played as it would clear dancefloors which didn't help of course. They were fun, special years back then & disco dominated everything. I'm so glad I lived through those years cos I had an absolute ball. I still have my rare picture disc of the Noel album though!
In 1979, my DJ friend Jay introduced me to this track. Miss you!
I am obsessed with this! A terrific song I cannot get out of my head.
