- Hey Everyone, this is a ride along video on why i think you should get an Ebike. This is a video for those on the fence about it. I hope this gives you some extra info to help in your decision!
It's well worth it, I also own a 1500w hub it's collection dust not a fan of it hahah only advantage it has over the mid drive is if the chain or derailleur breaks you can still ride home. You can also program the mid-drive I got a black box programmer from luna cycle thing is wicked man it comes preloaded with different presets, or you can customize your own presets I made a setting where I could bike as far as King city and back, only did that 3 times and I live in Scarborough hahaha Good vid man also subbed 👊
Thanks! Yeah I am looking at the idea of building my own e-bike. I am handy, and I really prefer to build one myself because it allows me the options that would work best. I am building a campervan from my 2010 transit connect and my new "donor" bike is a 2019 Montague Paratrooper. The size and way the bike folds fits nicely inside my van while driving/traveling and if I come across some nice area can pull it out and take a ride. Happy Travels
I'm a long time rider (73) who is getting unable or maybe unwilling to take the pain of long rides or hills. You make a great point in that you can reclaim the joy of just riding around exploring. I am building up a bike much like yours and had some questions. Are you using stock controller programming? You ride much like I do changing gears as required by the terrain which seems to be uncommon. What kind of range can I expect riding like you do on a 48v/17Ah battery? I can't wait for the weather to warm up... Thanks
Thanks for the great video. :)
I have a E- Bike . Feel the same way.
Hey Steve, enjoyed your vids especially I'm on the E-bike fence and you really convince me! I also have a Specialized Crosstrail and going to get the same setup with 750W Bafang kit in Calgary.
Awesome man! It's a great setup, you will have a blast 😁😁
I bought a used bicycle off craigslist for 50 dollars looks brand new! Ordered the 750w mid drive kit and a 48v 20ah battery from ebay. Total cost 680 with shipping for battery and motor, 50 for the bike so 730 dollars for a full setup without a gear shift sensor.
@esdrasUrbina
Solid deal!!
Your system has no torque sensor, if I am correct. Do you ever miss that feature? Can it be added to the Bafang?
So my 750w mid drive tops out at 30mph in 7th gear with a 44t chaining and 48v 20ah battery that has a max discharge of 50amps. I put it on a hybrid road bike and I wanna try a 52t chainring and see if I can make it even faster.
What size chain ring you have
Soooooo maybe you should make a cheap bike around 500$ to 600$ total because 2200 is not fun just wanted to comment
well its not for everyone! i should put a disclaimer, *why you should buy an ebike if you can afford it.*
That's true tho
@@stevemania1 yes you understand thats a lot of MONEY.
Its crazy cheap if you calculate right. Compare to car: 2k$ insurance a year +parking tickets+gas+maintenance . Compare to public transportation 1500$ a year. Cheaper only sneakers) But I still didnt get one(
But with no motor. I am at the same speed as public transportation, and during peak hour 2-5 times faster than traffic
@Stevemania How well do you think a 20ah 48v battery will do with this kit?
Amazingly, I have a 17.5ah battery and the range is wild
@@stevemania1 That's what I was wondering about, I got the 850c display though you said you'd recommend the c961?
Hi, did you fit a gear change sensor? Thanks
nope! i just use the brake lever as a sort of clutch when shifting, lightly click the lever and it cuts the engine for a second or two
So where do you live that you can go 60km/hr on your e-bike? That would be illegal in Ontario.
In guessing you can't see me pedaling and going down hill while doing that, I used to hit faster speeds on my road bike lol
Just because it's illegal doesn't mean you can't do it... Look at criminals. Smh
This is speed mph or kph?
