    Greetings from the US! You have helped me more times than I can count. I've complete numerous maintenance jobs on my Audi that I didnt think I can pull off. Your attention to every detail and the way you explain things makes it easy to understand. You've saved me a ton of headache and money. Thank you so much for taking the time to do what you!

    This is a quite common fault on all Merc, BMW and Audi engines from that era, sensors were prone to faults (it is wound with extremely fine enamel wire and it breaks). There's a sure method of checking if the sensor is the culprit. If it failed on a hot engine you take a bottle of cold water and pour over the sensor (you can't damage anything that way). Most of the time, it will start. Otherwise if it failed when cold, you pour...you guessed, a pint of boiled water over it. There are chances it will start.
    I recommend replacing the sensor with a new G E N U I N E part and not some aftermarket crap if the car is more than 10 years old to minimize the risk of being immobilized.

    I'm getting the same code of P0501 but my speedometer don't work an I have a bunch of other lights on too. An its saying vehicle speed sensor. But could this cause the problem too?? Bc I haven't found a vehicle speed sensor online or even at an audi parts store. Its like it don't exist for the 05 audi a6

    • @ThatAfricanGuy
      @ThatAfricanGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      The crankshaft position sensor is the other name of the vehicle speed sensor. Same thing.

    I keep getting p0106 map sensor range/performance and p0346 camshaft position sensor A circuit/performance bank2 and p0068 map/maf throttle position correlation. I've replaced both camshaft sensors and the map sensor and still get the codes. Any idea what it might be

    Can it be possible that car cranks starts for 1 second and dies because of bad timing? Like if it slipped?

    • @ThatAfricanGuy
      @ThatAfricanGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is possible. The car can shut itself down to avoid further damage. But to be sure, you have to scan for fault codes. To confirm it's a timing issue you have to read and interpret engine data block 93 as explained in this video: th-cam.com/video/gdqsqCllNXk/w-d-xo.html

    Where is the camshaft position sensor b bank 1 located?

    • @ThatAfricanGuy
      @ThatAfricanGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There isn't a Camshaft Position (CMP) "Sensor B" Bank 1. The four CMP sensors are normally named Sensor, Sensor 2, Sensor 3 and Sensor 4. If you get a code for Camshaft Position "Sensor B" Circuit / Range/Performance Bank 1 or Bank 2, you need to check Bank 2 (driver's side) Camshaft Position "Sensor 2" G163 shown at 6:40 of this video.

    • @ThatAfricanGuy
      @ThatAfricanGuy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the engine starts and is running poorly it may be something else than the crankshaft position sensor. A bad crankshaft position sensor will prevent the engine from starting. Scan for more codes.

    • @ThatAfricanGuy
      @ThatAfricanGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@diangelotiller6145 You should definitely fix the ESP issue first. It is unsafe to drive the car with the ABS and ESP deactivated. At that mileage the common reason of the fault is a failed ABS/ESP control module but it could be something else. To be sure it is a bad ABS module, scan the ABS (Antilock Braking System) for faults. If the fault is about the ABS/ESP module then you need to purchase a replacement or refurbished unit. The unit is composed of the module and the pump. It's the module that goes bad. Some people just removed the module and had it repaired. I preferred purchasing a refurbished whole unit and replaced mine because while the module is away for repairs, the car would be unusable. Here is how I proceeded: th-cam.com/video/1d4QfZsQQZk/w-d-xo.html
