I love Roy Nichols. He stood out from other great Tele guys like Don Rich and James Burton, by his Jazz leanings, likely from playing Western Swing in the 1950s. Very cool to turn the spotlight on this great musician
A zillion guitar instruction videos out there that really doesn’t help me . . . but thus guy, Doug Seven can actually take you somewhere you haven’t been. Wonderful! Super helpful! This video is a door opener. Thanks bruh.
Thanks so much Doug - here in 2020, learning the guitar in my 50's, your approach and help is fantastic food for my learning and using as a spring board writing new tunes. Cheers from Seattle!
Doug; Your suggestion about the best way to learn this lick, is by learning it "in bits", was very eye-opening, and helpful. What a powerful way to get started on the lick, develop the groove, even on just a few notes, and then when you've got those notes nailed, add the next phrase, and keep groovin' . Thanks for the lesson. I promise., one of these days, I'm going to splurge and buy a bunch of your DVD's. Any chance you're going to have a Black Friday Sale?? I'm waiting and hoping !!
I am told frequently that my own style is reminiscent of Roy Nichols- it's mighty nice to hear, especiallly since I treasure melody in solos more than anything. I was not outright influenced by Roy too much however- I just ended up seeing similar things in the guitar I guess. These videos are great- I might as well continue with this style. Thanks.
hes very generous with the free lesson vids. the Bb arpeggio over C root or C11 thibg is better described as a flat 7 as he said, but a huge sound you also get there is the sspended 4th, in this case f, which most usually resolces down the half step.
Love your concept of "taking a lick and running with it" ;o) I do believe you can stay true to a motif, yet leave room to express yourself. After all, to adhere to a moment in time of another person, is not to be true to yourself, just sayin' GREAT JOB!!
I love the enthusiasm that Doug Seven fills his lessons with. I'm so glad to have rediscovered Doug Seven.
I've been a full-time guitar instructor for 32 years and think you do a great job teaching. Very nicely done. You're one of the best I've seen.
Very nice lesson! Thanks so much for this!
Thanks Doug. I'm stealing this one.

Brilliant approach to practicing. Great lick. Gold label lesson Doug. Thanks again!
Great lick, very tasteful ... thanks.
What ever happened to Doug? He used to have tons of videos on TH-cam. He was the king of Country guitar lessons but there is only a few videos now.
Thank You so Much Doug
Great video
Use it to expand my playing. Honestly I take it and modify to my style.
Killer riff. Great playing. Thank you.
Nice vid. I am a fan of mixing swing into country...good job
Urban Gospel is using a lot of Country licks. This new hybrid style is a great combination. Excellent video.
man really great method of teaching overall of how to make practice to get so much more out of a lick
Great lick. Fun to split it up and build it back together over a few bars.

How about a band with Doug Seven, John Five and Nikki Sixx? Still looking for a drummer.
Does anyone know if this lick came from any particular song or material? I find it amazing really. Very professional country sound.
liked youre lessons wish i could have downloaded it.
Great lesson. Thanks for posting the fix, because it was difficult to follow the left hand on the original video.

Real pretty lick-kinda bluesy and sad - good stuff!
You're a beast man!
Great stuff!
Merle Haggard brought me here...He said Roy Nichols was his favorite guitarist of all time. Now I understand.
Having trouble getting the tabs. Any help out there?
Doug, do I detect a little hybrid finger picking I your lesson? , thanks for your lesson.
Doug I have the same black B bender
