I actually have the first official master I did for a client just last month and I used this exact plugin, almost in the exact same way, except my low was a tad less and my highs were a tad more. Maybe because of genre difference, as your example is synthwave and I was doing heavy alternative rock/metal genre. Also maybe because of the mix too. Great to see I was doing something hopefully right haha.
It's like you've been holding your breath and can suddenly breath again when you come across a channel with such useful and relevant techniques...it's much appreciated. 🤖👍🔊
Really great content Streaky! Mastering tips get straight to the point and zero time wasting in your videos. Dropping gems 💎 thanks for sharing such value. 🙏🏻
Your channel is legit!! Hope you keep doing these. I follow a lot of mixing accounts (professional musician who has used this time off tour to really learn mixing and production) and yours is a new favorite already. Thanks for sharing your knowledge 🙏
do you say anything revolutionary? this is a great tip, nuances are one of the most important things in the canvas, and getting the sound through the circuitry is so important ... keep it up! great
Hey Streaky, you're encouraging me to dare use just a very bit of an compressor or an EQ. Great. Thanks. Results are much more convincing without sacrificing the flavor.
Hi Streaky Another brill video - clear, practical and concise. Very much appreciate your knowledge and energy. I 'only' have Logic's Pultec version the Vintage Tube EQ but will definitely give your tip a go. Please keep doing these and don't retire as you might have suggested! Cheers, Chris in Sheffield
Great stuff Streaky, love your video's and your precious knowledge that you are teaching. You know what? We should all be so grateful of your time. I have 4 x Klark Tech pultec eqpt's, 2 on my master bus and the others for tracking. I love these eq's to bits and don't know how I managed before without them. Perfect explanation of the pultec warmth in eq . Thank you Streaky.
On a Pultec, only the low frequency filter is a shelf filter. The high frequency filter is a peak (bell) filter. Secondly, the markings around the boost and attenuation knobs don't represent an equivalent decibel value.
Great stuff thanks again mate! Please do more on classic settings on classic outboard, it is really a missing piece of the puzzle for so many people growing up itb but using so many classic emulations.
Thanks again. You also work really well to wake up in the morning. Kinda like a drill sergeant in your introś. Just kidding, thanks for sharing your knowledge. well apreciated.
It's amazing what Pultec does to the bottom end. Have you tried Acustica Audio Pultec, Streaky? Just wondering how you'd compare it to UAD (I have both)
Nice demonstration!! Thanks for your time !! You have one of the best mastering channels on TH-cam and I really love your explanations (very clear and simple) and demonstrations including this one!!! That adds interesting depth to the sound definitely! When you click on bypass, is the loudness level in LUFS matching the loudness when you switch off the bypass? The sound with the EQ sounds a bit louder to my ears but maybe it's just a perceived loudness? Just asking as I always like to compare at the same LUFS loudness level to hear what is the real effect of a plug-in without the addition of the improvement (the "illusion" of improvement) caused strictly by the higher volume of the EQ output. Best Regards from your friend François in Montreal, Canada! 🎼🃏🎶🎵🙏😁🌠
What headphones are you using Streaky? I have Audio Technica ATH m50x and am not sure how well/accurate they are for what you are teaching. Any headphone suggestions to get serious to hear the entire freq spectrum details?
WooHoo! I’m excited to try this with my Pultec version!! I think I have the T-RackS version. I’m not that excited about waves versions of these classic hardware pieces as compared to T-RackS. Waves just doesn’t sound as good to me as T-RackS.
I may sound super naive and amateur with this one.. I'm using Audio Technica ATH-M50x headphones straight into my MacBook (I have an Apollo Twin II) but I'm currently mobile so cannot travel with it.. I can't hear the difference in the low end but I'm assuming I'm not in the right environment or using the wrong kind of headphones for this kind of precision work? If so, could you recommend a set of headphones for mixing please? (Mastering I'll leave to you haha) Thanks.
Hi Sreaky great video, quick question how hot are you running your levels into the plugin? obviously these settings are bassed on your levels. what levels would you recommend with these plugins?
Damn, I’ve had the Pultec in my collection for some time and now I know I’ve been using it all wrong! Great info here, love the extra sauce it gives. Would really like to know where you put this in the mastering chain
Please have better vocal to music level, kept having to turn the music down when it comes on and visa versa. I was already aware of this and have used this technique but nice to see it is also used by legends like yourself.. I'm not in a treated room and with poverty monitoring so I'm just guessing half the time lol.
I have a pair of Warm EQP's (with gain mod) and have so far liked them best on the master bus with the EQ's bypassed, just in the circuit giving a slight boost. Easily get's muddy or tizzy otherwise.
Not the newest, revolutionary idea but it’s definitely overlooked in the stereo domain...love to hear how you’re using this...

agreed :)
Streaky is now revealing his trade secrets. Great info!

I had a Pultec plugin for quite a while, and I didn't really know how it work and what to do with it, but now I'm getting it, thanks.
Thanks Streaky - that is the best video example of Pultec Boost & Cut for low end. I like how it pushed the kick. Really Good!

Perfect timing. I just picked up the Tegeler Audio EQP1 to do the same sort of thing and it sounds epic!
I've been using the smiley eq lately. Works great for club tunes.
thanks a lot, i knew pulltec EQ were great but never managed to use it the right way.
It really does make a big difference as well as warmth etc and midrange depth it really glues the track thank you so much.
Quality, only ever go hard with it but will 100% be trying that tip on the mix bus, quite dramatic for such a small tweak on the low end. Nice one.
Keep them coming Master Streaky 🙏🏿👊🏿🤟🏿☝🏿

Streaky, thanks so much for using my track! Loved the tutorial!
Good tune 👍

Don't think I ve ever pressed like to a video haha! Streaky your stuff it's too valuable! Thank you so much !
The Pultec is always on my master buss. A great "trick".
This is the toppest of top-tips. Pultastic.
On a Pultec, only the low frequency filter is a shelf filter. The high frequency filter is a peak (bell) filter. Secondly, the markings around the boost and attenuation knobs don't represent an equivalent decibel value.
Very nice - thank you.
That's the real stuff right there. Thanks!

Great video, can hardly wait to try it

ANother awesome post Streaky thanks From NZ
excellent video mate
This is brilliant thanks Streaky👍
Great vid! I've only just found this channel, but subbed straight away.
Superwonderful content.... The details are surprising... Thanks a lot
Thanks mate!
Another great video.
The hours I've spent tweaking my pultec. The cooking /herbs analogy is a good one... I.e. Not too many flavours.
I've been messing with plugins all evening but can't quite match a bounce to tape I had done. It has extra depth and dimension.
Thanks again. You also work really well to wake up in the morning. Kinda like a drill sergeant in your introś. Just kidding, thanks for sharing your knowledge. well apreciated.

Commenting, for the algorithm. More people need to see this.

Firstly get sonarworks for those headphones then upgrade to get better quality components

So is this possible without a pultec EQ? What is it doing that a standard eq plugin isn't

Thanks for the good tutorial. What is this song called? I really like it.
what is it, changes in level less than 1 dB are perceived as changes in timbre?

What is the name of the song in the background when you're talking? Great tip Btw!
Do you use tons of compression in your recordings?
No
u r amazing ♫♫♫
Can you add this on the master channel on the mix before mastering? Should this be the first effect or last? Thanks!
Yes either
honestly, is the gap really close when using hardware unit vs plugin unit? In terms of flavour and warmness vibe
Yeah very close
@@Streaky_com cool!!!! thanks
I liked when youasked!
Has Colourbox been taken down? Cant get the links working on your site. Cheers :)
Yes currently not selling it
Loved the tune what is it?
I’ll stick it in the comments later it was sent in by a viewer
