Surprising strategy seen here. I would advise my crew here in Germany to work differently: 1. Setting the nozzles to spray jet for most of the time would have made the water way more effective. 2. If a proportioning device is available in the firetruck, I would add some 0.3% of foam / wetting agent to lower the surface tension and further increase effectiveness especially on interior materials 3. If the first guy would have started at the tucks drivers cab and then worked backwards, the trucks cabin might have been completely saved. And as always: this ist not meant to criticize the acting fire-crew since we only see part of the scene and don't know about reasons for regional habits, trained strategies & limitations of equipment.

It turned directions at the next exit. In Europe, we usually avoid stopping on the opposite lane and working from there due to safety reasons and effectiveness. The firetruck has highly visible markings and warning lights at its back. this lowers the risk of someone crashing into the site. Besides this, you don't block traffic in the other direction as well and once the fire has been put out, you can already open the left lane while waiting for those who will deal with unloading / towing the damaged truck while always being ready to react on re-ignition or spilling oil / fuel.

What a bunch of amateurs, anyone with an ounce of sense would have started behind the lorry cab and worked their way back and as for the way the got out of the engine on arrival, it was as if the crew were asleep until the driver shouted "WE ARE HERE "!!! I sincerely hope i never have to rely on this crew coming out for me!!!
To spend all that time on the drivers side and not get any water on the other side of the rig is very poor tactics. All t6hat was needed was for 1 of those hoses working on the passenger side and they could have had a complete knockdown in under 10 minutes and with minimal water use. Firefighters are pushing the flames to one side of the truck yet they never send a hose to water down the passenger side, which is a standard firefighting tactic. The officer on this fire forgot the second part of that tactic, cool off the other side and knock down the flames being sent that way. Poor choice of tactics and poor execution of the tactics they chose to put into effect.

One of the guys on a line is from Falck, an ambulance company - not a firefighter! I agree with others that the attack was quite ineffective. Unfortunately foam isn't used widely any more due to cancer risk, especially in Europe. The EU has extremely strict environmental regulations.

Umm, The first 2 firefighters with the hoses were both wearing SCBA, The truck was already a write off so why they bothered with it I don't know. In the UK & Europe there are very strict rules about using foam where run off can damage the environment
