    I go camping a lot and I like the portable wok. I also got a smaller 3 lb propane tank which is easier to carry and use. Happy woking…

    QUESTION #2
    From many wok cooking videos I see how the person will ride the bottom of the wok on the heat shield as they flip the rice into the air while cooking.
    HOWEVER, in this video i notice that the heat shield that protects the handle from the flame actually has a ridge built into it to hold the wok steady when not being moved.
    Does this built-in ridge interfere with how a person would want to ride the bottom of the wok over the heat shield while flipping rice?

    • @JakeLesada
      @JakeLesada  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, it does drag on the bottom of the Wok and make the flipping action less smooth. I just lift the Wok; and at first the wok felt heavy, but I got used to it. I am going to round off the ridge with my grinder or band file and make it really smooth. Then, it will be even more fun to cook with this Wok burner.

    QUESTION:
    I notice in the link in the description, that the controls go off to the left side from where the heat shield is that protects the wok handle?
    But in your video the heat shield is clearly in-line of the controls.
    Did you have to change the direction of where the shield is?
    Or is the link artwork in error?

    • @JakeLesada
      @JakeLesada  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The burner is comprised of three main pieces. Piece #1 is the base with the burner adjustment and click igniter - it's arrives attached to the bigger round bottom base plate. Piece #2 is the burner small round plate disc with the 2 prongs facing upward - this is removal and can fall out when carrying - user error can accidentally be placed wrongly upside down. # Important the 2 PRONGS GO UPWARD for correct install, otherwise you'll have an orange flame. And, Piece #3 the Wok burner fire bowl. This piece can be placed in any orientation like a clock - but the correct way is to rotate it to have the heat shield side toward the person cooking.

    can you post link for the regulator you bought as well. some people was stating that the regulator that comes with it doesn't fit propane

    • @JakeLesada
      @JakeLesada  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I posted a link in description for the Mr. Heater Propane High Pressure Regulator part#F273719. You'll still need to source a 1/4" Pipe Thread barbed hose fitting to connect Wok Burner original 10mm propane hose. I used a 1/4" pipe thread barbed hose fitting from another regulator I had and it worked. The inside diameter of the Wok Burner hose is 10mm - I measured it and it's labeled on the hose as 10mm. It's fairly straightforward with barbed hose fittings and hoses attached with a hose clamp. Just make sure to use soapy water solution at all connections to check for any leaks prior to using the propane burner.

    The flame looks awesome. I'm contemplating. Do you see an issue with the construction quality or rust?

    • @JakeLesada
      @JakeLesada  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I made you a quick video so you can decide for yourself. The construction is good thick metal, I didn't cover it at first and it did get rained on a couple of times, then I covered it cause it started to get some flash rust. But overall, very pleased it's been solid. I'll clean up rust later and do a restore video. Thank you for watching and commenting.

    Hi! Have you ever estimated the amount of hours of average cooking that you can get with the 20lb tank?

    • @JakeLesada
      @JakeLesada  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I haven't yet, but that's something I'll try and keep track of with my current propane tank. The tank does last for a lot of dishes. I just had some fried rice from a local Chinese restaurant - it wasn't as good as fresh off the wok in the backyard. They added too much dark soy sauce and the flavor was bland. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment.

    From what I saw…..the ‘high pressure’ regulator you link to just a normal 5-20 psi unit that comes with most burners. Something I missed?

    • @JakeLesada
      @JakeLesada  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The manufacturer of this "high pressure" regulator is Mr. Heater, and their label describes this regulator as, "Propane High Pressure Regulator" Full Flow Soft Nose P.O.L. "It's most commonly used on fish cookers, smokers or other high pressure appliances." High Pressure range of 0-20 PSI. It works great with this burner. Thank you for watching and commenting.

    today I got my wok burner....!
    Its the same style as you got..
    I have to design a wok table, so I may be asking some questions to get some ideas from you if thats ok?

    • @JakeLesada
      @JakeLesada  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cool, you got the burner. I also use the side - flip up mini table on my BBQ grill as the wok burner table. I affix it using a small metal C-clamp. The C-clamp holds down the bottom plate of the burner and it works great. A suggestion would be to have the height of the base of the burner placement about 26", this places the wok handle height at about my mid section or belly button and makes it easier to flip the food. The center section of the burner can accidentally be installed upside down, make sure the two metal casting tabs are pointing upwards. The flame should almost be invisible in the daytime and blueish at dusk or night. If it's yellowish or orange, check to make sure the center burner is installed correctly facing upwards with the tabs. Otherwise it's incomplete combustion and the flames will be orangish. Also, the flame guard on the burner is the vertical casting on one side of the burner and this should be aligned towards you, this keeps the flame heat away from your hands. The size of the propane tank will also determine the max output in BTU's of the burner. The 20lb gas station propane tanks will only get to about 90,000 Btu's, but the 30lb propane tanks will get to about 100,000 Btu's. I use the 20lb, because it's convenient and I can swap it with my BBQ grill tank if I run out of propane during a fantastic Chinese food takeout dinner wok session made at home. I'm designing my own street food style backyard wok station setup. I cooked 4 quarts of pork fried rice for a Thanksgiving dinner contribution and it tasted great along with the standard turkey dinner. Remember to include fire safety with your cooking and have a fire extinguisher handy incase of any mishaps. Also, check all your propane hose connections with soapy water to make sure you don't have any propane air leaks. Ask as many questions as you like. Thank you for watching and commenting.

      would a high pressure regulator be something I should get? to replace the one that came with the burner?

    • @JakeLesada
      @JakeLesada  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is what I did, I replaced the original regulator that came with my burner - the regulator doesn't work with the OPD valves on the propane exchange from the gas station or hardware store. It needs an adaptor, but instead, I replaced it with a Mr. Heater adjustable propane regulator and it works great. If your burner setup arrived with the pressure regulator that works with the propane units from the gas station, then you should be good to go with using it. Otherwise it's a simple mod with the Mr. Heater adjustable regulator. You'll have to also get from the hardware store a threaded barbed hose fitting, this will attach to the hose and the Mr. Heater adjustable regulator threads onto the barbed hose fitting.

      What I got seems to connect to a normal BBQ gas tank on my patio.
      I got everything connected and I got the Wok Burner to fire-up with not trouble at all.
      But.....but what I had a hope for is that I wish I could have a greater fire.
      I still got a good fire in the burner, and Im sure it will work fine.
      But I sure wish I could find a way to bump it up and be more powerful....
      I think I sent you a video on facebook of what I got going in my burner now...

      The burner is what I am trying to show, I am not trying to show the table setup. The table is a Harbor Freight welding table I used to mount and test out the burner, it is held down with a C-clamp. My other table set up is to use the folding side of my charcoal BBQ grill, it works too using a C-clamp. Thank you for watching and commenting.
