    I absolutely loved the Invisible No More® Campaign in 2010. It was so ahead of it's time with people sending in videos from their webcams. 2018 is going to be even more incredible with easier ways to share stories and even more expansion of publicity and awareness! We are not lazy. We are not malingerers.
    We are warriors! This is our time to shine and to let people see what strength, fortitude, perseverance and courage it takes to live with illness, pain and injury! Let's change the world together!

    This is a great video that talk about the stigma of invisible disabilites. With Covid-19 social isolation, now people will at least understand how having to stay at home, and not be able to work affects people's lives.

    This is a great, great thing. In many ways, my life ended at seven, when I survived a mass murder which left me with a lifelong and ruinous moderate to severe traumatic brain injury. The irony, and it's a cruel one, which many people with invisible disabilities grapple with, is that the human will to thrive makes us work our asses off for a lifetime. And it often pays off, but only to an extent, because physical reality is physical reality. So, many of us can eventually achieve a simulacrum of being healthy, while we're anything but, and it only leaves others tending to be contemptuous of us as "slackers", etc.

      Wow! We are so very sorry to hear about all you have been through and are still battling! We are making great progress bringing awareness of millions living with illness, pain, injury and disability! We have seen so many individuals, friends, families and businesses have their eyes opened! Yet, there is still so much more work to do. Thank you for sharing your story!

      @@InvisibleDisability , you're welcome, indeed. It's bad enough to be hurt, but to sustain additional pain by being kicked over and over again only adds injury to injury.

    • @InvisibleDisability

      Yes, illness and injury are so hard to live with! But the lack of understanding and compassion from make it even harder! :(

    Just had a Walmart pharmacist refuse to fill my pain medication because I am mobile.
    I guess now you can only get pain medication if your are in a wheel chair or look like you have CA.
    So disgusting!

    The first thirty seconds of this video reminds me of a piece I made called the invisible girl. I'm working on a series to try and illustrate a person with an invisible illness which is quite challenging so I'm hoping to find inspiration through other's stories.

    I’ve been living with an invisible disability for almost 5 yrs now. I got sick from a fluke accident. I was a social butterfly before that. It’s tough because my severe reactions only come on when I’m exposed to other people’s fragrance on their body and clothes and the chemicals they use that float around suspended in the air - all of which are inviting modern society. It’s really isolating and frustrating, especially when your own family doesn’t believe you’re sick.

    For me I have an invisible disability because it’s not clearly visible in fact I have multiple ones and I was born with mine. You can’t see what goes on with my genetics since my genetics are different than most people. So I was born with an invisible disability. So I wanted to let people know that there are people who are born with invisible disabilities.

    What about people with ("Undiagnosed Disabilities")? Just because someone's symptoms don't make the list in the doctor's textbook doesn't mean that they aren't disabled? People are always given other disabilities that they may or may not have and not always get the proper treatment? This can play a role in how someone is treated in society? For example, the "medical model" of disability says that you "can't" work while the "social model" says that you can if the world around you is made to be "ACCESSIBLE" to you. The thing is that if you "can" do you "lose". While the rest of a "regular/normal" world expects you to do they are not willing to give you the tools to succeed? By taking benefits away from you that becomes a form of "SLAVERY"! In life, people only applaud us for the things that we do and treat us like we are lazy if we can't. Why is that the world that is fallen not allow us to be who we are and allow us to rejoice and have real disability pride? If I was perfect you wouldn't have a job. If I didn't have a disability you would not have an opportunity to learn from me? If I am "NORMAL" only because I am "normal" then I am not who I AM! Don't forget Undiagnosed disabilities because they aren't visible even when they may or may not be in plain sight?
    #DisabledLivesMatter!

    • @InvisibleDisability
      @InvisibleDisability  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, many people go years or decade without a diagnosis! It is so horrible when it often takes so much time! It is even more "invisible" to others! Our cofounder's wife was very ill for 14 years before she got a diagnosis. Unfortunately, by then the illness had become untreatable though she still tries. We are behind all living with invisible disabilities.

    people think because i always act happy and smile and greet people that i m a faker, if they knew how much pain i was in daily would they give me pitty because i have fibro? who wants pitty. not me!

    • @InvisibleDisability
      @InvisibleDisability  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agree! We're not trying to elicit pity, but belief that these illnesses and injuries are real, whether someone can "see" them or not. So many people are debilitated from time to time or all the time. People around them often accuse them of just making excuses, exaggerating or even making it up. It is so hard when people WANT to go places or do things, but are accused of these things. 💙
